- Shinji Uses the Only Bankai Banned in the Soul Society #Shorts #Bleach #Bankai Have you ever seen a character so strong they’re BANNED from using their ability in their homeworld? Well in Bleach that’s the case for Gotei 13 Captain Shinji Hirako, who was actually banned from using his Bankai within the Soul Society because of just how dangerous it is. Shinji showed up in the series earlier as part of the Vizard squad who all had hollow masks and trained Ichigo more or less on how to use his. Now eventually we learn they all have a history with the soul society and are actually extremely powerful, and from the beginning Shinji’s ability has been really annoying to deal with as he shifts his opponent’s perspective of up and down completely disorientating them. When Shinji uses his Bankai though, and here’s the reason he can’t EVER use it around any of his friends, his sword activates an automatic ability that creates a giant range of effect where everyone inside perceives their enemies as their allies, and their allies as their enemies. If Shinji were to use this at a Gotei 13 meeting, we’d see all of the captains fighting eachother to the DEATH completely destroying their system, but i’m glad that in the anime they added a scene in Thousand Year Bloodwar where he uses it, because it’s awesome.

He's not the only one. In the light novels there was a Kenpachi who was completely banned from using his Bankai because he Bankai can quite literally eat the entire Soul Society
Yeah that's the 7th Kenpachi Kuruyashiki.
But the 8th Kenpachi Sōya Azashiro has a Inzane ban-kai too.
He was imprisoned in the "Central Great Underground Prison"
His ban-kai can fuse with anything in his surroundings and it's always active. He's always in his ban-kai state even in his sleep.

Sinji's is illusionary/sensory, so people are not going to feel the pressure and if they feel it then that person will be immediately under the effect.
Kurayashiki the 7th Kenpachi, who was invited to join the Royal Guard, but he said no as he wouldn't get to fight as much. He is one of the ones who has a bankai that is banned. His bankai is described in the Spirits are Forever with You light novel.
Shinji’s Bankai isn’t banned because it’s “too strong” it’s banned because it’s indiscriminate. It doesn’t differentiate friend from foe and affects everyone in its range. Now Kenpachi Kuriyashiki, his Bankai is banned for being too strong.
Isn't his the same tho? It doesn't matter if your ally or foe with his bankai.
I guess to put it in perspective, it has a niche and does that extremely well, borderline OP.
Against a large group of individuals who are all adversaries, it’s probably the best ability you can use. And the amount of effort to utilize it is pretty much zero. Compared to like Rukia or her brother bankais that are powerful, but require a level of effort and skill to reach similar levels of his bankai in this scenario.
Now imagine him using it in a 1v1 or against a strong opponent like Aizen or Yhwach. Him using it against them in its worst case is useless, and best case is just leveling the playing field. It’s doesn’t exactly give him any advantage in this scenario. Last I checked, your allies don’t just let you attack them for free.
It’s an ability that thrives in chaos and confusion, so more people just continuously double its effectiveness. To a level where we see in the manga.
Kyoraku's bankai is probably banned too, for the same reason, it's an indiscriminate AOE that would kill any ally caught into it.
Kuriyashiki's Bankai is better than Shinji's but is banned for a similar reason.

The irony of his bankai really fits it’s abilities in a way. Most shinigami use their shikai to fight fodder and bankai to fight heavy hitters, but Shinji’s is the opposite. His bankai is great against fodder and his shikai works best against individuals.
It also makes sense why he didn’t use it against Aizen. Not only would it hurt his allies but it just wouldn’t work on aizen who never really saw his allies as such in the first place.
But wouldn't he then see his enemies as his friends which would allow for a possibility of backstabbing him?

Didnt Aizen figure out how to deal with it when they fought, and isnt aizens bonkai basically the same thing, but on roids? It's been a while, but aizens bonkai totally takes control of all 6 senses of anyone who witness it if I'm not mistaken.
Shinji's bankai was the most cinematic sequence I've ever come across in Bleach. It was just pure epicness.

funny thing about his bankai- when he first appears to ichigo he does so as an enemy. but overtime he is converted to an ally and at the same time ichigo perceives previous allies as un trustable.

