Love the interview with Dr. Saif. Her knowledge on this subject is unmatched! For anyone wanting more from her, she has another great interview with Dr. Puca on Angela's Symposium.
Excellent video Filip! Nice to hear from Liana in the flesh, and that her project is coming to a close after all these years. Just one extremely minor correction: it's Aby Warburg, not Andy!
I've heard and having read it agreed that this book (specifically the Picatrix) was likely the inspiration for the Necronomicon... The history Lovecraft created is very reminiscent, at least.
Thank you for the video! I stumbled upon the book in Amsterdam (in the ‘hermetics‘ musuem) a few days back, the content was indeed fascinating - talismans plants trees and all. Was interesting to see detailed descriptions and preparations on how to „call upon“ the different signs/planets/bodies spirits/forces, while maintaining (in the conclusion) that Quran/Allah is still the sole source of all power.
On the contrary, in Islamic culture, these are books to protect and protect people from harm from the jinn, and to know the world of the jinn. Among the most important books translated in this regard are: Ibn Taymiyah's Essay on the Jinn (Demons) by Ibn Taymiyah World of Tthe Jinn and Devils by Umar Al-Ashqar The Jinn and Human Sickness: Remedies in the Light of the Qur'an and Sunnah by Abu'l Mundhir Khalee

Hi Filip. Thank you for yet another wonderful video production filled with scholarly information. If you don’t mind, where is the artwork at 15:39 from? Thank you again.
Ummayad-Andalusia is my favourite time-space in history. I really wish Arabs put as much effort into paintings/sculptures as they did into literature/music.
I want to know how astrology plays a role in magic? I know so much about astrology and I even know how to read birth charts, I’m wondering how the two align. That’s scary I don’t want anything to do with it anymore lol - even though no one really knows how the planets know so much about you just from the date and time you was born! Its Fascinating!
Do you think the Picatrix, Shams Al-Maarif (and maybe The Lesser Key of Solomon) probably share the same theories and remedies in performing magic rituals? Do you think a syncretism of methodologies of performing the dark arts from all the 3 above-mentioned books actually exists?
I just finished reading book 1. Wordy, jargon heavy, and technical, but insightful. I made organized notes and if anyone wants to save time from reading the whole book, feel free to toss me response!

It was in the autumn leaves at the curd of the road. Can someone go play by play on how all of this works? Thank you 🙏

There are several translations of the Latin Picatrix, including the one by Dan Attrell and David Porreca which I have listed in the sources in the description. But there is also a new translation of the Arabic Ghaya by Dr. Saif coming soon.
Don't study Tantra magic. It follows the rule of inverse Pascal's Wager. Either it is just chemistry tricks and mentalism mixed with statistical guesses (stuff that you can learn better from other books), or it is a power beyond our control and should not be messed with.

Magic is hidden truth. Governments are magical. Fools call a stick a wand. If you pick a tricks, you know the shtick. Those who accomplished the work of their shadow, use it to mask the truth from others for clout, and stirring the pot makes a cloud. Weather or not you will be under their reign.
UNFORTUNATELY, this book seems to be totally restricted to Rajasic and Tamasic aspects. Satwic goal is totally ignored. No wonder that Venus is the ruler of the Middle East.
Truth is neither of the three, hence described as "Trigunatita". That differentiation between the three gunas is what created the caste system in Hinduism. Truth is truth. Half-truth isn't better than ignorance, it is often worse, because it creates an illusion of superiority.
I'm actually scared to watch this episode. the last time watched an episode about the other book of magic ( I don't want to even mention the name) weird and bad things happened to me lol and Im normally not that superstitious 🤐
What I always wonder is why non-Spaniards keep insisting on conflating Al-Andalus with Andalusia. They are definitely not the same. Andalusia is a Christian construct based on the memory of the former Moorish Al-Andalus. Today, it's the official name of a region and political administration, but it doesn’t exactly align with the historical Al-Andalus. Please stop using "Andalusia" in that way-it’s a bit of a legacy from the romanticized ideas of 19th-century British travelers. These travelers were enchanted by tales reminiscent of The Arabian Nights, drunk on exoticism and Orientalist fantasies. By then, however, Andalusia was no longer a land of Al-Andalus but a fully Christianized region, deeply rooted in Mediterranean Catholic culture. The remnants of Al-Andalus were already long gone, reduced to little more than pseudohistorical memory.
