anyone else's hair just so thick that the top and middle section will curl beautifully and then the underpart is just straight from all the weight? lmao
Bri’s life this is true. Your hair is at its most vulnerable when it’s wet. You want to touch it as little as possible while styling, until it’s fully dry.
Try scrunching out the gel after your hair dries! That "wet look" is totally okay even if your hair is totally dry, It just means you need to scrunch out your hair with a lil bit of oil.
Chloeee I think you misunderstood. She’s not saying to put gel in dry hair. Rather, to style wet hair with gel and then scrunch out the crunchy feeling from the gel when your hair is 100% dry.
Wow, your hair journey and they way that your hair didn’t get curly until later on us so similar to my journey!! I’m still working on my hair routine because I’m not 100% happy with it yet so I’m defo gonna take your advice!! Thanks so much xx
My hair is pretty much like yours! I had almost straight hair as a child and during puberty it started to get curly. This is why I have straighter pieces near my nape and near my ears 😅
We literally have the same hair. Same history. Everything. And I'm so glad you shared this because you're the first person I've found that isn't ultra curly and making me feel like what I'm doing isn't working. My hair looks just like yours after I finish styling and now I feel like it's right! 👏
Hey hun just some tips that would help u more...so since ur using silicones in ur styling products u need a sulfate to get those out...u should really look into some stylers without silicones and sulfates also...u would be surprised how much more it would help ur hair...its not helping to only change ur shampoo and conditioner, ya know...and like others said be sure u dont touch ur hair while its wet wait to scrunch out the crunch(SOTC) until completely dried to help keep frizz down.....I'm not strictly "curly girl method" but I do stick with no silicones, sulfates(except once a month), and usually drying alcohols (i sometimes will use something if i really like it or really want to try it and it works just means I have to deep condition once a week instead of once a month)....please dont take this bad I'm just trying to help bcuz ur hair is beautiful!!! Good luck hun!!!
It depends on your hair. I personally can’t use low poo shampoos because I get build up. Not from silicones in my lengths but from sebum in my roots 😂 so I feel like it removes silicones better than sebum. But hair is different, silicones and sebum (and other stuff) may have a different effect for high porosity hair then my low por. So, you could just try it out and only switch your shampoo. If your hair starts to feel or look worse than maybe it is from silicone build up. But it could also be from other ingredients, for example some people have hair that does not like coconut oil so you should try to pick a low poo that will probably work for you and does not have oils or stuff you haven’t tried already. 😊
Thank you for posting this! I feel like there's not much out there for our type of curl pattern - everything is either for super curly hair or for no curl at all. I use some of those products but will definitely check out the others!
Your leave in also contains silicones. If it works for you keep using them! Strict CG isn't for everyone. You might want to do a sulfate shampoo at some point just to reset and clear any buildup though. Also, you might have less frizz if you didn't scrunch the crunch until you are fully dried. You can also break the cast with a little bit of oil, I use argan oil. That might end up being too heavy for you but it's worth a try!
I love that garnier leave in. My daughter and I use it for our curls and eco styling gel the olive oil one. I don’t like the mousse. It makes my very very hard but my daughter loves it.
I have a similar wavy pattern except I've got a lot of really fine hair. Her hair looks pretty thick. I find spray gel gives me the best results. Those conditioning curl creams do nothing for my frizzy waves. I absolutely need some hold. Aussie makes a curl refresher spray gel that is so affordable plus it smells fantastic. If it's too crunchy when it dries you can apply a couple drops of serum or oil to soften the strands.
Love ur hair btw. Just a tip. I know u said u get frizz all over. Try not scrunching ur hair before defusing. I’ve heard and seen u get a lot less frizz if u don’t touch your hair till it’s 100% dry.
I have curly hair and have gotten compliments since I can remember. I make my own products and I LOVE adding silicones to my hair products and sometimes to my cosmetics.
hey girl! im not sure if you already found this out but Moroccan oil can actually make blonde hair darker! I think they have a version for blondes too now
Hello fellow k nelson ( I'm a keeley nelson lol) Fab video I have the same hair type and refuse to spend huge amounts on shampoos ect there isn't a huge choice here in the UK so really pleased I and across ur page xx
John Frieda is a good serum but the best serum I have found is Treluxe curl serum! It’s amazing! Plus it doesn’t have any of those no no ingredients that John freida serum has.
Silk pillow case for sure!! That and I sleep with my hair like up over my head spread out of that makes sense. And I make sure it’s completely dry. If it’s damp or wet at all I wake up and it’s a crumpled mess!
I needed this! I was so stupid on my teenage years. During my childhood, I had this beautiful golden curls, they just formed naturally. I envied straight hair cause I did not know how to style it, how to take care of it, and started using straighteners, hair straightening products and completely lost my curls. Now, staring my 30's, I chopped all my hair when COVID started. My curls are trying to come back. THANK YOU for this video!
a small suggestion: if you flip your hair that aggressively you practically ”throw out“ some of the definition you just scrunched in, so maybe handle your hair carefully while it‘s wet :)
Loved this. Beautiful hair, beautiful smile, beautiful eyes. I have wavy hair and don't use any hair products so this seemed like a ton of things to put in my hair. I don't like how it feels with product 😩 my hair also gets greasy very quickly I hate it! I do straighten mine, and sometimes use heat protector but to be honest, not as much as I should. I love all your videos, doesn't matter what you make 👌😊