He isn't the only one nor is he the first. The 7th Kenpachi Kuruyashiki had his Bankai banned because it was big enough to erase the entire Soul Society in one strike and not leave behind a single atom. He was only allowed to use it like every 6 months or so and it had to be away from the Seireitei/Soul Society. He is the only person to have it banned, Shinji's is not banned but restricted because of how it works. This is similar to Yamamoto's Bankai because if he released his Bankai, the flames would also erase the entire Soul Society/Seireitei if he just didn't bother to control it or just let it burn the entire area. You would actually die from the 15+ million degree heat wave before the fire even touches you. The Quincies are only lucky that they have Blut Vene because they would die just from him walking past them. There's also Kyouraku's Bankai that's also restricted because he can't use it next to comrades. They'd die or suffer heavily just for being next to him with his different stages/plays. Only Kenpachi Kuruyashiki has his bankai banned and that's because its literally stronger than Yamamoto's Bankai by erasing everything like a reality warp. "Opens pairs of jaws or a large mouth that appears on the ground below the enemy and eats everything. Anything eaten by this bankai will cease to exist completely". I don't even think you would get sent to Hell after getting hit by it, you just don't exist AT ALL anymore.

There are eight bankai that are prohibited in the soul society. Three of which are bankai belonging to the kenpachis, most notable is the seventh as his was a living bankai large enough to eat the soul society. (I got the wrong Kenpachi, I fixed it.)

It's important to keep in mind that Shinji's Shikai improved a lot in TYBW. Against Aizen, it couldn't invert senses, but now it can now invert sound, which is INCREDIBLY crucial because we use our ears to tell how we're rotated and where we are. I'm assuming other things also changed, but that's the most notable one.

Yeah, but wasn't the whole thing with Aizen was he using Kyōka Suigetsu the whole time, which is how nullified Shinji' shikai. Remember bc Ichigo was the only person there who saw that Aizen wasn't actually there.
In any case, Aizen is still OP af and one of my favorite villains.

You forgot Shunsui's bankai was heavily advised by old man Yama not to use it in the anime because everyone in Shunsui's Bankai is VERY indiscriminate
He literally thanked the Quincy for killing his comrades. Not like “Oh thanks for killing my squad” more like “You killed them all which sucks but thanks to that you made it so I can use my ability now.”
Captain Yamamoto also had a Bankai that... while not actually banned, yamamoto disallowed himself from using it in any situation where the Gotei 13 wasn't actually wrecked.
Mostly because he actually dries out the whole world over time and would eventually leave the whole dry. Basically, just using it devastates the Soul Society and if he is fighting for too long, he is left as the last living person in a dead world.
Theoretically he could use his bankai to find a traitor/enemy. If he used his ability on a room full of allies then that means everyone would then fight each other meaning that they truly do see each other as allies, but if you did this to a traitor then they should actively try to defend everyone instead of attacking them meaning that they are in fact a traitor/enemy.

It's not about his power, and more what his bankai is all about. Ichigo could body Shinji, but Ichigo's bankai translates to "speedy boy with power", Shinji could start a coup.

Honestly, gamers that have played with inverted controls know how frustrating his ability is because he inverts everything. So if you try and move left, you'll go right. If you try and go up he'll go down. You literally have to try and go down to go up and try to go up to go down and his bunk guy literally is broken as s***
Also important is that your sense of sound is inverted, and, since you use your ears to tell your rotation and stuff, you'd also lose all sense of position, rotation, stability, etc.
I'd be a captain like "ya I know it's banned but, I still have it on me. Oh look, it's time for the captain's meeting."

Little forgotten thing which is bankai increases your overall power by 10x if not mistaken, so leaving ability alone bankai is just a powerboost.
I wonder why cpts cant go in bankai state wihout using bankai abilities, kinda like in shikai, they can release a sword and use ability on demand. Remember, releasing shikai also increases your power, like hisagi with findor...
I think it's relative. 10x boost isn't necessarily a strength/speed boost, except in cases like Ichigo's Bankai(which is more like taking that ocean of spiritual pressure and forcing it through a fire hose). Instead, the abilities the Bankai provides is equivalent to 10x the potential of the Shinigami using their Shikai. It's why some captains don't seem that much physically stronger when using their Bankai(ex. Mayuri's Bankai)

Although This Certain Character has shown up in anime The Anime Never got a Season 2 And The Power wasn't Showcased as her Role in Season 1 was a Tutor, commentator of sorts.

