Assalamou 3alayka It categorocly true that "sihr" is forbidden in islam as it lead to "chirk" (meaning worshiping another being or concepte that is not god ). The sirh or magic or as i like to call it dark psycologiy and hypnosys may have a devastating outcom on both the practitionner "saher" and the target or prey. But this kind of manipulation of reality (i am sorry for quoting the video) can be achieved in numerous ways, all depending on the wielder's intetion and clarity of mind. If the mind and the body are pure, "suffy" magic can have a number outcoms such as healing of physical and mental ailements, purification from the demonic magic, deep understanding of the universe "al ulum al khafiya", clarity and awareness and many more such metaphysical feets. The word magic has been holywooded for so many years, and it does not mean what the video games and movies depict, one cannot pull a fireball for thin air. But one can invent the lighter and lighter fluid, this in a sens is magic, only things that exist CAN be turned into something else. The laws of thermodynamics can never be broken in any means; (Hey there is still a lot of wiggle room, you after all are reading this on as very powerfull magical device) All i mean to say is that magic is not really as stupid as it is in your mind, what is broken can be mended and what is a strong oak tree can be fell, although not with with your bare hands. Miracles are still possible with the power of the human brain. Just look at newyork .If that's not magic then i don't know what is. THX FOR REEAAADING HAVE A BLESSED DAY SPELL ON ME $$$$$$$$$$$$$
@@alexxlarx224 your thinking maybe right in a way as you try to deviate in a positive view of it. But what has been forbidden is stated in the Quran and will be taken as is the law set by god. The reason has been given by itself in the term 'Shirik' and has been put as the highest form of sin that even god doesn't forgive. That aside if you do research in the word 'Magic' itself, it will appear in many different countries and in different languages in almost similar pronunciation and connotation. The word 'magic' will always mean and derive from the word 'demon' and 'way' or 'technique'. As you have said sufism mysticism may also be seen as magic but it actually isnt. Using the words from Quran itself has its own 'power' given by god to one who prays and ask from him as He is the all merciful and the bestower. When it comes to magic even though God wills one his powers that he asks for even if it's from Demons. You have to acknowledge that the one the magician is asking for power from is from a demon and not god. Do note that the magician doesn wield the powers by himself. He is actually contractually summoning and using the help from a Jin or demon and unseen by normal sight it is seen as magic.

I'm a Muslim Arab and I will tell you that the occult(sihr) is VERY prevalent in our society. My momma would always talk about the eyn(the "evil eye"), sihr, & dream translation. There is also a practice of "translating" or fortune telling the remnants of Arabic coffee that remains in Arab style cups.
The difference is that source of power being evoked...i.e evoking the power of Allah or by the permission of Allah vs appealing to the evil jinn and/or Satan.
This was heavily informative and eye-opening video especially to someone who is a Muslim! I've grown up with very limited knowledge about this part of Islam as it's often looked down upon from the mainstream Muslim community as backward, illiterate and Shirk. Which actually ends up closing all conversations and topics around some of these practices. Some of these practices linked to Sufism are still found in South Asian regions as well. But I've never had the chance to know the background/history of how these practices originated. Honestly very excited and intrigued to watch more of your videos!

When I was very young my grandfather told me that there was some hidden science in Islam. When my grandfather died, his wife (who was his second wife, not my grandmother) gave me a manuscript written by the father of my grandfather written, in 1923, probably near Tlemcen (west of Algeria). I don't read arabic, thus I am not able to say what it contains (and I didn't share it with no one). This manuscript is full of strange tables which contains arabic letters, and some other geometrical drawing. When I listen to you, I wonder what kind of things interested him ! I cannot imagine that this was occultism ! My grandfather was close to Tariqas related to the work of Ibn Arabi (Seydina Mohiedin).
Why not create a high quality scan and share with experts/world? Also, perhaps you should donate it to a museum so it can be preserved for centuries by experts, rather than keeping it with yourself and letting it decay/forgotten.
You must go to the Sidi Boumediene mosque of Tlemcen and show it to the wise men there. Do not share with anyone else. If this document is left between the hands of the unpure heart, it will cause great harm to the corrupt heart and to the world.

