They are doing that: Konstas for Khawaja's spot, Fraser-McGurk for Warner's white ball role, Green future no. 4 after Smith retire, Hardie, Webster or Sutherland alternatives for Marsh spot, Short and Connolly for Glen Maxwell type role and Johnson & Bartlett are the next Starc n Hazlewood
Stunned that last Summer selectors picked a non opener to open and got burnt. So .. now they have picked a non opener to open. This will not end well I fear 😮
Yet they won 3 out of 4 test and the non opener batted through the 4th innings for 90 not out in the test we lost in Brisbane one more batter stays in he gets his 100 and Australia win. he batted well but got some great balls on green top wickets by some great bowling . the non opener in his first 2 test got a not out in the second innings. So enlighten the world how we got burnt.
@TheRandwickboy yes and Smith was so determined to protect his opening average of 35 that he put the #11 on strike needlessly and Australia lost to ... the WEST INDIES at home. You think he's going back to #4 just for "team balance"?? 😅
The best batters in shield cricket aren't openers, so Bailey picked the best bats McSweeny a no. 3 and Inglis a no.4 for the top 6. Surely Inglis gets a go at some point, like at no. 5 in Perth and Trav Head can return from paternity leave in Adelaide.
Great answer by bails when he said that they're damned when they don't blood new talent and damned when they play an inexperienced team. I'd rather see guys like inglis learn to lead rather than the seven billionth smudge nick off for 7
Good questions... Here's how it looks though, from a 'mug' punter's perspective. They were in Adelaide, with the next game in Perth a 3 and a bit hour flight away, with the Perth Test 12 days post the Perth ODI, or 9 days with a 3 day prep. They would have flown back east on Monday after the ODI... so that leaves at least one week until the flight back to Perth. What do the West Coast and Freo Dockers boys do for an entire footy season? If they were so concerned about too many flights to and from Perth, why did they schedule the last ODI in Perth? To rest ALL the Test boys was disrespectful to Pakistan, and the WA cricket loving public, who may only be able to afford one day at the cricket this season to see their favourite Test player... but are we surprised with the contempt Cricket Australia displays towards other countries and supporters given for starters, they've not played a Test in the West Indies since 2015. A terrible look for Skipper to be at Cold Play... and they wonder why they are nowhere near as loved as teams past. CA would want to hope it doesn't go pear-shape against India, who will be smarting and keen to redeem after the Kiwi whitewash.
Give them all the exact amount of game time and foot massages make them best for the bgt. That will be rembered for decades while this pakistan series will be forgotten when the t20s are over.
So having no standout batsman is fine, but having a handful of average batsmen to choose from is ideal. The sooner they get rid of this bloke the better.
Lets hope we continue this bashing to Australia. I am very sure their preparations for the BG series will be great…😂George Bailey should be sacked for this comment only, that they prioritised the test series over a limited over series. No wonder cricket is dying in Australia.
Crucial questions being asked to the cheif selector is awesome. Keep thie up was great to listen too.
We need a team of selector's for the selector's
The selectors should be feeling the pressure too…
The content is really good, but can you do something about the background - it just doesn't match - too dark-ish. Big fan of the discussions!
Selectors should start looking for alternatives. Groom the players for certain spots.

@ I would love to see these guys on A tours. And drafting them to the squad as and when possible.

15:40 bros straight yapping there’s multiple options not bc there’s multiple good ones but there is no stand out batters / batting depth

Why nathan macsweeney Australia dont have any opner???

Yes, absolutely. I'm sure if they were getting paid big $$$ for game 3 all the big names would have been there 😅

Pakistan vs Australia b team

Politician's response from Bailey, i.e. learned nothing at all. Weak. Aussies deserve better.
About what?
