Always take a potato anyway. Great for burns! Scrape a large mush for the burn.. Pile it up. Place something over it to hold in place.. Just leave it. Preferably overnight. It kills the pain instantly! I've been using this method for 40 years. Don't use if the skin is broken.. Love the videos..
Good looking material you have here. New subscriber to the channel and your IG courtesy of a recommendation by Shawn Kelly. Looking forward to not sleeping tonight watching your videos!
Great set up. Woodsrunner gave you a decent shout out. I'm glad to see you getting some attention. I hope you enjoy the class. Keep up what you are doing my friend, John.
Awesome trial run brother.....looked a mite chilled! Well done getting your fire going under cold wet conditions as well. Good luck on your intermediate class and remember to have fun!!!...atvb...woods
Outstanding brother! Great setup. If you’re not subbed to Matt at Blackhat Bushcraft, go check him out, he’s one of the instructors at the Pathfinder School, he’s a very cool dude, and knows his stuff. That’s awesome that you are going to attend, very cool brother!
SurvivorMetalMan Thanks bro! Matt definitely knows his stuff. I am really looking forward to this trip. I have been learning from these guys for about a year online through their respective channels, so this will be really cool to work hands on with them.
Friction fire and compass/map navigation are the two most important things to know before you go. As far as comfort items I recommend something like Gatoraid powder to flavor hydration and supplement electrolyte and sugar levels. I wish you the best.
Tramontane Thank you, sir. Definitely the two that I am focusing on. Good idea on the gatorade. They just issued a statement on the FB group regarding no cooked food. Seems like they have quite a busy weekend planned.
Yes busy indeed, and you will appreciate the extra boost from the sugar and balanced hydration with electrolites. Expect some sleep deprivation if the participants are required to do 4 hours fire watch at night.
I've been checking out these German Flecktarn pup tents just like these! That website I told you about the Dutch tents were all gone, I was bummed even after the dude told me they were in stock a week later they never shipped. Army surplus is drying up all over unless you pay crazy high now it's crap haha take care brotha!!(=✌💚
Base12 Productions thanks! I was actually trying to get on season 8 of Alone. Had a solid foundation prior to Scout, but wanted to learn some things on primitive trapping. A few people had been on the show in earlier seasons that had attended the school. Didn’t get on the show, but the class was a great experience.
It was a rat trap. They are typically made out of bamboo, with a trigger inside and a snare. I used a log split 4 ways and carved out. Trigger needed tightened up. Pretty interesting trap. They make them in Asia.
ed swede You Know the right word spelling thank you Ed.... You should study about pee for medicine ..any rash any infection cut or more ...some people drink it ...it is not number two ... Made your experience...good for the garden also Thank you Ed..look at Michel off-grid ...that me I put more went I learn the way to put it on RUclips
Dont take there class bad school A lot of the stuff they teach is old school yes but a lot of bad advice there's more modern techniques and modern equipment that can replace what they teach sometimes and limo station is not always the way to go you're forced to go there fine but don't prepare to go out and do that that's what gets people hurt and killed unnecessarily and being from search and rescue background I know exactly what I'm talking about
Have you taken any classes there? I thought it was exceptional. I didn't think it was old school, but rather simply focused on the basics of survival (fire, water, shellter, tools and food) with some serious land navigation throughout. Gear was intentionally eliminated to just the basics to teach how not to die in a worst case scenario. None of the gear was meant to replace more modern gear, but rather to let you appreciate its value when you don't have it. I like sleeping bags, but I also like wool.It is a sustainable natural material that can let you get right next to the fire. I hike a good bit and see how unprepared people can be. Its crazy. People hiking through back country with no gear and maybe a water bottle. The pathfinder school wasn't about any of that nonsense. All the techniques we worked on were legit. I am thankful for knowledge and experience.
@@EnduranceRoom no see his video and tv show 2 yr in search and rescue not ever one is up to his lvl lot kid i see repeat his work takeing just wool blanket out to camp
Good stuff, bro. I hope you don’t lose that pack frame next time I see you. Or that sweet Old Hickory you were running

Great insight on gear and the intermediate course. What made you decide to go directly to the scout school before Basic? Just curious. Thanks.

My friend get a halogen bottle for a pee bottle ...you will never regret it sleeping out at minus 20 and lower that the best
