  • Leicester City FC have confirmed that their owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, died when his helicopter crashed outside the stadium.
The Thai billionaire and four other people were killed on Saturday evening.
Stunned Foxes fans have been gathering to pay tribute at the club's ground, where thousands of bouquets and scarves have been left.
Mr Srivaddhanaprabha took over Leicester in 2010 and saw the club pull off their incredible Premier League title victory in 2016.

R.I.P. What an amazing person he was. So generous, passing people food, drinks, paying travel for away games, giving 60 people season tickets and much more. He deserved his success, proved by his kindness, hardworking spirit and overall attitude and focus to life and his future. He had so much commitment for what he did. Buying Leicester city football club and building it to what it is today. He invested so much money into the club and actually bothers to watch the games, unlike some of the owners. What a shock to hear someone so influential unfortunately pass away. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. At least he dies as a happy and successful man, achieving greatness and glory he deserved. A true champion dies achieving great things and with happiness. This man is a true champion. ❤️

Champion is one of my favourite words in the English language, and there is more meaning to it than winning trophies, even in circumstances as unlikely as Leicester; what makes Vichai a champion is all of the things people are saying about him here. But ultimately he was a champion at the helm of one of football's finest hours. He'll never be forgotten.

Every sports fan in my country was among those around the world mesmerized by the Leicester side that trailblazed through 38 rounds of Premiership football and won the title. He may have passed away, but the fruits of his work remain ingrained in the mindset and enshrined in the history books, silverware and memorabilia. I was in Rome studying at Uni when Leicester had won the PL. I was in a pub in a neighborhood where Claudio Ranieri came from. The entire pub was dead silent and in shock at the realization that Leicester were crowned Champions. Leicester City became one of my favorite football clubs because of the way they defended, held on to 1 goal leads and played with such courage despite being pegged as heavy under dogs. I fell in love with Leicester City because they represented something that everyone has been at one time or another. Going from afterthought to the best and having the attitude to never give up really appealed and did motivate me in my life. I wish all the victims, families of the victims, players and supporters the best and I want to thank you for that marvelous season that will forever stay with me for the rest of my life.
