Love that cascade at 0:58! Those grips are sure strong on the truck. Like at 5:20 :D I can't just stop replaying it. Just love that Rehrig getting squished. LOL. Superb vid!
Nice work! These are my favorite grippers. Never knew they were still made till Athens showed these. Loved all that gripping. Must have been fun to see in person. Like to see all these old carts. Can't wait to see what you have next in store!
Where to start... AFAIK they havent adjusted the grippers yet, some of the carts actually have black circles on them now. The entire city is like that in terms of parking, last week someone actually moved my carts so they could park there. The 35 cascades are pretty dicey to grab (filmed a few once) because there wheels don't extend out enough to hit the grippers (probably why mine went missing...). It will be interesting to see if these trucks can break rehrigs faster than LA amreps.
Great video! Nice and shinny truck! I agree, the power is in need of some adjustment... I believe Beverly Hills Rapid Rails have somewhat similar gripper, not the same, but similar. Greens and RRs FTW.
Yeah, all the blue carts arent getting replaced (There are still a good number of trash & greens carts that they never took also). The rollout actually wasn't Athens' idea, the city's RFP mandated replacement of trash and greens carts in the first year.
That happened today, a RR with belted grippers showed up instead of a curotto for some reason (also 2 hours later?). It actually gripped my 35 rehrig better than these truchs seem to do... On an unrelated note, residents seem to be catching on to the worthlessness of rehrig. The supervisor? came by with a new 35 green (because they got confused when I reported my old 35 as missing), he said they're trying to give everyone new carts, but people don't want to get rid of their old ones LOL.
That trucks absolutely beautiful!!! I really like Athens' red and grey scheme, looks just as awesome nice and fresh. Those grabbers are waaaaaay too powerful, really pancakes some of those carts, surprised half the contents fall out as easy as they do. I reckon this video shows you just how quiet NG trucks are... you've got the exhaust right under the chassis there and can't hear shit :( Fail at 9:50 hehe
I finally noticed that some of the old carts had vent holes in them. Cool. There must have been a black hole in that manual bin, because it was like a constant, never-ending stream of stuff!! Is this the only Athens footage you got? I was wondering how this RR would take greens, as some of your other videos show they are not the best for that commodity. And you can always film as much yardwaste with an ASL because I WILL watch it all. Awesome job!!
Did you guys shoot this footage in Redondo Beach? If so, I didn't know that Athen's is now operating out there now. I remember when Consolidated started picking up out there. It's amazing how quickly you can get and lose a contract... :-O
What City was this video taken. But nice ASL Athens did always looked first Class . There’s is one Contract I’ve never seen Athens try or get East Los Angeles county garbage Disposal District. City Terrence lot of hills. But I like to see them have it I worked in East Los Angeles County District for 7 years. All MANUAL TRASH PICK UP A WHOLE Two loaded 18-21 tons routes . We had no Recycling Totters at this time it was just something you just hear about Automated System for Res pick up . Then years later here it is.

I love how the grabber is different
Nice looking truck! Those grippers are strong; some of those carts were murdered! Great job!

Nice job! These are the same trucks that they are bringing here in Winnipeg for the new automated system except ours are run on CCC cabs

3:36 i miss that sound
Just so you know you said in the desc. that you didn't get any OP's on film but there were some.

Awesome! Are you going to the LA Sanitation open yard this coming month?
Nice video, love the new truck. What camera are you using?
Great job! I love the cart variety. These grippers can really crunch a cart. What was the driver saying to you? something like " dont film the can" ?
If I remember correctly it was either late 2003 / early 2004
AFAIK- As Far As I Know. Hopefully the SSIs will last longer than the rehrigs
Didn’t redondo beach have WM?
Cool viedo
can you film more of this truck

Why do some of the Cascade carts have lines of 5 little holes in the side?
+trashmonster26 They have holes and a false bottom for ventilation... designed to prevent grass from getting stuck, for example
That's pretty clever of them...
can you film this truck on recycling
0:56 96 evo?
How much shit can fit in that can at 5:44??
