Ministry created this kind of sound,it's called Industrial! The Idea is to give the feel of a Machine that does what it does, absolutely mercyless. This whole album is a timeless Masterpiece!
well....they were part of it. The creators of Industrial would be Skinny Puppy, Nurse With Wound and Throbbing Gristle. Ministry came around the same time as Godflesh and Pitchshifter.
@@Kelly_Cook Around the same time some of those dudes were pioneering industrial Ministry was actually making post-punk.
One of the coldest guitar riffs ever.
Fax
I just learned how to play it.
There’s no easing into Metal Music. You go in hard and raw and without lube.
just like anal
Not true, my sister eased into metal by listening to progressively harder stuff. But yeah most people just give it a go, or are listening to it only because other people around them are and don't really connect with it until the right track plays and sort of unlocks the whole thing for them. I'd wager these two would have a different opinion of this track if they came back to it later, it just takes the right song.
This band gave birth to bands like NIN, White Zombie, and Rammstein.
This entire album is gold, GOLD! What makes it especially great is if you listen to earlier Ministry like "Everyday is Halloween" then listen to this album. It's like music from two different realities. I consider this type of music industrial rather than metal. It has metal elements but that's not what it's about. It's close to Nine Inch Nails than it is to Black Sabbath is what I'm saying. Jesus Built My Hotrod is another one of my favorites off this album.
T.V.Too
‘Over the shoulder’ and ‘we believe’ amazing industrials
i mean, its industrial metal. It's very clear metal guitar. Ministry moved more & more into industrial metal until that was basically all they do. They were on the Nuclear Blast label last I saw.
I used to put this cd on after hours at work. The ghost that haunted subway apparently hated ministry as the disc would shoot out of the player and skid ten feet away. Never stopped me from getting it and popping it back in. Dueues subway ghost.
Ministry is instant adrenaline!
Damn i love ministry, from the early 80s synth to the kickass industrial metal
Seeing her face at the beginning was great. Thieves is also another cool song by them.
In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up ( live ) 89-90 is the sickest live album ever. 2 drummers Bill Reiflin and Martin Atkins. 3 minute drums solos in the beginning of Breathe.
This song is DIRTY!!! Ministry rules! 93 Do What Thou Wilt! The "Just One Fix" is the shout of just one more Heroin shot! It meant a lot to him at that time, and he doesn't give a fuck if you don't understand it!
Seen them with Helmet and Sepultura back in the day great times
Jealous AF
"Everyday is Halloween" is worth a listen.
Me: rocking out. Wife: tearing off the headphones and rolling her eyes. 😅
This song makes me get speeding tickets when I play it in my car.
To me, it's a song about addiction and the repeating of "Just One Fix" over and over backed by that relentless riff on loop, with the pounding rhythms, is all meant to be 100% about addiction and how everything else is drowned out as one can only think about the next time they're getting high. It's just got such a relentless forward momentum, a carniverous groove, and a mechanized pulse. This is one of my favorite jams of all time.
Just to throw in my two cents, not everything hits us completely on one listen and we're all into different things. For me, I've never been turned off by not being able to tell what lyrics are being sung if I like the sound of everything else that's happening. Different styles communicate different things. Heavier music is less about the conventional dynamics of pop song writing, so what is being said is lyrically is supplemental to the song instrrumentally.
Ministry is the top shelf of Heavy.
Never trust a junkie
Blood keeps drifting your way
Certain of its destination
Driving through New Orleans at night
Gotta find a destination
Just one fix
Just one fix
Just one fix
Just one fix
Life keeps slipping away
Fighting in a war with damnation
Poised, keep cutting away
I'm looking in through to salvation
Just one fix
Just one fix
Just one fix
Just one fix
Just one fix
Just one fix
Just one fix
Just one fix
Just one fix
Just one fix
Just one fix
Just one fix
Like if I boarded a train
Trying to take in another station
Join us and the choice will be made
Unless we kill the lie as a nation
Just one fix (just one fix)
Just one fix (just one fix)
Just one fix (just one fix)
Just one fix (just one fix)
Just one fix (one fix, one fix)
Just one fix (one fix, one fix)
Just one fix (one fix, one fix)
Just one fix (one fix, one fix)
Just one fix (one fix, one fix)
Just one fix (one fix, one fix)
Just one fix (one fix, one fix)
The effect on the vocals was intentional. It was about the Al Jourgensen's struggle his struggle with sobriety from heroin. He's trying to focus on other things but the only thing loud and clear in his life is his addiction to drugs.