Before any Muslim begets the impression that this is a blasphemous subject, please look into our Quran a little deeper to understand how occultism, alchemy, science, and magic were addressed in many different verses and was a tradition amongst some of the prophets, the leading example being King Solomon, who spoke the language of the birds, controlled the jinn, had the power to summon the wind, and understood the language of the ants. Moreover, if we want to learn the finest knowledge from the best of the Islamic scholars, we should look towards the forefathers of modern science who are from the Islamic golden age. These are the scholars within the Islamic world who set the standard with breakthrough discoveries and advancements, who are a powerhouse of knowledge, and wisdom. Peace and blessings unto all.
I am not arguing that it's blasphemy or not because I don't really care But what you just said simply isn't true . Solomon in islam wasn't just a king like in the old testament he was a prophet who done miracles not magic. That's the islamic view of solomon . Islam like the other abrahamic religions dont condone magic But yes there is an occult and magic books and rituals in islamic history like Shams al-Ma'arif or elawfaq But that doesn't mean it's accepted by islam or lets say mainstream islam .
@@valardohaeris2042 I don’t think you properly understood my comment. Solomon was both a prophet and a king and is referred to as both in the Quran. I chose to use the title king instead of prophet, but that isn’t relevant to the point that I was making, which was that there are a lot of misunderstood topics and subjects in modern and conventional Islam that are inherent within the religion. Take for instance the story of Moses and his staff, the Egyptian magicians tried to mimic Gods miracles with false magic. Their magic was of course dissolved by Allahs might that he showed through Moses. So in essence I am trying to point to how the world of the supernatural was a common thing amongst God and his prophets.

Wow This subject is rarely talked about.. Although I’m Arabic, I learned a lot from this and from your deep studies and lectures I loved this introduction. Thank you so much 🙏🏼 In my view, there are 2 reasons that black magic is prohibited in islam. The first reason is because people started using it to harm others. The other reason is because learning magic leads gradually to polytheism and eclipse us from our essence. It seems that Islam prohibits things only because they harm ourselves/others or eclipse us from our essence. This is just a reflection, I might be wrong. 🌷 Edit: Most Sufi muslims avoid magic because they know it can be a veil especially to the weak heart.
Actually, just to get started with black magic you first need to commit shirk against Allah and then can harm others. In other words you first shut the door to your creator, then to others around you.

