I feel you bro, the gameplay broke me. i made it to the second to last floor for Sora and just couldn't keep going. It's my least favorite, gameplay wise, but the story is so so good, we really see aspects of Sora that are either glossed over/he forcibly represses as the series goes on. I also ended up watching the cutscene compilations, ty gamerslittleplayground. Castle of Oblivion is so pivotal for Riku, i always get a little sad that the story is kinda stuck behind difficult gameplay, tho i know ppl have different opinions about RE:CoM gameplay. Looking forward to what you have to say about KH2 - word of advice if you want it; the second visits to the worlds in KH2 are, in my opinion, a slog, but keep at it cause this game is a lot of fun to play, it just sometimes throws long ass hallways and gimmicks at you, but other than that, fun to play, and the story makes me scream when all the pieces are finally put together. enjoy your KH journey!!!
Yea man the story is amazing to see the characters progression throughout it but that gameplay is such a drag it’s not even worth going through the torture tbh and yea it’s definitely some mixed opinions amongst people about re:com but that’s cool because people are supposed to have their own opinions and yea I’m enjoying kh 2 so far and I wanna finish it soon but have been super busy with other things
It took me almost two years to finish this game, it was a completely miserable experience and I dropped it multiple times, the only saving grace was really the story. I finally beat Riku's route last week and now I'm almost at the end of KH2 and loving every second of it
Miserable is an understatement man that was probably one of the most stressful games I’ve played and I’ve beaten elden ring. And the story is definitely the best part of that game
I like the game. It’s more about strategy and building your deck correctly. It’s definitely one of the most unique games I’ve ever played. I prefer the original KH combat but I liked this one too.
currently replaying this game and i won’t lie i liked it a lot. something about the card system was super fun and made me think. this is good criticism of Re: Chain of Memories
I respect that but for myself I just couldn’t get with the card system. Maybe one day I’ll go back to play it again but as of right now it’s probably not gonna happen
I get you bruh. I played the game until halloween town and just dropped it. Watched all the cutscenes on yt and went to the next game. I've played every game and i promise you watching all these cutscenes on youtube is gonna be worth it when you play kingdom hearts 2.
Yea man I wanted to really try to get through it but decided it just wasn’t worth it and yea I’m playing 2 rn and it’s amazing and I’m actually gonna stream it Friday night
COM on the gba can still be very difficult if you don’t know what you’re doing, but yeah it works so much better in the 2D space. It’s very visually pleasing especially compared to all the reused assets in RECOM. The grind to level 99 on both characters wasn’t particularly fun though. If you ever get the chance I recommend giving that game a shot. This video is definitely making me look forward to eventually playing RECOM even less but your reasoning seems valid.
It probably is but like you said in a 2d space it’s more manageable than 3d and I’ve seen some clips and it definitely fits 2d visually. And if I find my gameboy soon I’ll definitely try it on there
Managing your cards is less stressfull on the GBA because everything was 2D and you can keep an eye on everything. Re:Chain made it extremely unwieldy and stressful by being 3D; you can't keep track of enemies!
@alwaysabiggafish3305 Its personal experience; I've beaten Re:Chain but I always go back to Chain. The Card System wasn't made for 3D in mind and it shows.
I was 13 when I first played RECOM but I dropped it. Then two years later I decided to pick it up again and actually defeat it and it was the most satisfying thing ever
lol i don't blame you for hating it! i played it back in 2008 on the ps2, only got a few floors in, put my controller down, and decided to you know what? i don't need the story lmao luckily now we have people making movies out of the cutscenes on youtube, but back then that didn't really exist. i mean, kingdom hearts is kinda confusing and convoluted, so you always have the feeling of not really knowing what's going on anyways. so if you don't play one of the games, is missing out on some backstory really that bad, all things considered? lol
If I could understand the card system at 11 years old, playing it on my gba having never even heard of the original kingdom hearts and I still understood this game perfectly I don't understand why everyone has such a hard time with it. Serriously this game was my first jrpg that wasn't turn based so it's not like you need to be a genius to figure it out.
Riku in this game just isn't fair. Along with a couple of the Org members too. Like you really gotta understand and utilize the combo cards [is that the sleight system? I forget] to be able to beat the game.
He isn’t fair at all man and yea it’s the sleight system you’re honestly gonna have to look up guides for this game to even have a chance it’s actually crazy
I tried not to abuse the sleights, but I got to vexen and just caved at that point. I appreciate that they tried with Re:Chain, but from what I've heard Chain fo Memories for the gameboy just did it better.
There was a difference between the two? I played the original, but quit after realizing "Oh, I gotta play solitaire the whole time? Nah" and picked up Re way later.
The game sticks the player with a loser/starter deck. You run into Riku 4 times. When I played, I had guides, and went straight for the sleights. Also stocked up on high cards and 0 cards. 0 cards at the end, to counter their sleights. After leveling a bit, the answer to Riku is the lethal frame sleight. With a loaded deck, he, and most of the other bosses, in the game, couldn’t do crap. Just.. don’t stick with the deck they gave you, swap out the weak cards for strong ones. The primary spells are overpowered when stacked, especially fire and blizzard. Repetitive Lethal frames takes out nearly every castle boss, even the Rikus. Abd sadly, the free cards and shop cards are rng.. but there are guides on RUclips that teach you the movement you need to take to land 9’s and 0’s on specific cards And then, there’s the card grades, which is a confusing mess in itself. Depending on what place a specific keyblade card is in in a basic combo, it can deal seriously heavy dsmage… But, if I’m being honest…
Knowing this, I found the game to be fun, UNTIL you get to marluxia’s, his battles at a load of garbage. Minmax the deck, Find the sleights, gather the treasures from the worlds, build a deck accordingly with the sleights you like, then weep over how cheap marluxia is. 🤦♂️
I will say I enjoyed the game and all the other non-numbered titles better on the systems they're originally made for. CoM is no different. I didn't care for Re:CoM but I absolutely Loved the GBA version
Correction. Re:Chain of Memories is terrible. Chain of Memories is actually good. Chain of Memories was a charming pixel art game on the GBA while Re:Chain of Memories is the Devil’s work.
@@Gatorboy5678 I think I said I didn’t like it in the 3d plane or maybe that was in another Video but I did say I wanna get a Ds to try the original version.
You got a voice that rivals that of Xemnas.

also honestly, 358/2 Days deserved the remake energy this game got; Re:CoM should have been the cutscene compilation collection [TAT]
i like this video title
I like the game. It’s more about strategy and building your deck correctly. It’s definitely one of the most unique games I’ve ever played. I prefer the original KH combat but I liked this one too.

lol neither one is difficult or stressful to play you guys are just bad!

It took me a while to get into the gameplay of this game. Earning all the trophies in this game was pretty rough.
Sheesh bro all the trophies? You need a Purple Heart for that
Thanks. It was a struggle@@whoskoji

The story was genuinely so good, if they just made it the usual gameplay, or even turn based, it Could've been soooooooooooooo much better
I said the same thing this game would’ve been perfect with the usual gameplay but I respect them trying something new but it just didn’t work
Man I feel you I just filled my inventory with 9s and spammed until I won frfr😂
I saw somebody do that on their walkthrough too and you can’t even be mad at that tbh
