I think Leonidas Polk one of the future Confederate generals still continue to teach his slaves how to read the Bible even after the Nat Turner rebellion, though he had a misinterpretation on the Bible like many others in the past, he still believed that everyone should know how to read the Bible regardless if they were a slave or not, but the whole rebellion with Nat Turner was prophetic, because it only foreshadow what was coming with John Brown and later the civil war, because Nat Turner would shock the nation, John Brown would shake the nation to it's core, and the civil war would change the nation forever, but you guys got to do a video on John Brown next and hopefully one day we can finally get a video on the Harlem hellfighters.
John Brown? Nat Turner? Profits? John Brown and Nat Turner were the two sides of a maniacal murdering coin. Nat Turner murder white folks who did not own slaves. He killed indiscriminately. His only, denominator was to kill whites. You moral cowards try to excuse an excusable black hatred for whites. Up until recently with the white leftist pied pipers of BLM type groups and the whitewashing of Black devils, no one black or white praise or condoned what Nat Turner did.
I just learnt more about Nat Turner, but I knew that in the French revelion happened something similar. They used human skin from their adversaries (Catholics from Vendée) to make coats, they described as "finer than suede" and the women skin was "more elastic".
My family is from VA, I am a descendent of the Thorton, the Hancocks, and the Bookers, and the , Micheaux , it was told to me, by my cousin , who still lives in Virginia , that Nat Turner was our family member,, a cousin. It is very important that the remaining elders talk to the younger generation about their history
I know this is a year in passing, but are you also related to Frances Edwards, otherwise known as Aunt Noon? She is from the Hancocks, I believe - and my mother was Rose Maria Edwards ... Aunt Moon's niece
Another great video, I would add that while historically, people have desired to be free, it seems that now too many Americans desire to be taken care of. How about video on the navy “scandal” Tailhook?
I remember the Tailhook scandal. This was about the time “sexual harassment” was always in the news and newscasters were pronouncing “harrassment” about 10 different ways. One detail was that pilots would stand around w/ their “packages” sticking out of the front of their pants when ladies were around. I think it was called the gauntlet. Well, plenty of juicy details on that one.
It is very dangerous to allow people completely under your control to be taught to read and write which is probably why the literacy rate of students and graduates of gov't schools is plummeting.
These people came from a place where literacy was unknown. Teaching them to read was an unnatural act a lot like burdening them with unwelcome cultural misappropriation.
Terrible take. Do you know how much cities like LA, Baltimore, and Chicago spend on student education? They spend massive amounts of money each year on their students who are primarily black In public schools. Yet those kids can’t pass proficiency tests in math or English. That isn’t because of the govt or anyone else. So stop blaming the govt: I don’t think much of the U.S. govt but the amount of favoritism they give the black population. Should make everyone else ask why the public gets so little in return from them? Other than extreme high crime rates and danger.
To take another human's skin and make "souvenier purses" speaks volumes about the people involved in that. Today we'd call someone who does something like that sick.
Wow. But no mention of the White men women and children that were brutally murdered by that monster? Whole families massacred but you're more sympathetic to how this guy was killed. You're a pathetic cuck.
General George Thomas as a teenager was living in the vicinity at the time and him and his family briefly went into hiding until the rebellion was over.
Aww that's horrible that a family of slave owners had to hide during a slave rebellion, how tragic that experience must have been for those poor poor people
He said that Nat Turner suffered from mental illness. Wow! Every time I see a Caucasian expounding upon His Story as it pertains to me, my spidey senses just go batshit crazy.
I see many parallels between Nat Turner revolt and the Palestinian/Hamas situation in Israel. You cannot keep any human being in bondage and don't expect them to eventually rise up against their oppressors!
I can respect his fight for freedom, but I can’t respect the murder of children. There’s no good reason for any movement to murder any children. Great video 👍
I once browsed through a graphic novel about the Nat Turner Rebellion. The image I remember from the book is seeing a black slave adult murdering a little white boy. What made it most disturbing that earlier they were playing together smiling sincerely. Even if the white boy was a beneficiary of the institution of slavery, he was still innocent.
Despite his lofty goals, his actions were seen as pure slaughter. However, the Southern response was over the top as well, and codified the growing rift over slavery, thus almost making certain the start of the Civil War.
I ask you to bear in mind, no one really knows what's in another man's heart, only if his words match his actions. A lot of violence gets done in the name of God, peace, love or (worst of all) justice
If you think the South response was over the top wait until you see the response of the entire Federal government to John Brown, and though I don't agree with Nat Turner slaughter of Innocence, I do believe if you take away a person freedom and enslave them, dehumanize them, don't be surprised or shocked when they rebel and show no sympathy or empathy towards slaughtering you entire family or bloodline, like how much empathy and sympathy did the slaves of Spartacus show when they rebelled against their Roman Masters they killed everyone.

