    Are there really people digging out Ange in the comments. He clearly says in the intro that he is learning too. This is a quest they’ve set themselves and they are allowing us to watch it. Every caddy starts somewhere just like a player does. Ease up and enjoy it. All the best boys! JB definitely has the game to do this

    I'm a former European Tour Caddy ⛳️ guys and the 'advice' not 'criticism' I'd give Ange is... don't 'over-caddy'. By that, I mean don't do or say TOO much... he's taking the shots, he needs to see and feel the play himself 👍
    - Have the yardages ready as quick as possible.
    - look at where the pin is on the green before you tee off on Par4s, then pick a side of fairway to aim at.
    - Give an instant target from tees, it's not a debate.
    - Tell him the wind, never ask him where he thinks it is.
    - Don't mention where the 'trouble' is, tell him where the safe side is (don't think of pink elephants!)
    - Let him pull his own clubs out of the bag then it becomes part of his pre shot.
    - Tell him before every shot (but NEVER when he's over the ball) something like "pick your spot and commit pal!"... to get him focused.
    - Stay out of his way! IE on tees, get away to the side, same on fairways, on greens, give your line and back well away.
    - Finally, don't take too long over shots, it really pisses other players off!
    ...be his advisor and motivator, not his coach fella!
    Well played Jimmy 👌
    Good luck gents 👍

    Judging by these comments a lot of pros watched this video and clearly, they've never misjudged a putt or club choice and nor has their caddy! Must be difficult being as perfect as some people.
    This is a superb video. Jimmy knows his club choices and distances and Ange is learning. But he still helped significantly - and I'm sure he did a lot more across the entire round to help keep Jimmy focussed and on it. It's only a game and these lads have a lot of fun playing it. For me, that's the reason to keep watching them. Keep it going as it's the best golf channel on RUclips.

    As a caddie with 25 years experience, I just wanted to say well done Ange! It’s not bloody easy and many think that it is easy!
    The nerves will ease the more rounds you play together but one piece of advice I’ll give both of you is this….
    Let Jim worry about the lie, slope and angle on the iron shots, just be ready with a number when he asks and make sure the clubs are ready to go.
    It’s very common with new caddies to overthink and get involved too much, but you guys work well together and you’ll be just fine.
    Well done Ange great job mate.

      Just a question as a casual golf watcher what should a caddy be bringing to the table to help their golfer? Is it knowledge of the greens? Understanding where to place the ball on a fairway etc? Also if you're a new caddy with no experience what's the best way to prepare for a course?

    • @ATbaitboats
      @ATbaitboats 7 месяцев назад

      @@richuk69great question Rich! For a new caddie, knowledge of the course is a huge edge, learn to read manual yardages from course markers or yardage books, don’t be afraid to make your own notes too. Learn to read breaks, up, down, both sides, not so much an issue in the UK but the grain of the grass on the green can impact how the ball will react too, into the grain will be slower, with the grain faster etc.
      With regards to player interaction, agree before hand what input the player wants, do they just want a yardage or help with club selection, if they want club selection you’ll need to know their numbers with regards to how far they hit the ball, write them down!
      You’ll just have to suck it and see, each player is different with regards to what they want/need. Be prepared and be helpful 😊

    • @richuk69
      @richuk69 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@ATbaitboats interesting insight thanks. I do know that having a good caddy is massive so in your opinion will Ange hinder Jimmy with his lack of experience? I'm imagining other caddies who have a proper understanding of things like reading greens, yardage, club selection. Everyone has to start somewhere but preparing to make a run at the Open is probably a bit deep

    • @ATbaitboats
      @ATbaitboats 7 месяцев назад

      @@richuk69 it’s a good point but you have to remember this run at the Open is RUclips content first and foremost, plus obviously Jim wants to see how good his game is.
      As long as they have a chat and set out the roles and responsibilities in advance, Ange will be a huge benefit.
      Bag preparation, hydration, reminding the player to drink/eat on the way round, club preparation, make sure they are spotlessly clean after every shot, walk the course the day/morning of the event, note the run offs, bad misses, areas you can miss, the hazards and the potential lines off the tees, it’s all about preparation and when it’s go time just being a calming influence and positive replies to questions, get the yardage book and use it to make notes, especially on multi round events.
      Ange will grow into the role and they’ll develop their own special rapport and ways of working.
      Some players I’ve bagged for don’t want any input under 100 yards in as it mainly about feel and precision. I’ll offer a landing zone based on pin position and slope but that’s it.
      Other players want EVERY number and every parameter thrown at them.
      They’ll be absolutely fine! 😊

    Brilliant to watch and well played Jim under that pressure. Ang quality and Tubes enthusiasm is second to none. My only surprise was that Jim hasn’t played it being a local course. Tandridge is gorgeous

    Brilliant effort Jimmy, I think that tee shot on the 15th threw you sideways, recovery shot was great considering the lie. Tee shot on 17 was superb. You definitely have what it takes just gotta break 70 in practice and bring it to the match. Absolutely great golf!

    So many people could learn from JB's attitude. Would love to play with the guy... Can laugh at his own mistakes and doesn't stress even though he clearly wants to do well. Absolute pleasure to watch ☺️

    Best golf content on RUclips by a country mile. Jimmy with his game face is something the rest of RUclips golf doesn’t have.
    Ange was the perfect foil for him 🙌🏼