And it was not to be used in Islam magic as it is found in these occult sciences. Just to ad something about Sabeans mentioned in the Qur'an. the Sabeans in the Qur'an are actually Mandaeans living in Southern Iraq Arabs called them Sabeans because of their ritual namely baptism in water (Arabic: Subba) the other people of Harran were definitely Hermeticists who proclaimed themselves as Sabeans and they were often called "Sabeans of the north" . they claimed that they followed the teachings of Hermes as their prophet what Muslims kind of recognized because he is motioned in the Qur'an as Prophet Idris ( probably biblical Enoch).
There are many different groups who have been identified with the Sabeans, primarily these two. At the end of the day, no one really knows for sure who the Qu'ran is referring to.
@@LetsTalkReligion True. But there is some kind of consensus about them so they are identified with primarily Mandaeans what makes sense because they follow as they claim the teachings of John the Baptist known in the Qur'an as Yahya who is seen in Islam as an important prophet. Talking about dream interpretation this is actually part of Islamic belief throughout the time and different branches of Islam from Sufis and other more esoteric groups to most exoteric like Wahhabis. this is because there is an authentic Hadith where prophet says: The Dream (but if its from God we need to somehow recognize it) is 45th part of prophethood , so every soul is connected to god ant there is certain kind of communication and sending messages. these are visionary dreams , other dreams are seen as something that reflects our daily life experiences or they can be demonic like nightmares and so called sleep paralysis known also as demonic attack. As someone who's been working on Jewish magical artefacts and Talmud for the past 5 years, it's fascinating to see how similar Islamic magic (occultic science) is to many of the things I've worked on, and how the rabbis were having very similar discussions - not about whether magic was permitted per se, but how it was permitted or forbidden. You could almost replace the "Islamic" wish "Jewish" in this video, they're so close, although with notable exceptions like geomancy, the 'solar rays' idea, the picatrix and alchemy which weren't really present in Jewish magic from around 6th century CE and before. Talismans, magic bowls, alphabetic traditions, healing recipes, invoking biblical quotations and God's names, and astrology are all echoed in earlier Jewish literature and material culture! Also similar is how the study has historically been quashed by the prejudices of scholars working on the texts, although Jewish magic has enjoyed a huge amount of progress in recent years.
@@kianchampion9581 I'm gonna assume that was a typo... but certainly the official texts, like the Talmud, struggle with the status of practices we'd consider to be "magical", especially when there are stories about rabbis doing surprising things! But you see them wrestling with prohibitions on these things, much like the Islamicate authors did... for example: ‘Rabbi Yehoshua ben Levi would recite [Psalm 91] to protect him from evil spirits during the night and fall asleep while saying it. The Gemara asks: How could he do that? Does not Rabbi Yehoshua himself say: “One is prohibited from healing himself with words of Torah”? The Gemara answers: To protect oneself is different, as he recited these verses only to protect himself from evil spirits, and not to heal himself.’ (BT Shev 15b). So whilst Judaism and Islam today might be against it, historically, the situation was more complicated!

