- Rogue Trader, Warhammer 40,000 first edition, brought with it a golden age of Citadel Miniatures. Here we explore the Space Ork plastic box set that first came out in 1990. I bought this on ebay, and there are some spectacular conversions!
I definitely want more Orks (if only I had a budget tho)

My brother had this set and I had the imperial guard equivalent. I'd hoped they would still exist at my parents house - but alas lost to time. The only part of this box left was a single head with the helmet - parts of a Predator and a token from Space Hulk were the only other evidence I was obsessed with the hobby as a child.
I feel your pain. My folks threw so much stuff out when i left home that it upsets even now, 30 years later. Some griefs you never get over. Grimlock, Optimus Prime, my Millenium Falcon, AT AT , AT ST, my beloved Rancor.......and so much more.

@@Oldhammerandtongs I've picked up a few things from then (the Terminator Captain for example) - but the volume and rarity mean a full trip down memory lane are unlikely.

I got that exact box when I was a kid back in the day pretty much the same way you did with the imperial guard 👍

What a trip down memory lane. My buddy Andy had some of these. I picked up the Space Marines and later the Squats. The Squats are currently proxies in my Imperial Guard army.
You had some of the classic sets! And glad to hear your squats are still in action!

I picked up one of these boxes on ebay circa 2007/8. Actually... I picked up a ton of old RT stuff back then... getting in before oldhammer got popular, you might say. Not really sold on the quality of the Orks it contains - I prefer the single-piece metal castings they did a few years earlier.
Well done for getting in there before prices went bonkers! And it's true, very different sculpts and I wasn't keen back in the day. But now I love them!

Yes! A lot of love for the 80s and 90s style and general vibe. At first I thought it was pure nostalgia on my part, but even objectively the aesthetic and spirit of fun still holds true!

Unpopular opinion: I don't care what anyone says. GW old Models are so much better than their new stuff imo. I see shit like this and get soooo amped! It's just dripping with personality and I can't get over it! Thank you for sharing this is sick