Dude this was awesome. I remember watching the Cherokee kid featuring Sinbad and in the movie he meets Nat Turner and I remember thinking who is this guy.
Nat Turner's rebellion is a horrific, but undeniable, episode from the American past. Strange to mention: When I was a kid, my parents had a copy of William Styron's ambitious novel ("The Confessions of Nat Turner"), inspired by his fascination with the man and his tragic rebellion, on our home's bookshelves. I finally read the work when I was well into my twenties. Another worthy novel that unearths pre-War-Between-The-States obsession with slavery is--published thirty years later--Russell Banks's "Cloudsplitter" (which focuses on the fanatic, white Christian abolitionist John Brown). However essential rigorous historical inquiry is, I recommend both of those novels also.
Just because you don't believe in the Bible, you shouldn't say Turner had a mental issue because he believed in signs and prophetic messages. God grants his believers different types of talents.
@@FORGOTTENHISTORYCHANNELyou clearly have never read the Bible. You clearly don't know the nature of God. Please stop speaking on a God you know nothing about. Read the Bible.

@panthercreek60 Untrue. Lie. Falsehood. Dishonest. Any "reading" was at a level so minimal that it was inconsequential. Like carrying teaspoons of water out of an ocean.
I got my masters degree in history from a professor named B Wyatt Brown. He was the understudy of William Styron, the author of “the confessions of Nat Turner “. My entire semester was devoted to the study of the rebellion and the unique perspective that Dr. Brown gave. Turner was a unique man, highly intelligent, possessing leadership skills, but without the perspective of what it meant to gain his freedom through violence. He was neither hero, nor villain, just a man put into an awful and deplorable situation. His victims were not evil, but perhaps victims of a flawed system just as Mr. Turner was.
Of course, I am in no way defending the heinous murders of the innocence perpetrated by the escape slaves, but in their situation, it is difficult to fault them for lashing out at their oppressors. For those commenters looking only at The side of the slaveholders, put yourself in the shoes of a slave. My ancestry is from wealthy farmers who were slave owners, and who fought and died for theConfederacy . There are two sides to every story.
@@jennaywilliams1024 I have absolutely no argument nor rebuttal for your statement. Slavery is a heinous crime. There is no way to justify it. Nat Turner, just like John Brown can be looked at as both a hero and a villain. Their cause was right and just, but their means were questionable.

@@INNIMA the energy of mob mentality doesn't have a side..it weaponizes both, or any to feed itself. This is a consciousness war, we have to understand that. Knowing your own mind and understanding energy containment is crucial to avoid being swayed by a pendulum. It's easy to be pulled in if you're not conscious of it. It has no alligence but to itself. The pendulum has swung in one direction too much & long, so now we are seeing it trying to self correct. When that outrages you and those who agree with you as much as violent resistance to a system which destroyed millions and physically and mentally crippled millions, let us know.
I have heard a number of stories that included mutilating people and displaying their bodies as an act of intimidation. In every such story, the side that does this eventually loses. Fear is rarely an effective long term method for controlling people, instead persuading the masses that their rulers are too evil to remain in power.
The cost of allowing a small, wealthy percentage of the citizens to have brought in a group to further enrich themselves. Their greed has cost all legacy Americans ever since. The importation should have never been allowed, or at the least, mass repatriations should have occurred.
@desertdetroiter428 Do you comprehend that native has an actual meaning? Have you thought that there was no nation before the American colonists and settlers built one? The I ndian tribes had conquered land from each other for millennia. Just look at Cherokee oral tradition that states they took the land, or the Commanche taking Texas from the Apaches. As far as repatriations, I referred to those who were bought from African kings to benefit a small group. My post was clearly understood by anyone of intellect.
@@justjosie0107 you meant sending all black people back to Africa. Moreover, just because Native peoples had internecine wars is meaningless. So did Europeans…with far deadlier results too. I would have had no problem with calling it heroic if he hadn't gone after the women and children. He crossed a line then and doomed his followers to death and sorrow.
He had the same devotion and cruelty towards his oppressors as he learned it from their inhumanity towards us. There is no doubt he was used as a literal footrest as a child; I'm sure his mother knew of children used as bait for alligators.
He's an antihero and an antagonist of yt supremacy. He will always be considered a villain for those that believed they owned us and the present day lineage of our ancestors.

