- This is a comprehensive video to guide you how to replace you gear shifter including centre console removal for you mercedes benz w203, w209 and w211 but it is done on a CLK320.
thank you so much for this video. helped me immediately diagnose the problem and get it fixed quickly!
i have a 2004 e320, and for those who are curious about the part numbers matching, i bought part number 2112674824 [used] to replace the original part number 2112672224. it fit perfectly and there was no need to program my new [used] replacement at the stealership. the “p” and “s” settings reappeared on the dash, and the check engine light immediately turned off. i cleared the p0705 fault code and did the 5-second/2-minute transmission reset to ensure the shifting i prefer.
best of all, i didn’t have any screws left over when i put the console back together! i DO recommend unbolting the entire console [including the two bolts inside the bin]. it just makes it WAY easier to pull out that plastic bracket in front of the ashtray when the console is loose.
thank you again for this video. good luck to anyone who plans to do this repair. just take your time and keep up with which screws go where.
Great to see this worked for you as well. Enjoy your Mercedes.
Great video thank you
Thanks mate for liking & subscribing 😉
So this fixed the limp mode ? What kind of scanner are you using to clear the codes ? Thanks

Hi, great video. I got the code P0750 Transmission Range Sensor A Circuit ( PRNDL Input), do you think it is the shifter causing this or just a connection?
Hello, please watch this: ruclips.net/video/3PgmDjK45_k/видео.html
How did you open the whole thing? I hear some rattling sound within inside my gear lever position and I'm thinking of opening to check
Didn't I mention in the video?
If you were to swap out ecu, ignition switch, key and floor shifter...dont you have to program the conductor plate to match what you install into the s430
TBH I don't think that is required but I might be wrong.
Hi any help would be much appreciated..
Long story short my elderly widowed neighbour has a Mercedes 2006 E220 diesel. It totally refuses to go back above neutral. No reverse or park an can not remove the key, (also don’t know if it’s related but fault EBS and ABS on dash. Drives forward smoothly without issue.
Local garage is looking £1300 to replace the gearbox but I’m convinced it can be fixed cheaper. I have decent to good mechanical knowledge but merc are not my strong point.
Many thanks
Have you watched my other video? I think a decent diagnosis scanner can help: ruclips.net/video/3PgmDjK45_k/видео.html
My benz sometimes has trouble going up into reverse and park from drive. I have to play with it, wiggling the handle up in down until it finally goes into park. Do you think its this part that needs to be replaced?
Hi mate, just have a look at my other video, fault code P0705... I think it will be more assuring... ruclips.net/video/3PgmDjK45_k/видео.html
@@BenzAddiction I have no fault code tho
dude same especially when putting it in park😂i don’t know why it does this but still works🤷🏽♂️
@@camlag4598 excellent 👌
Well done . Did you get a used shifter from a wrecker or a new one ?
Hi Leonardo, this was a used shifter.
@@BenzAddiction OK thanks , it still working ok ?
@Leonardo still working perfectly;)
@@Leonardo555ZZZ what year is your car mate? I just put a used shifter in my 2002 c220cdi as was led to believe it would not need reprograming, wrong, only able to put used ones in cars 2000 or older it workex for a day then all sorts of issues not changing out of 1st gear saying R on dash whilst driving, not moving past N and others, my magic auto elec had to take all the "brains" out of my old shifter and put them in the new one it is now ok, so cars 2000 or newer need a "virgin" shifter and they arent cheap! So unless u do the same as my mechanic did you cant use a second hand one unless you have older than 2000 car hope you get sorted👍👍
@@shaunmcclory8117 OK thanks..
I have problem when putting on the seaclip to the rod, it doenst stay on it
Hello, just check to see if a peice of gear shifter leather is stuck on there or the leather is extra thick...and make sure the shifter handle is all the way in...
Hi mate, is gear shifter same for Mercedes kompressor 2003 180 w203 and for Mercedes kompressor 240 2003 .
Do you know EO number for part this asked me FCP EURO
Thanks mate👍
Hi mate, I think transmissions are the same as well as the gear shifter, but the part numbers may not. The best option is to pull the old one out and find the exact part number.
Thanks mate, I pull out part, but Amazon, Alibaba, eBay, FCP EURO don’t have C 180 Mercedesa , all start with C230, because I asked you.
@@zlatkohrkac4146 last resort would be mercedes dealership. Just provide them your VIN number.
Hi, do you need to do coding after installing the new gear shifter?
No coding is required if you use the same part number.
@@BenzAddiction thanks!
👍
How exactly did you pull it out cause I’m not trinna go under the vehicle if I have to I will but nahh
So you mean you can not remove e the C clip from top?
Yea I have a w219 model tho I gotta try to take the center console out or slide it back a little to pull out the gear selector module, its a tight ass spot you have the best video tho 💯
@bankrollm3n4c39 it seems like many parts to take but literally the job should not take more than 2 hours. Good luck.
@@BenzAddictionthanks💯 I shol gave up yesterday cause I couldn’t slide the center console but yea it does easy af tho can’t lie
@@bankrollm3n4c39 glad you did it 😉
Does it needs coding or is just plug and play?
Was Plug and play for me...
Depends on age of car i found the hard way that a 2002 w203 wont accept a used shifter, only cars 2000 or older, newer than 2000 require a "virgin" shifter, unless you are able to swap all the electronic bits from your old shifter with the inside parts of a used unit which thankfully worked for me after being told by three sources a used shifter would not neex to be reprogrammed
Hi mate, I need to buy gear shifter for Mercedes kompressor 2003 180 w203 . Where I can buy, I tried in Amazon, but can’t find . Maybe I wrong write name fir that part,
Can you help me, please
Hi mate, try FCP Euro. The last time I checked few month ago they had it brand new for AUD 630.
Thank you mate👍
Hi Benz Addiction
Which country are you located in?
I had mine repaired for $375.00AUD.
@@MrTherbst thanks mate, I fixed my shifter. I find what is wrong
What website can I order this from
Check FCP Euro:

Hi, I have a question that I’m searching answer for but found nothing yet. I know that you’re very familiar with Mercedes because my question is about 2006 mb c 280. Here is my question for you. Where is the location of “Engine Oil Pressure Sensor Switch A0071534328 Fuel Injection Pressure Sensor for Mercedes-Benz C-280.”? Thank you in advance
Look carefully here: charm.li/Mercedes%20Benz/2006/C%20230%20%28203.052%29%20V6-2.5L%20%28272.920%29/Repair%20and%20Diagnosis/
Why did u replace?
Because it was faulty, causing the transmission to go to limp mode.
So mine I have to hold the shifter into drive or it won't go and as soon as I let it go it goes into natural you think if I replace the assembly it will fix the problem??
@custombuilds4573 watch my other video on how to diagnose the transmission and the fault codes. There is the possibility of having a bad bushing for the shifter too, you can check this from under the car too...
You cannot swap this with a used one, it will not start the vehicle. This piece has to be coded to the vehicle
Hi Corey, after I replaced this with a used gear shifter and erased the fault code, the car ran perfectly and still runs perfectly. I did not have MB star C3 or C4.
@@BenzAddiction huh. Doesn't work in w215. I found out the hard way
It will work if the replacement part has the same part number of the old part.
@@mohamedsowwan4879 Yes, it did work perfectly for me.
@@mohamedsowwan4879 not for me on a 2002 w203 worked for a day then all sorts of issues, exact same part number ended up having to take the "brains" from old shifter to put in the used one, cars 2000 or newer need a "virgin" shifter
