I just seen you on NZ hunter program, you should be a regular as you added a bit of lightness to the show. Im going to fit this mount on my merkel k5, its a bit of overkill for the NZ scrub
I'm not comfortable with a 1mm tight press fit. IMO you can crack your stock with that. I've just drilled mine at 18mm (as you suggest) and the adapter is 1mm larger diameter. And that's very very tight. I did a test run on some hardwood and pushing the gunsmith adapter in split the timber. I'll be drilling it out to 19mm and using some epoxy to hold it in.
Having used both a Javelin and 300 model for the past year, plus also dealing with Mr G too all I can say is “Bloody brilliant on all counts” Cheers guys. Jay the Pilot
Hi Josh, check out this guide for mroe details on installing the gunsmith adapter. spartan-precision.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048158133-Classic-Gunsmith-Adapter-Installation-Guide
@@samlawson2536 I used the forstner bit .... go slow and it should all work out fine man and on the website it gives more info on size I used 19mm I believe
Good video, but: if you have a common walnut stock, you have to use a 19mm forstner drill. Otherwise you might crack your expensive stock. Didn‘t work with my blaser R8 and a 18 mm drill. The bipod ist perfect. (pro hunt long).
Just installed an identical fitting to my laminate stock. I test drilled a scrap piece of wood first and wood agree, 18mm is somewhat tight and would be very concerned about 'fly pressing' in case you crack the wood. 19mm was perfect with 2 part epoxy.'

NJMS EDC & Outdoors thank for your comment. We plan to update this video soon.
Thanks for the video 18 MM does seem very tight. I was questioning my cheap bit but using a vice I got the adapter in.