As someone who converted to Islam over twenty years ago, I was always confused by the amount of magic being practiced by Muslims of every sect and denomination under the banner of Islam. This presentation has opened my eyes as to where Muslims are really getting their knowledge from, and how Muslims manage to get themselves involved in dubious matters that are clearly forbidden according to the clear and unequivocal teachings of Islam on such matters. What I have discovered during my twenty years of being a Muslim is that there is a “secret” book of powerful teachings that hardly any Muslim ever dares to study. It is more powerful than any book of magic ever written, and this may be one of the reasons why most Muslims do not dare to ponder its mysteries. This “secret” book is a compilation of inspired writings sent down by a Divine Entity who is more powerful than any of the spirit-beings that magicians usually invoke. I have asked many Muslims over the years if they have ever heard of this book, and if so, have they ever read it? Interestingly, all Muslims have heard of this book, and practically all Muslims, even the most uneducated of them, actually have a copy of this book on their bookshelves. When I ask them if they have ever studied this book in order to discover its secret teachings, they usually tell me that they are not authorised to study it, and that the job of understanding it can only be undertaken by the most educated of their priests, who are then authorised to explain these teachings to the common people, changing the teachings slightly along the way to better suit their purposes. As a Westerner who was raised to study books for the purpose of expanding my understanding of the world, I find this attitude amongst the Muslims of steadfastly _refusing_ to study certain books interesting. Surely if we were to study this “secret” book that contains so many mystical secrets, we would become enlightened and this would give us some kind of power over the people who have not read it, right? Is not the obtaining of power the whole thing that motivates Muslims to study magic in the first place? If so, then why not overcome your fears and study the “secret” book, if power over others is what you truly desire? In case anyone is wondering, the “secret” book I am referring to that generations of Muslims throughout the centuries have steadfastly refused to study (although they still recite it in their ceremonies), is known as the Holy Quran.
Haha I knew you were talking about the Quran the moment you mentioned it was sent down by a divine entity. I just recently converted to Islam in JAN 2022 I literally knew nothing about Islam I just read the Quran and was convinced it was from God. After reading it and taking to the internet to learn more about Islam I was so confused and surprised by the many teachings and rulings that were no where to be found in the Quran. I had wondered like do these scholars even read Quran?! I still find myself frustrated with the Muslim community but the Quran is just so perfect I could never deny Islam.
The reason using 'magic' (or more accurately 'sihir' or 'black magic') is often prohibited in Islam is because it is a form of _syirk_ / _syirik_ (the idolation or worshipping another creation other than the One God, Allah), which in many ways seeks to harm other people. Most of the times, this include seeking the help of _jinns_ to do your bidding. Common uses of black magic _sihir_ include to harm your targets (usually by making them fall ill in mysterious ways that doctors couldn't figure out the cause. Most people die a slow and tortuous death by this). Some did it to instill fear, awe or respect to themselves on others, some use it for superhuman strength and invincibility. Some use it to boost their business and sabotage other's, to make someone fall in love with them, and some use it to fool others into thinking that they're beautiful. Many ancestors used it as a protection for their lands, farms, assets and this particular type of _sihir_ (called _saka_ in my native language) are inherited through the generations. All these are dark occultism in Islam, and its practice is the gravest of all sins. There is however, a total opposite of this practice. There aren't many of them, but there are pious Muslims who are bestowed with gifts to heal and see the unseen by undergoing rigorous and very specific training to attain the 'sight', so to speak. This 'sight' is generally covered for most people's eyes called 'hijab' (means spiritual covering, not that shawl cloth lol). What they do is to undo the _sihir_ that's been cast upon the patients. The jinns are casted out, and in some cases, outright slaughtered. It's a tedious process, as it isn't easy to fully heal someone once they're afflicted by it. And a healer once told me, that once you've been afflicted by _sihir_, your body has 'holes' left by the previous I jinns that will make it easy for other jinns to enter you next time. These _jinns_ living inside you are like energy leeches, they suck off on your energy leaving you feeling weak and lethargic all the times. They also emit some kind of gas, which is why those with _jinns_ inside them tend to feel bloated, heavy, and gaseous stomachs. They will focus on ruining the weakest parts of your bodies (eg: if you tend to have headaches, then they'll focus on making it worse. If you tend to have emotional disturbance, then you bet they'll bring you down to feel even more depressed or show sudden bursts of destructive anger). Usual practice is to recite specific Quranic verses or protective prayers that seeks Allah's protection, and to practice certain things that will usually deter _jinns_ from disturbing you. They particularly can't stand ground black peppers, rock salt, limes (salt and peppers are commonly used for house cleansing, and limes are usually used by taking a bath with it - all these are done with specific Quranic recitation and some other practices). They're attracted to smoke, bones and foul-smelling things, so avoid having these in your houses. Not all _jinns_ are malevolent. Some are neutral, and some even have religious beliefs. Some _jinns_ are brought into submission by human shamans as their slaves. Some are old, strong, and not to be trifle with. Some are tricksters. They come in many shapes and are capable of many things, but humans are not supposed to fear them, for they fear us just as much as we fear the unknown. _Jinns_ have been around way before humans came into the picture. They outnumber us by 9 times (if I'm not mistaken), and their natural habitat is usually in the woods, hills, mountains, natural bodies of flowing waters etc (which is why sometimes people go hiking and they disappear without a trace - they usually have trespassed into their territory or misbehaved, and so are kept trapped there). It is our duty as humans to respect each other's boundaries and co-exist with those who do not disturb us. PS: you can try to seek them out, or in some way travel to their dimension (? I'm not sure what it's called in English). It's usually found in a state between consciousness and unconsciousness, where the lines between our two dimensions are the thinnest. You'd know you're there when there's a heaviness to your limbs, and a buzzing in your ears as if they're being stuffed with cotton. It's like you're being submerged underwater in a vibrating water? It will all be static, though, like that TV kind of static for the untrained fellow.
Sleep paralysis. Oftentimes people talk about seeing a sleep paralysis demon. Alxamdullilah as muslims we read a lot of adhkar and recite Quran in our homes so we dont see Jinns as much as those who don’t. But they dismiss them as mere hallucinations. .
Thus science is purposefully or inadvertently occulted throughout time. They laugh at astrology and alchemy but are in awe of astronomy and chemistry, especially if it pertains to weaponry or gain of capital. Of course their Gods wether Jewish, Christian or Muslim don't want us to partake... 🇺🇸🇩🇴🙏♈🐏🗡️⚖️
So true! The period of the Italian Renaissance in Florence is an example of that. During that period the writings of Hermes Trismegistus influenced the minds of Leonardo Da Vinci and others, until later it became what we call "science" today...The Renaissance was steeped in magic and alchemy. That's Black magic or any type of magic that has intent of harming others or includes worsipping other entity's beside Allah is haram e.g Black magic, So as long as it does'nt have this then yea your good to go, That's what i think
I'm Muslim Arab and I want to clarify an important thing, which is that Islam acknowledges the existence of Sihr magic and acknowledges that it is real, and that every Muslim must acknowledge that as well, but the practice of these practices is considered "blasphemous" and according to Islamic laws, whoever is found to have practiced these actions is punished, and it was said that he is punished with death - in some cases - for doing this. And there isn't any Sihr (Magic) Halal at all!. Allah (The God) mentioned some of these practices to us in the Qur’an in: ﴿فيتعلمون مِنْهُمَا مَا يفرقون بِهِ بَين الْمَرْء وزوجه﴾ "Yet people learned ˹magic˺ that caused a rift ˹even˺ between husband and wife" These actions are indeed real - but not everyone who claims to be able to do them necessarily means that he can -
I’m so ecstatic to see someone touch on this subject, I lived in Egypt for a few years and saw so much magic that I felt like I stepped into an alternative universe. Islamic magic is definitely the most potent magic I have ever seen, weird it’s not a much bigger subject.
Agreed. I see The Creator’s magic in the Islamic culture. Especially in its architecture/art and the invocations. I think it’s like how the western world sees everything as material and science based that we are not talking about it as much. But the most potential of understanding magic (or maybe it’s another word) is somewhere in the Quran based mystical practices that invoke the The Creator.
@bubbles bunny very much so, the locals told me that a green tablet was found in a tomb that contained teachings on magic, which spread throughout the country. Egyptian magic is very real and very much so still alive in Egypt.

