Thank you so much for this video! I don't usually comment much but I have to say thank you for this. My grandad gave me his loom a month ago and I have been so hopelessly lost and intimidated trying to follow the old instruction books he gave me. This video is super clear and I'm actually excited to get started now! Thank you again :D
I'm so glad to hear my video could give you the gentle push you needed to dive in with your grandad's loom! How special that you are able to use it 🥰 I wad fortunate to take weaving as a university course and learn the basics before I started teaching the class myself - it's such a fun medium and tool. Good luck and feel free to reach out with any questions!
As a new weaver, I am grateful for your video on warping. I tried to follow your instructions to a T and I'm excited how my warping turned out including the chain when removing from the board. 🙂
Bre, I haven't woven since COVID, as I was in a studio. Now, on my own loom at home, I'm getting restarted in my weaving. This first video has been enormously helpful! I've gotten my warps wound today. Thank you!
Ooh, so exciting to have your own loom at home now! Congrats! I hope you enjoy and best of luck with your projects. Let me know if you have any questions, I'm happy to help!
Thank you. This was very helpful as I am learning for the first time. Can you comment on the type or weight of yarn for a beginner scarf? I'm curious what you used.
So glad it's helpful to you! I always use 2-ply wool yarn for my scarves. Woolery is where I order from, they have a great selection of colors and I love the quality: woolery.com/harrisville-highland-wool-yarn.html Best of luck!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. For some reason my brain doesn't compute that from the beginning left peg that you tie on to and to the last peg to the top right doesn't seem like 1 yard. How does that work? What am I missing?
Making cloth for a cloak with my own homespun 2-ply yarn, I determined that 10 epi would be correct. My 38 inch fabric ended up being 32 1/2 inch fabric after the fulling and dyeing. I should have warped it 12 epi .
I love that you’re using homespun yarn! I hope your cloak turns out! I really like this website article as a guide for epi and wpi - they do a deep dive into the technical side, which could be helpful for you. www.gistyarn.com/blogs/how-to-weave/what-is-wpi-how-do-i-use-it-to-calculate-sett-or-epi-for-weaving?srsltid=AfmBOopAbS_1KkXCoyBIiStOcGQMcKBUZaZP0e4jbZHUU-jTTwBDLUjC