She's Got Enough Gravity Manipulation Capacity Where she once Tried to Pull Down A Meteor at The Size of Jeju Island And would cause Mass destruction In the process of not Global Destruction, but was But Was Thwarted By her opponent a Time Manipulator and Was Permanently Banned From Dragging Down Meteors,
Later she Minimised it By Bringing down Small Meteors and Throwing them like a Ball that she can more or less Latch onto and Travel a shit ton of distance in Minutes, and apparently throws the small meteor back to space

Sorry it's a good short but Shinji's Bankai is not really banned. There is only one Bankai in the history of the Gotei 13 that was explicitly said to be banned. And it was the 7th Kenpachi's Bankai, because when used it would indiscriminately "eat" everything and everyone one (except 7th Kenpachi) around him
it isnt banned because he is "too strong" its banned because it can directly harm his allies, and affects it will have on them. banning someone bankai for being too strong has be done though, to a older kenpachi in the light novels. He was also invited to squad 0 if im not mistaken.

Shinji's bankai is not the strongest among his peers, but rather it is dangerous not only to his enemies, but also his allies.
also, it wouldnt affect captains with higher spiritual pressure than himself. that's how their powers all work. ((including aizen, which is why they made his base power so brokenly high))
Hes most definitely not the only one i can think of 2 more at MINIMUM the 8th and 9th kenpachis. One was a indiscriminate attack on everyone except the holder and the other was just TOO op cuz it allowed him to fuse with ANYTHING including other soul or their zanpaktou which allowed him to use their abilities.

I think fun Bleach topic is to point out that perhaps Shinji's Bankai is not fully developped similarly to Renji. This fan theory also applies to Soifon that her Nuclear Missile is just unpolished Bankai as she herfels states that she hates her Bankai and fully mastered her shikai. What I'm pointing out is that Shinji is banned from using his Bankai because it would cause casulties so he would not have many chances to train it. By training he might be able to control it in a way that allies would not be effected. But who knows, perhaps it can't be turned off and I'm just having fun daydreaming. But think if Shinji learned to control his Bankai, he would become unstoppable monster.

kuruyashiki , yamamoto , shunsui ,they are all banned , its not because they have strong bankais but more so because their bankai has a huge attack radius and they cant choose who they project the abilities on , so everyone in their attack radius friend or foe is affected by its ability leading to death of fellow court gaurd members
Sorry to disappoint you but it's totally crazy, no his bankai is not banned, whether in CFYOW or any other official works in the Bleach universe, never and I mean it was never said that it was banned, Shinji chose to never use it for reasons similar to our dear captain Kyoraku, those of not being able to spare the allies of his power The only one having had his Bankai banned and who also died because he could not resign himself to disobeying on principle but also because he did not want to kill anyone, it was none other than the 7th Kenpachi, Kuruyashiki Kenpachi who was so strong that he could literally everything in his path, allies and enemies (except the user), but who if he used it found himself unable to use the powers of his Zanpakuto for 6 months (a hell of a setback, even if very understandable because his Bankai was clearly far too strong ahah)
So during the Captain’s test, they had to perform their Bankai to an audience… I wonder how Shinji’s test went 😂
He was happy that he got to use his ability because all of his allies where eliminated.

@@kevinGonzalez-GOD777 the movies arent cannon, but for the new episodes you have to watch “bleach: thousand year blood war” and then just watch it in order. For the filler episodes you can find online which episodes to skip and which not to skip

His Bankai is somewhat similar to Shunshi Bankai, in how they don't discriminate between allies & enemies and just affect everyone in its radius. That's why he doesn't use it as much...

Man. I know Aizen's shikai is hell to deal with, but that right there would be many times worse. Just sneak into the big bad guy meeting, activate bankai, whip out the popcorn and watch the chaos.
I saw a comment on a vid talking about a (possibly non-canon) bankai that one of the lieutenants had that was OP like this. A commenter swore up and down that someone with more reiatsu can and always will overpower bankai from people with lower reiatsu. This implies that that isn't the case at all and I always thought so.