Its amazing Al did this 30 years ago . Im not sure anyone is every ready to hear ministry for for the first time . Its like getting comfortable with getting punched in the face .
So much good stuff from Ministry. Let it go and go with it!!! Never trust a junkie.
Ministry - Thieves 🔥
Not strictly metal, its industrial music which incorporates lots of styles like electronic, techno, metal, punk... Ministry are pioneers in this field
This sound legit makes you wanna go out into the streets! Ministry makes you wanna tear it all down.
This was played at clubs in Miami. We danced to it.
Guy gets it
Ministry is not an 'acquired taste'. Ministry is something you get force-fed and when it's done you beg for more!!
Scarecrow and Psalm 69 you might like and understand better. N.W.O and the first 2 above are my favorites on this album.
Thanks for reacting to one of my favorite Ministry songs. The only song most people react to is "Jesus Built My Hotrod".
Great music your listening to music not the words he was the music writer and music producer of hundreds of songs
There are no official lyrics to Ministry songs. That's the message.
I never listened to these guys for the lyrics, more for the vibe.
Industrial Metal Rave let's go!!!!
Soundtrack to the movie "Cool World" was my first exposure to Ministry.
Same. Am I remembering right, was Brad Pitt in that?
This songs makes me read the terms of service and DECLINE.
And that Slayer „South of Heaven“ riff at 06:35 is awesome.
Need to watch the video for So What line in ‘89 to really understand the music and what it was about
This was 1991 Lollapalooza. Ice Cube said he was terrified and became friends with him. Ain't getting effided with out Vaseline was allllll hard core shit
I totally get it that this isn't everybody's cup of tea: unless it's spiked with some Jagermeister and there's graffiti painted on the cup!
When you can't understand a word of what they saying hurts being a fan.
This is my kind of gospel music. Also... Ministry is an ambiance. The lyrics hardly matter. Sweat, frustration leaving the body, mosh pits... chaos. That's the point. I could go on about how Industrial metal is a reflection of the corrosive effects of our culture, etc... but it's really about the energy.
Hypnotic but as heavy as it gets
It’s also extremely precise and they actually play this stuff live.
Look up the lyrics
Your Wife will like Ministry's first Album: With Sympathy 1983. Totally Ear Friendly New Wave/ Synth Pop
LOL, Chod's first statement, exactly what these kinds of Ministry songs make you feel.
Just one riff.
Just one riff caz is repetitive as a heroin fix effect trip..is like an anthem
You need to open your minds. Fix means a shot of heroine
You should do ...JESUS BUILT MY HOT ROD...by the same band...it's a rockabilly jam
his face: hell yeah. her face: hell no.
The Masters of industrial....
MInistry 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
the look on your wife's face right around 3:44 or so... " when will this song be over..." lol...
I love Ministry, but yea, this isn't for everyone.... lol Love your channel folks!
Chod and Dee, you never know what you are going to get when you two release a reaction. This one wasn't my favorite but one of the reasons I love you two is you never know what to expect. You are truly the definition of "eclectic musical taste". Now for the reason I need to plead to you... Aaron and Hendrik from Dirty Loops did a side project called "Songs for Lovers" during the covid lockdown. I really need you to check them out. "Bitten by the Kitten", "Old Armando Had a Farm", "Pink Power" and my favorite "Coffee Break is Over" which is the only of the 4 videos that they bring Jonah into. Being a drummer myself, I love watching Chod's facial reactions when Aaron or Hendrik go off on a crazy run but I have to admit that having your beautiful wife in the videos enhances the overall experience. I still say that out of all of the reactors I have watched over the past year or so, you two are at the top.
Ministry is an acquired taste!Good video!
Never trust a junkie should be a clue what the song’s about
Dont worry about not getting the lyrics sometimes a song just works, look at Rammstein for example i dont speak german but the music just works
Definitely about drugs! The singer has said he’s had issues. Industrial Metal!
never trust a junkie
Going to see Ministry next month
Hooray
The vocal effects are typical in industrial metal music. This type of song has a drive that is specific to the mosh pit scene/body slam scene at the time. A live version video would better give context to what this type of music is designed for.