Normally I hate it when people have a long intro before a vid like this, but your intro was actually very informative and helpful, fucking love that! Also we have such a similar "Hair Journey" I was born with a full head of black hair that fell out, grew in toe head blonde, curled up. It started straightening out right around when yours did, elementary age...and then one night freshman year I put my hair up in a pony before bed a bit wet and awoke to little ringlets behind my ears. I thought "Holy shit, is my hair curly again?!" I did exactly as you did, went for the mouse all the women in my family slathered on in the 80s. I hated the crunchy or never ever fully dry look, so I either straightened or just wore it in a messy bun For YEARS. And my hair has suffered from that greatly. PLEASE LADIES, AND GENTS TOO...IF YOU HAVE CURLY HAIR JUST BE NICE TO IT. EMBRACE IT, DON'T FRY IT WITH A STRAIGHTENER. DON'T TIE IT BACK TIGHT. LET YOUR CURLS BREATHE, AND THEY'LL BE BEAUTIFUL
Try to make dedolis, you can search for dedolis, I think it is more common here in Brazil, but you just divide your hair into thin strands and roll it, then roll it up, then you knead it
being more gentle with applying your products and applying the mousse while the hair is SOAKING wet will help create curl clumps, then put it up in your cotton t-shirt in a "plop" will help preserve the curl clumps, and the product is in the hair to hold the curls while they dry. the curly girl method is really good and you should try out some of their tips, I think they might help :-)
Soooo I honestly my hair started to become wavy and no my curls are coming out and I’m 23. I didn’t know what to do with my hair until now. Thank you!! 😭
do you have layers in the back of your hair? i see you have the face framing layers. we have pretty identical curl types (and even natural color!) and i want to try layers to get more volume as the back of my hair falls really flat, and it’s an unflattering shape. is your hair thin? i only ask because mine is, and if you DO have layers and thin hair at least i’ll know it looks lovely. Also- i find a lot of success from the “squish to condish” method upside down in the shower. you should try it! it gives nice curl clumps. you can also try letting the gel get crispy and then scrunching the crunch out once it’s fully dry-really helps with frizz. you could probably get some really nice ringlets with the curly girl method!
That leave in has silicone too. Just watch the buildup because you're using a sulfate free shampoo, but silicone in your other products. I'd clarify with a laureth sulfate once a week
did you leave the whole combing part out? also I think the more products, the more the hair weighs down. I am also struggling with it since being a kid…
Literally I’ve had the same hair color and texture journey as you! Crazy! Right down to the honey blonde phase. The only difference is I goofed up and went full platinum blonde two years ago and I’ve been cutting and growing my natural hair color out since then. Now that I have all hair color gone from my hair, I’ve been looking for a hair color that is reddish blonde. Your color is GORGEOUS! My question for you is what does your stylist do? I’m getting my hair colored for the first time in almost 3 years next week and need to know what to tell my stylist. Do you get a partial head of blonde highlights with red lowlights? My natural hair color is almost the same as yours. Thank you for this video! Literally adding all these items to my amazon cart as I’m watching this 😂 it’s been a struggle to get my natural hair to look like this! The frizz makes me want to rip my hair out 😭
That’s awesome! I just do blonde highlights and brown low lights but she does like 70/30 blonde to brown. I’m not sure what color brown she uses but it’s definitely like a light brown with reddish undertones and then a blonde coloring not bleach!
Me over here watching all these videos where products work so well for someone. And I put any protein on my hair & it turns into stiff straw that breaks off 😩
Try to let your hair dry naturally, there are many ways to finish your hair on RUclips, test it until you find one you can define more on the side, your hair is very beautiful ❤️
Me too!! Literally looked like I straighten my hair everyday during elementary and middle school but it was natural. After sophomore year my hair started getting wavy, then I chopped my hair to my shoulders a little over a year ago and now have I have crazy curly curly hair! I was so confused lol
Yeah that’ll be your puberty hormonal changes 😂😂😂 I had real tight ringlet curls as a kid and now that I’m grown up and my hormones have changed I have a much looser curl pattern, but I’ve been blessed with the ginger genes so I’ll always have curly hair ☺️
Love your hair and the video ❤️BUT silicones and sulfates are not at all bad for you - dry/frizzy hair actually can be caused by product build up (not just silicones but also butters, oils etc.) which can ALL be removed with a clearifying shampoo every 4th wash or so - as long as you wash everything out so to say silicones are fine and even have a lot of benefits
What kind of haircut/layers do you have? I nevvver find videos of people with the same hair type as me and yours in both color and curl type is so similar to mine! I unfortunately do not have layers right now though so my curls are so weighed down by the length that I can't seem to keep the curls in tact anymore but I don't know what style to tell my hairdresser!
I actually want to add layers to my hair but my hair dresser always trims my ends but she always takes more from the pieces around my face to frame my face!
I thought Garnier Fructis obtain silicone. I used the apple extract one before and my hair was soft and smelt amazing but stopped after finding out about what silicone does to your hair. Do you think its ok to use?
If you wait until your hair is dry before touching and tossing your hair it will hold the curl better. But maybe you like it a little less curly idk. 😁
do you sleep with the shea moisture protein mask in your hair? I'm scared to get protein overload but at the same time i feel like 20 mins is not long enough for that treatment
i love how you use simple products you can find at the store instead of expensive custom ones. thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!!
anyone else's hair just so thick that the top and middle section will curl beautifully and then the underpart is just straight from all the weight? lmao
yyyeeessss
YES drives me mad
I'm the opposite my hair is thin and curly so the top is flat against my head and the bottom is a bunch of puffy ringlets. I look like a witch
mines the opposite. the bottom is so heavy that the top is super straight lmao
So will it dry like this? Will it be the same results if I air dry my hair?
Your hair should be 100% dry before you scrunch out the crunch or use your fingers in your hair.. that is what creates the frizz
It dose?
Bri’s life this is true. Your hair is at its most vulnerable when it’s wet. You want to touch it as little as possible while styling, until it’s fully dry.

