Wout crashing out has kind of ruined the Vuelta for me. Wout has an aggressive riding style we all love but things like this crash can happen. He got it the worst out of the group. Hopefully, the injuries are not too be and he will recover for the world championship.

Then he was braking and off line in the curve and into the stone retaining wall.... what a shame. WVA is perhaps my favorite rider in the pro peloton and he was just getting back into form. Heal fast Wout!
He's an amazing bike handler, and despite a number of hard crashes he still has the guts to push it to the limit. Sometimes he pays the price. Wishing you a fast recovery Wout.

Wout is the king of bad luck this season!! And it seems that when Wout is allowed to do what he wants to try to win stages, he much more successful than he have to work for the team leader or for the team, when he can be Wout Van Aert (with all his characteristics)he achieve much better results!! We know that this Vuelta is different from other grand tours, even so a rider like Wout Van Aert in the middle of the 16th stage is the leader of KOM ,shows that he is really a very special rider!
What a pity for the great Wout that had two jerseys in this stage, the green and the pois white and blue and he was ipotecate all these jerseys with a great condition that supported him on this Vuelta. A final DNF from the race, I'm so in pain for him!
Apart from Tom pidcock this guy is my favourite rider. I just like how he rides, his hard work, unassuming attitude and professionalism. He’s quite simply a very likeable guy. I hope he makes a quick recovery as he has had a lousy year so far.

This was like a horror movie. All along we knew something was bad & the camera kept not showing his right side. When they finally did, I had to turn away. Rest up WVA & hopefully the injuries look worse than they are.
The moment you see him turn right on his bike with the right leg still extended you know, if you're anything of a rider yourself, that he's done. It goes against all your instincts to not bend your leg towards the turn, meaning his body was like "nope, the kneed won't bend anymore today"
He must have lost it and then hit the curb and then hit a rock with his right knee. You could see that he was reticent to put pressure on the right side after getting up. That knee must be stiffening up. Hopefully, he didn't get any quad tendon damage. Shame. Hopefully, he can recover for next year. Good luck, Mr. van Aert!
100% agree! I really like WVA but sometimes he has to ride smarter. The downhill was very dangerous, he had to ride carefully and let more space to the rider in front of him. On that moment he had nothing to win but everything to lose. Such a pity! 😢
The Vuelta never recovered from his crash and was boring until the final stage, after Wout's crash. He does have an opportunity now to change himself, become a bit lighter. I am convinced that he could win one of the 3 grand tours, if he wanted too and trained for it

With Ben in Red for so many days chapeau Wout was the one to root for this whole Vuelta, such a shame he crashed out like he did. Roglic must’ve put a hex on him & Jonas after crying off to Bora, yet he ain’t that great ( wheelsucked again today ) I bet Pogi is home thinking he should’ve done the Treble Singlehanded & then Worlds as a treat for real fans of cycling 😂
