Yeah you are right its a tool assisted speedrun programmed in such a way to achieve the bestest time possible which is even impossible to defeat for a normal human but this is done so that you can have a time stamp that yeah this is the least that anyone can go below it its not humanly possible.

I guess it can be done withouth using LUAscripts or other tools (but with slightly worse effect). I've seen guy who completed whole game without being harmed without using any cheats or tools (he used advantages of game mechanics that gave him temporary invulnerability like picking up item or throwing an enemy). But this run is clearly tool assisted, 6:12 it is impossible to change directions at this speed. But great gameplay anyway.

When your health bar reached like below 15% (shining red critical), and attacked by enemy, then with a low chance you will obtain a "40 critical damage", which is about 2x as the attack you got at the beginning of the game.
By the way, the critical attack is a number written in hexadecimal which ranges from 00 to FF, but here the highest is 40, though in some hack roms it could hit 60 or 80, but in the original rom there is no way to check the critical you got now, but only to attack enemies to test your attack

it's rage, meaning bonus damage. The normal damage is 20. When character health reaches less than 25%, and get hit, there are 1/32 percent chances for increasing to 40 damage
this is not hack, noted first stage when his life was almost none,his power had increased to 40L ,there is 4 level inset game, u can try it in the same way, but if u get hurt after,u will lost the power level
I've been looking for detailed explanation for powerups for this game since years. Thanks for clearing this up for us. Now the rest mystery would be to find the level 3, 5 and 6 boss skips for The Punisher. Can't find information for this anywhere and I remember everyone does it at the arcade as a kid.
