We used to eat our picnic on the grass under the rocker as kids in the 90s just near that hut, We would run around pretending to be on the roller coaster and wonder when it would open. Shame it never did! but cool to see its again, its so much smaller and thinner than i remember! We always loved the scenic railway tho!

As someone who lived in Sydney, i've visited Katoomba many times. Shame about the weather. Lots of great walks, you should have climed up the giants staircase, when you get to the bottom of the scenic railway, ha, it takes you back to the top of the Three Sisters, it's one hell of a walk, and a bit scary in places, if you don't like heights. If you go on youtube, there was a video of a reporter who rode the Orphan Rocker, one of only a few, this was before it was supposed to open, which it never did, give it a watch!

Nice video, really enjoyed and look forward to seeing more clips, videos and vlogs from this trip. Noticed on the bigger Cable Car back up the mountain & cliff a.k.a Blue Cable Car the rollercoaster track on the edge of cliff, would of been epic to have seen a POV of you both on it. Hopefully one a modern day version is created? With maybe some of its track current track put on museum? For history purposes? But yeah be good to see a new version of it in future if ever considered? Think aswell with forest maybe a wooden GCI would be epic here? But who knows? Might be considered? Maybe even a classic Scenic Railway coaster could be built here? Like Dreamland Margate's version or Great Yarmouth? But yeah look forward to what is added in future. Enjoyed all three attractions, scenic railway was much steeper than I thought, speed of it aswell. Thought it went slower than that up & down, but how wrong I was. Shame it was cloudy on the day you went, hopefully on a future one day visit you both get to see the scenery & landscapes of the mountains & surroundings if visit Australia again in future? But cheers again, again really enjoyed and look forward to seeing more videos from your trip again soon. 😀👍

Did you happen to notice the big banked turn of the Orphan Rocker coaster balancing on the very edge, at the very top of the massive cliff face at exactly 24:50? It’s a common understating in the Aussie theme park community that the makers of the coaster had sent cars with sandbags and tear dummies in them around the track and several times the cars returned to the station completely empty. It’s said that there were design flaws and the forces on the exact banked section of track you can see there were just too great and the sandbags and dummies went over the edge. Apparently this is why it was never commissioned for opening. Of course there is little factual info on this abandoned ride, but it’s a good story, and it’s quite believable. And seriously how epic seeing the rotting bones of the coaster scattered around the bush land on such an atmospheric day! There are a lot of mysterious and unusual stories about the Australian bush lands and forests, so my question is, was it the forces of the coaster that threw the test dummies over the edge, or something else??? 😂

Scenic World is beautiful. Guess we were lucky when we went having clear blue skies. Had the weather been better you should have gone over the the famous Three Sisters rocks and lookout. The scenic railway is epic, so steep. It was just netting on it when I visited, not the modern carriages that are on it today, so felt a bit more intimidating 😅

    Shawn and Charlotte,
Anyone can see that on a clear day, but it takes someone
special to see it on a foggy day:)
That plunge down the mountain and back up sure beats hiking!
I loved it all, what magnificent country, and here I thought Australia was ALL desert.
My Sister visited Australia years ago and was lucky to see Ayer Rock(Uhuru) in the rain,
it brought out colors rarely seen by anyone..
    Cheers,

@Jayne Johnson ~ I couldn't agree with you more! How ridiculous an idea it would be to install a Rollercoaster there. My only trip overseas was to Australia. It was PHENOMENAL!! The Blue Mountains are as sacred & stunning as the Amazon, in my opinion. Places like this are rare & need to be protected.
