In Memoriam | GM Salvador Caballero

I am saddened to announce the passing of Grandmaster Salvador Caballero, son of Grandmaster Jose Caballero, founder of the combat arnis system known as De Campo 1-2-3 Original.
GM Salvador was a gifted eskrimador that earned him the distinction of being his father's assistant instructor. He accompanied GM Jose Caballero during seminars on self-defense and has fought numerous duels with other fighters. He was proficient not only in the family art, but also with combat judo, the unarmed/empty-hand art practiced by arnisadors in the Juego Todo era. At the height of his strength, he also taught his family's art to select students.
2 months ago, he decided to visit his son Robert in Bacolod and was accompanied by his daughter Cherry who lives in Cebu.
5 days ago, he was rushed to the hospital because of respiratory ailment. He passed away around 5am today, July 6, 2018 in Bacolod.
GM Salvador is survived by his son, Robert and his daughter, Cherry. His nephew, Master Jomalin, who continues to propagate the family art, also mourns today with relatives in Toledo.
We are humbly imploring to kind-hearted arnisadors for monetary donations so that GM Salvador can at least be accorded a simple, but decent and solemn burial.