Yeah it's about drugs. Lead singer Al Jourgensen was addicted to Heroin for over 20 years.
6:00 You interrupts that psychedelic trance lead. Why you bother with this kind of music if you're not hooked by it?
So back then they were really trying to push what they could do in the studio with the technology of that time. This album and others featured different distortions for each song. Ministry even said they actually hated alot of metal and its stereotypical musical trappings and identified more with punk and industrial. Considering their start as newave synthpop then to all industrial electronic to cyberpunk and electrothrash they were always stayed away from regular rock format. Anyway so the liquidy effect was them trying to do something interesting with the vocals. Never heard any other band pull that effect off. Sometimes you need to look up vocals. Not hard.
Yeah,it isn't for lightweights...I find metal corny. This isn't metal. It's Industrial. Jourgenson was a genius and changed music. See also Revolting Cocks and many other bands he fronted. We loved bands like this in the late 80's and 90's because they weren't mainstream and didn't dumb it down to lowest common denominator
This song is about the horrors of looking after your heroin addiction.
It sure is. Al Jourgensen was heavy on the drugs when recording this..
Is just one riff a repetitive sound like a h side effect like an anthem
@@eltonazo yeah it’s not exactly precision thrash metal.
You guys should go back to the beginning of the band now. Check out the album With Sympathy.
I just got TWO Fix's!!!!! Thank you Mrs. Wilburn. 🙂
Ministry is a mess. My fav all time band- seen them many times. Def an acquired taste
Love Ministry!!! This is industrial Metal and its unfortunately a rather boring song from them. Hero or TV II if you want to have your mind blown, or earlier songs that arent that ”out there” like Stigmata or Flashback.
Their early 90s shows were to die for with the France keeping the audience from the band was set 3 feet onto the stage allowing for non stop stage diving shenanigans…. You can watch ”breathe” from them live to see some of that madness.
And yes, its about drugs…
Breathe is fuckin awesome, 2 drummers 3 minute drums solos sick
Industrial Music was never meant for the mainstream contemporary ear of even extreme metal. It was about creating the greatest song possible without the need for hiring the greatest vocalist or coming up with the best hook
Gentleman enjoying , Lady shaking her Head not understanding ... maybe Women and Men are different for a Reason , different "Jobs"
Check out the music video. Pretty sick.
It's amusing to see how disappointed the girl looks. I love music in general and I absolutely love Ministry. The thing is - at some point you have to let go of your personal preferences to be able to really get into music. You don't necessarily have to like something to be able to say that it's good. You know what I mean? I feel like she hasn't taken this step yet.
Love your energy nevertheless. Keep your mind open for any genre!
Apparently you never listened to Ministry.....That's the.charm of this band. No two tracks sound the same. If you want clarity in the lyrics you may need to go back to the 1983 release "With Sympathy". Ministry is industrial personified. This track deals with addiction(of any kind). Al Jourgeson who is Ministry was on a serious heroin bender from the Twitch release until about Filth Pig. Just a suggestion you might try reviewing something from that release. But Psalm 69 was a masterpiece.
she hates it. lol
Check out White Zombie, Thunderkiss 69.
That dude hes got a good looking waffy yes she's a pretty thing oh yeah
Lyrics are almost a tertiary concern to a lot of metal, it's odd that you'll find some of the most poetic and profound verses in songs you can't even hear properly. Grindcore for example, totally about the sound. Death Metal; some of the most compelling lyricists in the world with a delivery you can't understand. It doesn't matter, it's not about that. Understanding the lyrics gives you a more complete appreciation but it just isn't necessary.
You haven't done a song by your favorite group in a long time. Here's a good one you haven't done yet. "In the Presence of". Good live version here: ruclips.net/video/X_KDXoMB5wg/видео.html
A better example from them is a song off of this album called Jesus built my hotrod. Check it out!
I like Your brown eyes girl.
There not metal, there considered INDUSTRIAL MUSIC
Like Nine Inch Nails
Plus the singer is pretty much high all the time on stage
Try a live version.
Ministry is industrial maybe not your cup of tea, the best
You need to react to Ministry "Corrosion" and "Grace".
Look up the lyrics ahead of reacting.
My favorite song from my favorite band. You have to appreciate the vox, otherwise you foolishly bad mouth the vocals. 🙄
Try Dokken
Sammy Hagar Heavy Metal
You guys are too used to pop music is the problem.
