Investors Lose Over Rs 30 Trillion on Vote Counting Day | Subscribe to Firstpost
The Indian stock market ended the election counting day session in the red. Both Sensex and Nifty closed nearly 6% down from the previous closing. Investors lost over Rs 30 Trillion (over $358 billion) during the session as the market capitalization of BSE-listed firms dropped to Rs 3,95,50,142 crore. Sensex declined over 4,300 points to close at 72,079. Meanwhile, Nifty was down 1,379 points to 21,884. The session marks the Indian stock market's biggest decline since 2020. Sector-wise, PSU Bank and other financial stocks saw large drops. Meanwhile, Oil & Gas, Metal, and Real Estate stocks also declined.
