I am an old hard rock lady from Germany. I couldn't explain why the music of VOB touches my heart and my soul. When I heard this song for the first time, I had tears in my eyes and goosebumps allover. I agree, that perhaps all the struggles this young ladies have been going through might be the cause. Well, they sing, that they want to play music to show their souls. Perhaps that's what touches my soul. Over this they seem to be extremely talented, the way the treat their Instruments. But at last it isn't perfection but the showing their soul in their music what hits me. I can feel what they play - something that doesn't happen that often to me.

I'm glad you discussed this 👍.. actually there are many Muslim communities with different streams in Indonesia.. the people in the village they come from, most of them are a hard-line and anti-tolerance Islamic group.. they bully young VOB every day to break up this band.. they said that Muslim women could not play music (haram), especially rock and metal.. that was a betrayal and an insult to Islam.. there was only 1 schoolteacher who protected the VOB metal 🤟dreams .. coincidentally the teacher used to be in a rock band too...
just for info, our indonesian president (Jokowi) is a true metal head.. all of us Indonesians know the facts, but he cannot openly say it in public because he avoids negative political issues from these hard-line Muslim groups..

They are from small village. 2 hours from the nearest city.
In 2014 they started to learn to play music from 1 of their islamic yunior high school.
At their place, played metal music is odd.
I'm an ancient blues and metalhead who just lucked into your channel. You give a genuine, informed reaction with considered commentary unlike most others for whom 'wow!' repeated frequently is as good as it gets. I've been following VOB for two years and have seen most of their video output. It was great to watch and listen to your reaction - especially those moments when you were briefly lost for words and needed to compose yourself - as it reminded me of how I felt the first time I heard them and how I still feel whenever they put out new material whether their own songs or covers. They are a pure joy with serious intent sustained by astonishing musicianship. And they're so young! Thank you for your incisive content. I've subscribed and liked and will be looking out for more in the future.

"God, Allow Me (Please) to Play Music". This single came after the personnel consisting of three veiled women experienced a bit of intolerance in the environment. Criticism and stigma came and went from all directions and almost made them want to give up on the music scene in 2016.
"The more we try to avoid criticism, distanced himself, it became even more vicious, it provoked us to fight even more outspokenly," VoB vocalist and guitarist Firdda "Marsya" Kurnia said in an official statement.
"We want people listening to this song to be more tolerant of other people. God does not belong to just one person or a group of people," said Marsya.
"So, everyone has the right to creation, and the responsibility for their creation is given by God," Marsya continued.
Voice of Baceprot (VoB) is one of the Indonesian metal band groups that speak out loud about social issues. Marsya, the vocalist, revealed that the songs were explored from everyday experiences to reading references.

@wolfkain, the bad ass who wrote almost all VOB song is @abah Erza, their "teacher" when they were in Junior High. Abah Erza also who Create this band from scratch starting with 15 members, he who teach them to Play Music from Zero, indeed from Zero !!
