What was the cause of Thorpe's death?
It’s such a sad story, his problems started way back in 1997 when the woman he had fling with on a NZ tour sold her story News of the World. Thorpe’s then wife also sold her stories to UK tabloids saying that he habitually cheated on her. Then a very public and acrimonious divorce and custody battle folllowed. He had a mental breakdown during the Lord’s test in 2002 and took a year out. He seemed to have turned his life around when he married for the second time in 2007 but clearly the demons were always there. He tried to commit suicide in May 2022, was in intensive care for 4 months. His second attempt in 4th Aug was sadly successful when he threw himself under a train 😢
@@RachaelDilks-h2l Yes, I saw that a few days ago. Sad.
@@sentimentalbloke185 he was definitely England’s best player in the 90s / early 2000s and a good coach by all accounts. If you get to read his autobiography published in 2005, an interesting read.
@@RachaelDilks-h2l Yes, for the Aussies he was the hardest nut to crack, harder than Stewart, Atherton, Hussain etc. Shame he had his demons & couldn't exorcise them.
@@sentimentalbloke185 it’s horrible 🥲
Shocking CEO. I barely attend cricket anymore because the schedule is so messed up and no proper one day series because idiot CEO's like this have Big Bash as a priority over other cricket that means more to me.

Hockley managed to upset all of WA.
Thanks for letting us all know about your new venture, Peter. 👍 I have subscribed. Hockley may have done some 'good' things, but he was a PR disaster. This is not sustainable by ANY organisation - let alone the CEO of Cricket Australia. M 🦘🏏😎

Useless cricket expert
Some people in SA also claiming the feet of sky touched the cushion from LHS angle. That angle (LHS) is prone to optical illusion. The other angles (RHS) show he was far from the rope and It was green grass which plugged out. The banner on the rope doesn't move at all, the soil (with some grass) does. From LHS, It was merely parallax effect effect btwn the shoe of sky, bottom of cushion and the grass. Clearly some grass comes off which is clear from RHS angle at high quality vedio and that made confusion from LHS angle. The bottom of cushion was vertically aligned and some grass plugged out bcz of friction btwn shoe and the soil and from that it was looked like something at the bottom of cushion vibrated. It's confusion bcz of optical illusions (poor resolution in zoom). The bottom (white border of blue cloth) was still centimetres behind when grass comes off. other angles show he was far from the rope.
Sir why were you watched that catch from only one angle???? Social media vedio???? From LHS angle it looked like someting moves but it not the white banner of cushion its the grass which moved. Why??? Its clear from another angle. From opposite angle (third umpire watched) RHS he is far away to touch that rope at same position. And green grass clearly comes off which was visible. From LHS angle its the soil and grass that moves not tha banner. Sky had high speed..when he replaced that place that white banner was not perturbed it was intact. Some grass was in front of that banner.
There is a choke and there is a strangle and there is a difference between the two.
Do not try to make a controversy out of a clean & genuine catch. Just discuss the cricket
Nobody cares about that sports journalist. Fcuk off. That was a fair catch.
Stupid analysis
Biased commentary.
Angelo Christian racist mindset against Non White Sky catch
This is the stupidest coverage/commentary I’ve seen of the world cup final and kohli. Non sense by Robert
It's a parallax effect btwn the spike of sky, the grass and the bottom of the cushion (white line). If you watch full vedio and zoom from both angle it's some grass plugged out and comes off in front of white line of blue cloth (cushion). More clear from RHS angle. You can check it from icc uploaded vedio or hotstar. Some pak and SA fan spread a vedio of 3 sec from LHS angle with in appropriate zoom angle and poor quality vedio. Too make more confusion. That bottom of cushion was 1 or 2 cm behind to touch the shoe. It's grass comes off with some soil. Parallax effect. That's why education is important.
Don’t get worked up over the comments, I think it was a fair analysis with some opinion mixed. This isn’t Godi media
You will bath in bcci/ipl money jiz till eternity.... DEAL WITH IT REST OF THE FREAKING WORLD!
when Australia becomes Lostralia it is cos'tralia, you know cos this cos that
Initially I thought it touched. But actually not. There was a white border line of blue cloth. You set a point of that white border line from start point and end point as a straight line. And then try to watch zoom vedio from both angle (not one angle like some SA fan spread). From left angle it is clear that only that white border line of that blue cloth could touch his shoe bcz it was border line and in front. Also it was vertical cloth with white border line and stand tall. Now watch it carefully slowly from left side angle at high quality zoom: 1) when his feet was not close to that line (where he could touch) there was no external substance initially. 2) when his feet enter to that point his shoe rubbed the ground and some external substance comes off which is grass. Now prove?????? Follow the distance from any virtual point (nearer at the ground) to that white border line and when sky left that place you follow that distance. It's will be clearly visible that some grass is infront of that white line but that white line is bit behind of that substance and that intact from left to right as a whole. Basically, bcz of that grass plugged off quickly it creat confusion. But that white borderline is some distance behind from that grass and that feet could only touch that white line. No cloth was on the ground initially. It's stand vertically. It's blue cloth with white border line. Then some grass comes off and liked like it vibrated. Again, I am saying, Initially that cloth was vertically stood tall and it had white border line. When he left the place that some external substance (clearly glass) is in front of that white line but that white line looked straight like initial state from left to r8 just the grass cover the small part of it from that angle. Also there is no vibration on blue cloth. 2) Now from another angle for RHS::: You can follow it from star sports highlights that it's clearly visible that some grass comes off and flies over that white border of the blue cloth and feel on the ground but their is some milimeter distance btwn that white line and those grass. It will clear you the whole thing altogether. You can zoom it from start sports. Don't believe others vedio why will watch you worse possible position. It's bit of understanding in depth, concentration and bit of physics. Thank you
you so called journalist old farts can't get over the fact that India won the T20 don't yo?. who do you think you are to rewrite the ICC rules?
