This is the sauvage for those who don’t like sauvage. Love the licorice in this and the retro masculine vibe. Sad to see demachy go but glad he left us with another solid release before leaving Dior

The one by Dior that I think can go toe to toe with Sauvage Elixir is Eau Sauvage Parfum (the one I prefer). Demachy is an underrated, not perfect/yet nearly flawless genius. Great review 👍👍

    • @xoPRECISEox
      @xoPRECISEox 7 месяцев назад +1

Who is underating Demachy? He was the top perfumer for a whole decade straight. If anything, he's overrated. I can't speak for his women's perfumes, but his men's releases are harsh and bitter smelling. Some people like that because French perfumer's are known for making smooth and airy fragrances, while Demachy was making bombastic borderline niche/Arabian style fragrances. So people who are into niche fragrances will enjoy his crazy aggressive style. I think MFK will be better because his fragrances are more sweet and casual. Demachy fragrances are too serious tbh, there is zero fun or casual with that guy.

Thank you Marc! I'm glad you mentioned the price aspect of it! But great scent anyway. So far, my closest brush with Sauvage Elixir is the hyped clone, ASAD by Lattafa (of course it's no where near the quality of the original, but gives one an idea of what to expect). And even the clone had to grow on me before I came to like it. I believe Sauvage Elixir may be (just may be) a polarizing scent. I've been waiting for this from the Guru honestly. So thanks for the video, Marc. 😊

Full disclaimer: I never hated Sauvage EDT, I found it maybe a bit simplistic for all the hype but to this day EDT is still my favorite gym scent (and in general for young guys, i.e. not for you and me). The Elixir here is a reasonably complex fragrance (far from EDT) and a huge departure from the original DNA. To me it's missing woods in the base (I have Oud for Greatness that I use instead which has that), but agree licorice and spices are really what sets this one apart.

The throwback style of Sauvage Elixir is my reason for liking it. Most of the fragrances in my collection are old school and lavender based like Platinum Egoiste or Drakkar Noir to name a few and this fits in with those. I still get a little of the OG Sauvage in it through the deep dry down tho. Knowing how you feel about the OG, I was expecting some proper bashing but I guess the lavender and darkness combo helped it out. I wore it a lot when it first came out but then it got on the hype train and I smelled it around way too much so I don't wear it much now. Still a great throwback tho.

    • @robes08

A solid release. Do I reach for it often? Nope. lol Do I reach for anything often? Maybe a select few. lol That's the problem when your collection gets big enough to warrant its own room. You tend to over look really beautiful fragrances. Ive adopted rather unusual ways of rotating through my stash but I will openly admit, Ive become more of a niche snob and the designer end of my collection takes on some dust sometimes. I think my boys grab sprays from this one more than me and they have even grown to enjoy this over the EDT, EDP or Parfum. Merry Christmas brother.

I’ve just come across your channel. Really enjoying it!
I adore the Elixir Savauge. It will be a classic soon, even if it has elements of fragrances from the past. It’s a great creation.
I hated on the EDT for years then finally came around to it recently. I managed to grab a bottle for less than £50. It’s a great frag.
Now it’s a few years old, it’s becoming a bit of a timeless classic. It doesn’t need to be a niche fragrance to be ‘good’ or a technical masterpiece.
The EDT is a great fragrance, and that’s a fact, even if you don’t like it. There are loads of fragrances I am not a fan of but millions of others are. That doesn’t make it a bad fragrance. It’s all about taste.
A fragrance reviewer once coined it ‘the Swiss Army knife of fragrances’, and I agree.
Any day, any time, any season, anywhere. You can always rely on Savauge EDT.
Bear in mind I used to hate on this fragrance and refused to even entertain the idea of owning it.
    Great review!
I am hoping you will do a review of Armani Code Parfum soon.

