You know what I love about this channel more than most trucking vlogs? It's the experiences that you encounter especially when you struggle over problems on the road, on the dock area, inside the cab, and in dealing with different kinds of people. It's seldom to find vloggers who talk less about themselves and more about the job they do.

46:14 I picked up a load from Caterpillar once. And they placed 14 pallets all in a line from front to back in the middle. I was driving along and before you know it, you can see through the mirrors that the trailer was leaning a lot more to one side. On one mirror you can see the trailer and on the other you can’t. So I stopped at a truck stop and opened one door. All the pallets were to one side! So I had to go to a utility rental place to rent a pallet Jack and moved 6 pallets to the other side. Those suckers were heavy!!!!

If it makes you feel better Alex, the other day I had to deliver insulation to a warehouse that was still being built. Full construction site, not even paved yet. The catch? A worker had to escort me up the forklift ramp through the narrow forklift door inside the building. Yup, full 53ft/sleeper offloaded inside a warehouse. Why they didn't use the docks? Who knows. Getting out was even worse having to drive around the building supports and they had materials laid out everywhere so I didn't have a clear enough way to get out straight, so had to turn out the narrow forklift door from an angle. Literally had about 2 centimeters or less between the truck/trailer and wall. So tight I couldn't even see inside if I needed to back up. 😵‍💫 guess they're really trying to save money now days by sending full sized trucks to anywhere they can instead of point to point.

Fun fuct Alex.. You can keep the trailer brakes from engaging... Saves a few seconds or so.. (Plus it says it on the knob... Red ain't for parking) But some trailers (unless you have the same one always) can take ages to then engage their trailer brake (which of course is not in compliance for safety). Just hold down the trailer brake release with a finger... Welcome to delivering to odd places of which I did and still do. Construction sites suck regardless but you handled it well! Keep on truckin and keep the rubber side down! Also, if you gotta run down a poor traffic cone to make your backing/turn eff it! They can bounce back and whatnot. A cone is better then hitting a building or whatever xD

The rest of the CHP, well, trucks are a bother to them. Cuz if they make a stop a truck and write the citation incorrectly, the commercial enforcement guys need to clean it up. If you do something stupid, the regular CHP will stop you. And I cruised at 62 all through southern and central california.....never a problem. Peddle to the metal! And nice...only 1 expletive you had to bleep! Job well done!

I always hated delivering to hospitals some of them are unload there and then you have the ones that are a storage facility that is all the way across the town or even city while they give you the adress of the hospital

I think this channel is turning into more of a meme channel... how long can I keep the blinker on for; how much can I complain about one issue; I don't know what I'm doing... and on and on and on. I guess if that's the goal, then good.

I've thought of applying but I heard that 50-60% of loads are driver load/unload. Is this true?

I've been watching you for Awhile now alex. Sometimes you're forced to do things you don't want to do. That's including half of the dude nineties down certain intersections just to get into a dock. I've done it no fun.

You guys should have a small vehicle like a bike or a soap box car to inspect the entire place to find a good spot for you to turn & park. It is really frustrating to see you getting frustrated

During your first 6 months solo you will learn more about the job, trucking than you will learn from your trainer, school.
Some places it is wise to call ahead to find out where you need to go in order to deliver. If you are delivering to a place that is not a warehouse don't always expect them to have a dock. If you look at google maps and don't see a dock I'd say call the customer to see where they want it. Your company's Customer Service rep should have called to get delivery directions before or while you were in route so they could relay them to you.

Clearly driving trucks is not as glamorous as they make it look in the movies. Yes, California is trying to destroy the trucking industry. It isn't written down anywhere, but based on actions that seems to be the intent.