Magic being forbidden in Islam is not controversial , *the Qur'an literally states that it's forbidden*
Assalamou 3alayka
It categorocly true that "sihr" is forbidden in islam as it lead to "chirk" (meaning worshiping another being or concepte that is not god ).

Although magic as a method to affect the world around us is the modern accepted definition, I think it's more accurate for lots of people to say magic is a method to affect the world within us. When you realize certain truths, the difference between the inside and outside becomes less important.

Peace and blessings unto all.

true but dont forget that all forms of magic and divination are forbidden in islam
I am not arguing that it's blasphemy or not because I don't really care
But what you just said simply isn't true . Solomon in islam wasn't just a king like in the old testament he was a prophet who done miracles not magic. That's the islamic view of solomon .
Islam like the other abrahamic religions dont condone magic But yes there is an occult and magic books and rituals in islamic history like
Shams al-Ma'arif or elawfaq
But that doesn't mean it's accepted by islam or lets say mainstream islam .

In my view, there are 2 reasons that black magic is prohibited in islam.
The first reason is because people started using it to harm others.
The other reason is because learning magic leads gradually to polytheism and eclipse us from our essence.
It seems that Islam prohibits things only because they harm ourselves/others or eclipse us from our essence.
This is just a reflection, I might be wrong. 🌷
Edit:
Most Sufi muslims avoid magic because they know it can be a veil especially to the weak heart.
i love Sufism interpretation of religion and those veil that cover us to God/Allah 🙏🙏🙏
Actually, just to get started with black magic you first need to commit shirk against Allah and then can harm others. In other words you first shut the door to your creator, then to others around you.