When the same people are as repulsed by the likes of George Washington and thousands of other white leaders and commoners who did even worse harms to black men, women, and children, on the industrial scale for hundreds of years all over the Americas, and elsewhere, I will take their outrage over this single incident seriously. Their different responses to the ongoing atrocities against civilians in Ukraine and Gaza show that there hasn't been much of a moral evolution among many of them since the days of race based chattel slavery. In fact, if the either the perpetrators or the victims in either Gaza or Ukraine were black, the white western media and the average white westerner would have completely different spins on those situations.
*Prophet Nat Turner* did not possibly have a mental illness, as stated by the narrator. He had divine visions and heard divine voices like so many other enslaved Blacks had. The only difference is that *Prophet Nat* acted on those divine visions and voices. Also, the picture at the 4:07 mark of the brother with the hat and beard is not Nat Turner. That's a picture of *Emperor Menelik II of Ethiopia.* However, that's a good picture. Both of the brothers were freedom fighters against the same enemy at different time periods on different continents. Much respect to *Prophet Nat and Emperor Menelik II.*
He didn't have a mental illness for having prophetic beliefs. Most people back then shared the same beliefs and it us understandable to see that among people who are oppressed, their lives threatened on a daily basis. They were living in hell daily, with their children indiscriminately murdered , women and men raped, brutalized, mutilated and humiliated. No hope, just hell on earth. So his religiosity makes sense.

It was not the black people who were (Uneducated) but the people who stole them away from their cultured land, and their own languages. You are right ... humans don't revolt for nothing. I Agree!

Very interesting video, definitely gives a different perspective.
When you draw your sword against the king, you must throw away the scabbard.

How about video on the navy “scandal” Tailhook?
Great suggestion. We'll look into it.

I do hope we white people get reparations for these murders.🤪🤪

I hate being black, I wish I was white.
We would still be stuck with people like the bidens.
It was not a Civil War. They weren’t strategically killing each other for slaves freedom. That was a genocide.

And how did my ancestors gain their freedom? Through war, right?
@@jennaywilliams1024 I have absolutely no argument nor rebuttal for your statement. Slavery is a heinous crime. There is no way to justify it. Nat Turner, just like John Brown can be looked at as both a hero and a villain. Their cause was right and just, but their means were questionable.

Horrific.
In 8th grade, I was horrified when someone entered my classroom and stated that we would (No Longer) be taught black history. I was angry because I looked forward to learning about Mr. Frederick Douglas that day. They gave no reason as to why this was taking place. Many years later, I began to believe that white people were afraid of blacks retaliating against the latter-day descendants because of the past evils. As I got older, I began to watch the news on TV, as blacks were being sent to prison for very small insignificant things. This was one way to get rid of them, or so the nation thought. After they took away our black history class, they gave us some stupid plastic flutes to learn how to play; then they replaced this class with giving us Violins to make noise with. I had preferred to keep the Black History Class. That removal truly burdened my soul .... I am very passionate about the past and await to see how proper Judgement Comes.

@@INNIMA the energy of mob mentality doesn't have a side..it weaponizes both, or any to feed itself. This is a consciousness war, we have to understand that. Knowing your own mind and understanding energy containment is crucial to avoid being swayed by a pendulum.