There is a subtle desire to undermine the success; they feel good about it.
CRY MORE YOU COATS
No actually someguys editing the catch with vfx probably someone who doesn't like us. I saw that video too.
shaun pollock explained it that it was out. It's all about ICC playing condition. No one SA greatest like Steyn Smith claim it even SA skipper. Fox cricket (post against india most of the time) and wisden cricket not claimed about it why???? Bcz it's fair. One bowler is on the mark then the cushion is the final boundary. In many games ropes are used to shifted bcz of change of pitch. First: It could be same (white line and rope) from the start of the match. Some said northje did it during fielding when Kohli hits 4 in first over . Then whole india batting in same boundary. Second: once bowler in the mark the cushion (rope which we follow) is the ultimate boundary. After bowling a delivery If a fielder shift it first then caught the ball then the marker will be original (ICC 9:3:3). But it's of during that delivery. Once the bowler on mark the cushion is the final one which ponting Pollock explained. If it is shifted then it should be corrected otherwise ball will be considered as dead ball (9:3:2). So the ball is dead??? No it's total 6,7 rule all together presents the outcome and according to icc playing condition umpire is correct. In many games even in psl the boundary marker (line) and rope are diff bcz it used to vary in diffrent situation in diff match especially if pitches is changed or excessive rain etc. It's a serious claim and except some pak, SA fan no one cares it specialy expert, ex cricketers even in SA. Either the rope was same from ball one or it should be dead. 9:3:3 only applied for a particular delivery not the entire match which people misunderstood. They should read all 9:3:2 to all rule about that and understand the outcome also ICC playing condition. And his feet touched the rope????? Please watch it in 240p by zoom. It's the grass. His shoe rubbed the ground during fast running..bcz of frictional force btwn shoe and the ground some grass was plugged out. That ground is like mat of grass. Since he rubbed the ground some grass (maybe with some soil) plugged out and it made confusion. Umpire watch in both angle. Common sir..
Initially I thought the feet of sky touched the cushion but it actually not. Don't trust on some 4s vedio which spread on social media from wrong angle to creat more misconception. Watch the whole vedio then zoom both angle which has been shown and do it scientifically analysis step by step with time. You can watch it many times. 1) There was a white border line of blue cloth. You set a point of that white border line from start point and end point as a straight line. And then try to watch zoom vedio from both angle (not one angle like some SA fan spread). From left angle it is clear that only that white border line of that blue cloth could touch his shoe bcz it was border line and in front. Fully agree.. that boundary rule is like- I enter your house and keep jumping in the air like a monkey and claim that I am still outside!
The catch taken by SKY was clean. That's that. Rest is history. Team India won fair and square. Let's also agree that South Africa didn't choke without a fight. They need to work on mental toughness. Nerves got to them like they always have. Last 5 overs was where they were undone by brilliance of Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya and jangling nerves. Period.
Jealousy without sounding so and making it appear like some constructive ideas for betterment of the game. Well done. Guys get life.
This white guys neva appreciate whenever sub-continent won any major trophy.... Now cricket belong to Asian century... Sorry to all yellow teeth fella😂😂😂
White men are jealous 😂😂
Personally I think what should be outlawed is a player throwing in a catch from outside the boundary to another player thus 2 people completing the catch. If its done by the same player, I feel that should remain a fair catch.
I was in Australia during the World Cup for holidays and none of the hotels were showing the matches . Had to do with watching footy or what ever it’s called Australian rugby. Completely agree the world cups shud be on the normal telly.
Cry hard 😂
The mystery of this catch makes this all the more exciting. It's not clear if it's a right or wrong catch. His shoe tip could have kissed it by a hair or it could just be the force from the air rush generated when he thumbed his foot on the ground and the vibration as just the fabric on the Toblerone moved very so lightly.
Could’ve would’ve should’ve. The catch was 100% legit. Get over yourself.
White guy crying 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Cry mf 😂😂😂😂
By the way in baseball the rules state 1. A fielder may reach over a fence, a railing, a rope, or a line of demarcation to make a catch. 2. When the ball bounces off the wall, the team on defense tries to catch it. If they catch it before it hits the ground that is an out! So that comparison is a bit off
Maybe we should start looking at having 2 or 3 separate teams. One for the test and another team for the white ball contest.
Guys, Guys. Don't worry. Let us come to their shore for the BGT. We'll see then. All the bitching and moaning
If maxwell took rhe catch, its will be wow
Not sure about the comment of kohli scraping the last few years. He looked invincible in the one day world cup
In the one day world cup he was playing his natural game . Like anchoring when he needs to and attack if he has the chance . In the T20 world cup he was not playing his natural game until the final . He was playing as an opening batsmen like jaiswal . But he is not an attacking batsmen like jaiswal so it was not working but he played his natural game in the final and kept the innings going and score some big runs in between .