Try scrunching out the gel after your hair dries! That "wet look" is totally okay even if your hair is totally dry, It just means you need to scrunch out your hair with a lil bit of oil.
My hair was stick straight until I was 13 then it started growing wavy at the roots while the ends were still straight🤧
mine is the complete opposite! my roots are straight by the ends are 2b 2c , my hairs still in transition and it’s bothering me sm 😭😭

@@dilakkambarova2365 same!
Scrunch the gel cast AFTER it drys!! I bet ur frizz will be less 🙌🏼 Touching jt while wet causes frizz so I’d be careful!

You must not have curly hair imagine adding gel when your hair is dry. Wow that makes me cringe thinking about it🤢🤣
Chloeee I think you misunderstood. She’s not saying to put gel in dry hair. Rather, to style wet hair with gel and then scrunch out the crunchy feeling from the gel when your hair is 100% dry.

I wonder if a low poo will remove the silicones from the frizz ease. That was always my go to before starting the curly girl method.
You could try a clarifying shampoo with sulphates maybe once a month to remove product build up :)
It depends on your hair. I personally can’t use low poo shampoos because I get build up. Not from silicones in my lengths but from sebum in my roots 😂 so I feel like it removes silicones better than sebum. you’re pretty af, i think you’d look good with red hair also. glad for the curly tips
You should wait until your hair is 100% dry before scrunching out the crunch. It will help reduce frizz and give more hold to the curls/waves!

Me too!! Literally looked like I straighten my hair everyday during elementary and middle school but it was natural. After sophomore year my hair started getting wavy, then I chopped my hair to my shoulders a little over a year ago and now have I have crazy curly curly hair! I was so confused lol
omg same wth
Yeah that’ll be your puberty hormonal changes 😂😂😂 I had real tight ringlet curls as a kid and now that I’m grown up and my hormones have changed I have a much looser curl pattern, but I’ve been blessed with the ginger genes so I’ll always have curly hair ☺️
Ugh same
Love your hair and the video ❤️BUT silicones and sulfates are not at all bad for you - dry/frizzy hair actually can be caused by product build up (not just silicones but also butters, oils etc.) which can ALL be removed with a clearifying shampoo every 4th wash or so - as long as you wash everything out so to say silicones are fine and even have a lot of benefits
Your hair is so perfect but I have a question, does the diffuser really help?
The diffuser just makes more defined curls!
I thought Garnier Fructis obtain silicone. I used the apple extract one before and my hair was soft and smelt amazing but stopped after finding out about what silicone does to your hair. Do you think its ok to use?
As long as you use a sulfate occasionally to cleanse the silicones, it’ll be okay. Like once a month depending on how your hair feels
If you wait until your hair is dry before touching and tossing your hair it will hold the curl better. But maybe you like it a little less curly idk. 😁
I’ve tried everything on my hair to make it look curly but it’s always a frizzy tangly ugly ball of hair! Help me out PLEASE
Do you wash everyday? How do you wear your hair while sleeping to keep curls? Loved the video
I wash every other or every 2! I usually twist it up into a bun without a hair tie :)
Can you put the link to the diffuser piece?
The diffuser came with the hair dryer!
do you sleep with the shea moisture protein mask in your hair? I'm scared to get protein overload but at the same time i feel like 20 mins is not long enough for that treatment
I have the same litter box! Haha. Love your hair!! Gorgeous color 😻😻
Finally someone who doesn't film themselves taking shower and put it on net. Like how do others feel okay doing that. I would never
this vid was super helpful, thanks! :)
So it looks great on the day you shampoo....but what about day 2 or day 3 hair? How do you bring it back?
Spritz of water with gel and scrunch! A little dry shampoo.
