I can't speak for Arthur, but I would guess both. Anyone can attain benefits from yoga practice... a diligent practitioner can attain abilities that exceed the average if one puts the time in. In my observation, there are some body types that are more adapted to extreme expressions of posture. Most people have certain strengths and weaknesses according to their anatomy. A thin skeletal frame seems somewhat, to correlate with extreme flexibility. A stalkier frame seems to correlate roughly with strength. Through practice, one seeks to strengthen their weaknesses and perfect their strengths. You can see that Arthur is quite strong (well above average), balancing on one arm takes some real effort... but as strong as Junior? Junior is quite flexible (well above average)... but as flexible as Arthur? This is a casual opinion from a 12 year practitioner, 7 year teacher of Hot Yoga practice... for the little it is worth. ;)
Glass Menagerie Thanks alot! The problem I'm experiencing is that I'm pretty strong but NOT flexible at all. It seems like I'm not making progression trough stretching which makes me give up. Every evening I stretch for 20 mins to half an hour but it seems like I am back to start the next day I try it. Can anybody get flexible, although they're so non-flexible at the start?
***** Yes, unless you have some abnormal physical condition... anyone can become more flexible. I recommend the Hot style (Bikram) as the heated environment helps the tissues to loosen up and stretch deeper, more safely. It will also improve balance, strength and stamina. I just gotta say tho, "Bikram" is a dudes name, and that particular dude is a royal douche... his yoga style is awesome, but as an individual, he uses the attention from the popular style to elevate his ego, which is the exact opposite of what Yoga is intended for.... that's why I call it Hot Yoga instead of Bikram... but then people don't know I'm talking about the same thing... alas... a real quandary for me since I love the practice. Those classes are 90 mins long... if you can fit 3 classes in a week you should see some noticeable difference in 30 days... substantial difference in 90. Do your normal stretching on the days you don't go, anything that's tight, stretch it... slow steady persistence is more effective than sudden forceful effort. Pull steady for the duration of the posture, rather than bouncing. The more often you practice, the faster your progress will be.. but if you hit it really hard right from the start, you will be sore all the damn time for awhile (months) while your physique catches up to your efforts.
***** By the way... Ive always wanted to dance like this and have great admiration for the bboy virtuosos of the world, but I don't have anyone to guide me... Want to point me in a direction? Where is a good place to start? I've got the strength and flexibility, but no moves... No idea where to begin.
You and what you do are amazing. Thank you for everything.

Hey Arthur I have a question: Have you always been flexible or you trained as hell for it? Or both?
