- This lovely performance to "Waltz Treste" was skated TWICE due to a problem with his music. That he could skate so beautifully, speaks to his conditioning, discipline, and resolve!
With his own commentary, for Canadian TV. That he had to repeat the performance, was never mentioned on the versions shown in other countries.
Незабываемый, великий Толлер Крэнстон! Как ждала его выхода на лед в 70-х годах, как переживала за него на Олимпиаде в 1976. И сегодня, глядя на него, замирает сердце. Вечная память!
He should have got 10 marks all over!!! Think about to skate TWICE this very nice program! Really a "welltrained animal" and never stopped to perform. I can understand that he started the program all over again but OMG: such a physical condition he had!!! And the grace and discipline he had! Therefore alonehe should have 10's all over !!
My God....he had to have been tired! Go Toller! Never forgotten my friend!
Sparkles and Spotlights. The world of Toller Cranston. And two for the price of one. Who were the cheapies that gave him 9.9s. The man is a total Ten. Thatyou for this wonderful 7 minutes!
Magic on ice.
As a born couch potato and knowing nothing whatever about the technical side of figure skating, I have loved this particular performance since first seeing it in 1997. I adore this piece of music and, for me at least, Toller Cranston interpreted it beautifully. Perfection? Who knows? Who cares? I could (and do) watch this again and again.
Everyone has their own opinion. Mine is that Cranston was a technically strong, powerful and yet very graceful and artistic skater. Another review mentioned "ability to emote" as if it was something minimal...I believe "ability to emote" is what differentiates skaters who are otherwise technically strong. And what are they OUT there for, if not to emote?? As for his "interviews" and comments about other skaters, well, I haven't seen them so I won't say anything. But I believe his skating per se. needs to be evaluated on its own. And Toller Cranston was one of a kind.
Mr. Cranston is a talented and sexy gent with staying power. No one will put him out to pasture.
@skatesindreams - That's not Dick Button he is talking to.
that's Misha Petkevich, I think.
