Really enjoyable video - the H.R.D. is a real peach - tremendous performance for such an old machine . . . Mr Davies, thank you . .

Beautiful bikes, well done. Talk about ride by levers, they would take getting used to operating 4 levers, a hand gear change plus the clutch 😳

So many things to keep control of, over more recent bikes.
    Timing, mixture, . . . ..

Fantastic Video Log Alex & John. The B31 looks like a reasonably priced classic that would be fun to ride on rural roads. And, the '26 HRD is brilliant! Absolutely aeronautical in appearance and even in operation with the throttle lever. Thank you for filming and narrating the ride in a way that brings us along and shares the experience of operating the bike. What fun!

Always enjoy the videos on both of your channels but the P.O.V. on the HRD was especially good. 👌

Wow, what a lovely bike, you've opened my eyes up to a different type of riding. I'm used to a 60's T120, this HRD is so much more. Thank you for running though what all the controls do, I never knew they needed so much constant adjusting, it makes my T120 a twist-and-go bike. You've now sewn the seed, I want one of these bikes :). Lovely video, thanks.

Really enjoyed the show and tell inside listening to you celebrate the highs and lows.
Your skills riding the HRD are exceptional, and there’s me thinking riding my 60’s and 70’s bikes takes a bit of talent!!
A great video thanks for putting it together.

Great run at the end on the HRD, I've never ridden a bike with lever throttle (plus the other three !..) but it certainly looks like the definition of the old motorcycle press tester's comment 'an involving ride' !!..

New subscriber! I just bought a 1929 Matchless T4. Learned a bit from your video, but I've yet to take it out on the open road. After decades of riding Japanese bikes, this is going to be challenging! Can't ruddy wait!

So the "Choke" is actually an overall mixture strength control? The pilot is taking the role of the needle and needle jet in a later instrument.

Great vid! I especially loved watching the operation of the HRD. Question though - how is the clutch actuated?

A great bike but you definitely need a speedometer. So as not to spoil its originalty use a handlebar mounted 'phone on satnav.

    • @classicbikeman

Hi gerry - good question - its a lever to provide a manual pump of oil directly to the bottom end/crank. Just to supplement the pilgrim oil pump if your riding hard/long. I never need to use it normally as the pilgrim pump keeps up with me and my riding style 👍