As far as I know, it's only the Elixir that stepped outside of the lines of the sauvages
I got Sauvage EdP as one of my first fragrances a year or two back, and it smelled great on the test-strip at the mall, but I made the mistake of not trying it properly, and so when I came home, it just smelled almost metallic and sweaty. Like some oily dude who hadn't showered for a week, and so I hate it.
I mean you should probably still try the sauvages, but primarily because it would be funny to watch - I don't think you'll be surprised if you go into it expecting a more concentrated version of the EdT.

Love Elixir, the best from the line and I really don't like the others. Got a 60 ml bottle and I'm happy. For me it's a spicy-balsamic-coniferous scent. The coniferous part pops-up really hard to me. The best name for it would have been Drakkar Noir Elixir 😅. This, Fahrenheit EDT and Eau Sauvage Parfum (2017) is my Dior Holy Trinity. "There shouldn't even be a Sauvage on the name." This is why you NEED to try the Parfum, Marc. I believe that is the bridge fragrance that sort of connects the earlier Sauvage frags (namely the EDP) and the Elixir together. I know I had mentioned before that the later Sauvage and Bleu de Chanel fragrances would most likely be up your alley as opposed to the earlier ones. Seeing your reaction here to Elixir, I am more confident of that now. I think that now that you have tried the Elixir, this will probably be the new favorite for you in the Sauvage line, but still explore the Parfum, too. I think you will find a nice dance between Sauvage Parfum and Sauvage Elixir. Sauvage EDP is...eh, it's okay. It's still got ties to the EDT, so it still has its screechy parts, but not AS bad, I'd say. Still, I'd choose the Parfum or Elixir as my chosen Sauvage frags any day...and really JUST the Elixir if I had to be brutally conservative. Awesome video, as always.

When I sampled this fragrance, my first reaction was, hooray, it doesn't have that sickening smell that the EDT has. After about 15 to 20 minutes there it is. On my skin, it isn't nearly as bad as on the EDT, but it is there enough that it ruined the fragrance for me.

Blue scent profiles make me go noseblind damn near instantaneously in many cases (BDC and Y were gone before I got the sample back in the card). Sauvage EDP lasted about 3 minutes on me. I thought this might be different because everyone talked about how much they changed it. In a way, I suppose it was "better" in that regard as I got a whopping 6-7 minutes out of it before it was undetectable. I'm not a nose, chemist, or any type of pro, but linking the common denominator between the blues had led me to believe that an overdose of Ambrox in combination with certain other materials was the most likely culprit. Now I'm unsure what to think. Is there really no Ambrox in this, or are you just saying it doesn't seem as dominant to you as it is in the others?

This one isn't for me. I love my crowd pleasers but this whole line comes off smelling scratchy and irritates my throat. Maybe it's because in always sniffing it up close lol

I agree . EDT was so metallic and « marketing » success, that when I smelled elixir flanker I was « hmmm je comprends » 🤔… but the price for a so « industrial » and sale volume fragrance . F…. OFF 🤦‍♂️ and they increased again by 25% ( shopper’s drugmart) the margin on this kind of frag should be phenomenal and mass think they have a « produit de luxe » …. This is a stock holder gift for B. Arnault. Nice product but sold at indecent price . It’s « ok » price for mass when they have 3 products.
Other flankers are MEHH Marc . Moins métalliques but « insignifiants ».

the Parfum is so different from Elixir, nothing even suggests they are the same line. Sweet citrus all the way.

I don’t love this line. I get why it’s so incredibly popular and I can appreciate it for what it is but I do not love that blue shower gel profile. This one is nice enough and dragging that Drakkar Noir facet into the shower gel is cool.

Opinions are like assholes. We all have one and they all stink. Unlike Sauvage EDT. Thats Demachy’s 9th Symphonyz. That’s my opinion. Like I said we all have opinions. 😝

This is too spicy for me. It smells like you've made a gorgeous Indian curry and kept your jacket in the kitchen while cooking it. It might smell good to eat but you don't want your clothes stinking of it.