Not many people dare to touch these subjects especially when it comes to talking about Islamicate Occult Sciences as you put it beautifully. Indeed it still exists and unfortunately is practiced very commonly in every Islamic society. And those who do it do not even leave the quranic verses aside but use them to achieve their goal. When we read Quran the only message we find is that it was a message to be revealed to every human being through the prophet. And it was not to be used in Islam magic as it is found in these occult sciences. But Different sciences ( like the knowledge of stars, heavenly bodies, and science behind the letters ) when got mixed with religion we ended up losing the real gist of the religion and started using its verses to achieve very petty goals like how to create enmity between two people or create love between a couple or how to destroy some one's business, etc. Having said that, a religion whether Ibrahimic or non Ibrhaimic monotheist or polytheist all carry one thing in common and that is it deals with the secrets of life and the formation universe and of human beings that is how we are composed ( A body contains the soul and being) and how to use its potentials.

Both in jewdiesm and islam magic is forbidden and great sin
@@kianchampion9581 I'm gonna assume that was a typo... but certainly the official texts, like the Talmud, struggle with the status of practices we'd consider to be "magical", especially when there are stories about rabbis doing surprising things! But you see them wrestling with prohibitions on these things, much like the Islamicate authors did... for example:
‘Rabbi Yehoshua ben Levi would recite [Psalm 91] to protect him from evil spirits during the night and fall asleep while saying it.

Your pronunciation is really good
The reason using 'magic' (or more accurately 'sihir' or 'black magic') is often prohibited in Islam is because it is a form of _syirk_ / _syirik_ (the idolation or worshipping another creation other than the One God, Allah), which in many ways seeks to harm other people.
Islam is created by Lucifer to depart you from the true living God the creator Yahweh hamachiac king of Israel
This is the most in depth and most interesting post I have ever read regarding "Jinn". Thank you so much for this information.
@ايجون تارجاريين your nation will burn for worshiping Lucifer
are you referring to sleep paralysis in the end text?
Sleep paralysis. Oftentimes people talk about seeing a sleep paralysis demon. Alxamdullilah as muslims we read a lot of adhkar and recite Quran in our homes so we dont see Jinns as much as those who don’t.
But they dismiss them as mere hallucinations.
.
Magic inspires science; science is simply an organized method of characterizing magic with repeatable formula

So true! The period of the Italian Renaissance in Florence is an example of that. During that period the writings of Hermes Trismegistus influenced the minds of Leonardo Da Vinci and others, until later it became what we call "science" today...The Renaissance was steeped in magic and alchemy.
This video from Ancient Greece Revisited illustrates that well:

There's nothing controversial about Islam and magic. The Qur'an tells us that practicing magic takes us out of the fold of Islam.
That's Black magic or any type of magic that has intent of harming others or includes worsipping other entity's beside Allah is haram e.g Black magic, So as long as it does'nt have this then yea your good to go, That's what i think
Excellent work from a credible and learned scholar.
I send my thanks!!
This and Paul Williams Blogging Theology are my fav YT channels of 2021!
Top tier knowledge/information. Allah bless you.
Allah (The God) mentioned some of these practices to us in the Qur’an in: ﴿فيتعلمون مِنْهُمَا مَا يفرقون بِهِ بَين الْمَرْء وزوجه﴾
"Yet people learned ˹magic˺ that caused a rift ˹even˺ between husband and wife"
These actions are indeed real - but not everyone who claims to be able to do them necessarily means that he can -
I’m so ecstatic to see someone touch on this subject, I lived in Egypt for a few years and saw so much magic that I felt like I stepped into an alternative universe.
@bubbles bunny it's a soft not the owner of this channel himself feeds comments to increase activity on his channel.......... don't fall for this non sense
Thank you Filip. Youve outdone yourself again.
Editing is always great to look at but most importantly the information provided is very exciting for a history geek like myself.
