I missed the tri-nation ODI series held in Australia. When i was growing up, i used to see it. It was called Carlton and United Series back then and then they changed it to VB series. Why have they stopped playing tri-nation series, it was so good. Aus-WI-Pak or Aus-SA-NZ or Aus-Eng-SL or Aus-Pak-Ind, such great contests, we need it back plz

The ODI's used to be played after the test series in January and was on free to air television. No scheduling issues and everyone knew it was on. We could attend because it was on in the holidays. This ain't rocket science. Greed is leading cricket down the drain.

For India to win or compete they need to ensure they can put up 300 total consistently and then have their bowling put pressure on Aus batting.
If India cannot do consistently as a team, then Aus easily taking 3-1 series win or 4-0.

Australia used to go into the summer with the goal to win every series. Even after a 5 test series there'd be a long tri series after and the best players would still play with the odd one resting every now and then. Cummins missing the decider to go watch Coldplay is a disgrace. And this "we can't be arsed to go to Perth" attitude has to stop. Last time I checked Western Australia was still part of Australia and it's only a 4 hour flight, it's not like going to the UK for a one off game. Australia got what they deserved and their batting was really exposed by quality pace bowling, last year by Shamar Joseph and now by Pakistan. The last time they ignored odi cricket (admittedly because they got bored of dominating for so long), they took a nose dive after 2015 and it cost them the 2019 World Cup and potentially another 3 World Cup wins in a row.
If they just focus all their white ball cricket on t20 after the test summer it will just become an exhibition series where no one cares if they win or lose and the results will just be a lottery anyway. I hope they don't fall into that trap. There's no value in international Big Bash

  • @lxpang

Remember the days when players would do anything to play for Australia. They would kick up a fuss if they didn't get selected. They would play at all costs not just for the love of country, but because they knew if they gave the player behind them a chance to play well, they might lose their spot. Absolute disgrace where the game has got to in this country, where all stakeholders are comfortable with the captain going to a concert instead of leading the team in a must win game. If they don't care - why should we?

We also didn’t have the ridiculous schedule we have today where our 3-format players have to play games almost all the time, transitioning between formats. If the schedule stays as is, there needs to be some give and take to allow those 3 format players time to rest and recuperate, especially leading in to a 5 test series in 6 weeks and especially for fast bowlers.

All major cricketing nations have treated the One Day game poorly since at least 2015, with T20 Cricket becoming the main meal. For example England's domestic one day competition is held as the same time as the Hundred where all stars are playing. CA can't promote ODI cricket to the masses when you have sold the rights to pay TV not Free to Air, at least Rugby Union can still promote Wallabies end of year tour even if behind a pay-wall because the pay-wall is part of the Channel 9 family.
This ODI series against Pakistan was the last ODI's before next year's ODI Champions Trophy so the squad should have been the thirteen players that we going to take to Pakistan for that tournament and the whole series should have been played in one location.

Cmon! Every cricket fan knew that there was a game on at MCG. Depends who you playing at the end of the day. If it was England or India playing that day things could’ve been different. Tell someone there’s Aus v India at MCG and there only a 25k crowd. They’ll probably laugh. Truth is that people didn’t think Aus v pak was a game worth spending $200 on for a night. Jadeja

@@saralagrawal7449 I would take a bold decision and go with Nithish Reddy and Mukesh Kumar. Somehow, Siraj is not giving me that confidence. So my team would be
      Yashaswi
      KL Rahul
      Shubhman
      Virat
      Rishabh
      Dhruv
      Washington
      Nitish Reddy
      Bumrah
      Akashdeep
      Mukesh
If you check the previous stats, spinner are significantly less effective on this track and bowled very less compared to pacers. Nathon Lyon is an outlier. So I would take a bet only on off-spinner (Washi) which can be effective specifically against their two aggressive lefties Travis Head and Alex Carry. He is a decent off-spinner against righties as well and on top of it his current form.
I would bet on Mukesh here than Siraj. He had been quite good in practice games as well. Moreover, I would prefer a bowler whose line and length is more consistent than other factors. Mukesh fits in perfectly. Last time when Pakistan visited the Perth Optus, a bowler name - Khurram Shehzad was more effective. He is a disciplined bowler. So I would go with Mukesh.
