This game, before COVID, was one of those novelty "Haha I am doing terrible things to humanity" games. A game you'd play once in a while, just because it's unique and there's nothing quite like it. It was a game you could joke around in. This game, after COVID, really showed you how terrifying what you're doing really is. Because our generation has seen a pandemic, we feel uncomfortable playing it. Almost as though, "what would happen if instead of COVID, we had this nightmare virus I've just made?" Truly a masterpiece of a game. It rises and falls in popularity as pandemics, epidemics, and other things spread in real life. It's interesting in a morbid way. Fascinating how a couple of years can change the way you see a silly little game like this one.
For some reason in my case I felt even more in love with plague Inc if not also wished something worse than weak covid-19 to happen because it didn't kill even 30% of global population to allow somethings to be balanced, example: too much mouths to feed and too many lazy parasites who just wait for government's help and those with power only seeking more and forgetting to use it... honestly? Pray for something worse *or else humanity will ruin itself permanently if it doesn't go extinct before that.*
This game gave me the true villain experience, i make a deadly virus, it spreads throughout the population, thousands upon millions die, but suddenly, it happens, and my wonderfully crafted plan comes falling down , just like that.
you can make a deadly thing called "unnoticable virus" then evolve another really deadly things like "total organ failure" and "necrosis" and coma to harm these mini creatures trying to delete your story but only after you infect the world.
The first time i played this game is 3 years ago (14/2/2019). I randomly downloaded to phone without any previous recommendation. And after playing it, i had a little anxiety about surrounding, such as risk of infection by unknown disease, especially in my office place. And....😥
When I was a kid and played this game long ago, I felt after the crying and cough sounds of children, an extreme sense of anxiety and terror about if what I did wasn't a game, but the real life, killing millions for fun didn't seem so funny for me at that age. Now I rarely play it. But indeed such a masterpiece.

Direct control is my favorite the paradox of such a docile melody yet somehow sounding extremely oppresive, nefarious, and malicious. It feels me with a calming, soothing sense of dread and hopelessness, Truly a masterpiece of a theme.

Plague Inc was updated sometime recently and some of the music has been altered... for the worse. Probably a rushed sample copyright compliance job. So I hope this reupload of the good versions doesn't get taken down.
I don't know why the original and evolved versions use different music for the menu, the standard plagues and the neurax worm. Respectively, initiation, plague bloom and direct control are used in the mobile version while evolution, plague blossom and all in your head are used in evolved. Evolved is not a sequel just an enhanced port, and is weirder that neither of the versions let you use the music of the other. The games however do share the music of the other plagues and the cure mode
Absolutely no horror game can induce as much fear and uncomfortability as this game does. Whilst horror games are mostly fiction, what you're doing in this game is eradicating your own race with a horrible and painful disease (this game was released back in 2012 so they took the population count of 2012) so if you were born before 2012 you're killing yourself too (me included) and this soundtrack, ugh. Chills... Playing this game just feels wrong in every single way possible.

I don't know why, but when I playing this game I imagine myself like a bacteria, infecting and invading the world, making bacteria superior to humans, and I like it. since I was a child I have always been interested in the subject of bacteria, parasites, virus, etc, although I am careful and not even crazy would try to infect me with something, but I love to investigate what bacteria, parasites, deadly viruses, etc do. I knew this game thanks to a video of deleted games (I found out that this game in China was removed) and I thought the idea of creating your own plague and infecting as much as you can was crazy, the music of this game is sublime, it conveys what the horror what a bacteria, parasite, virus, etc. can cause in the people.
