White Dwarf 109 Read Through, Part 1
Nice stuff! Need to make the pilgrimage one day
It's well worth it! I'd put it off for years - so happy I finally went!
Funny, I had that Schwimmwagen too and a Kubelwaggen. Tamiya were great… still are but like you.. not into that nowadays
Nice! Well if you do stumble upon them, they could make nice orc conversions!
Another cracking video matey. I’ve considered these before but I think now I’ve seen them in the flesh.. I’ll grab me some.
@@OldManPaints Excellent! They are fantastic. I've made a second order since making this video!
Hi G. Glad to find this. I used to have that WD. I must buy it again .. I’d forgotten all that marine goodness ! Thanks for unearthing it 🙌🏽
@@OldManPaints Thanks so much, Phil! That issue is a gem. Full read through video incoming!
3:17 Mark Copplestone sculpt
That's right! Thank you so much!
They look like amazing sculpts, would I be correct in thinking they’re fairly large (32mm) ?
Hmm, I'll take a comparison snap and send it over!
Another great find. I may be buying some of these! Will you be showing them again once you've painted them up?
They're great! And I certainly will be taking a brush to them! May not be until next year as I'm saving them for the army challenge. Fingers crossed I can do them justice! Thanks again for getting in touch!
Loving your channel!
That's so kind, thank you!
Just found your channel and so glad I did! Nothing better than delving into quirky Oldhammer. Incidentally, I think the giant gun is an auto- cannon from the Space Crusade Dreadnought!
@Boltchkoff Thank you so much, and welcome! And that is great Intel on the Space Crusade auto cannon. Wonder where the rest of that dreadnought ended up?!
Correction: Slaves to Darkness was published in 1988. I am a fool!
wonderful models!
Aren't they great?! Their range is superb, I had to restrain myself - could have happily bought way more!
Those are excellent sculpts. Right up my street. Thanks for sharing.
Absolute pleasure! I love them - straight out of GW's 1992 catalogue!
The 'Lesser Goblin' is from the V3 "Monster Starter Set" boxed set that GW released at some point (The V1 and V2 sets are pre-slotta sets). I have a few of them painted up, along with the rest of the set. He's my favorite gobbo... mainly down to the 'pug' face and mohawk.
Amazing Intel! Thank you so much. And yes, he's a cute wee fella!
Pleased to meet you, hope you enjoy the minis :-)
Thank you! I love them! Can't wait to get them painted up!
Was the warhammer comic the canceled adaptation of Watson's Space Marine - or was that later?
Ooh, good question! Looking purely at dates, I think Space Marine came out around 1993-94, so a bit later than this. But they could have fed into each other!
Wonderful!!!!
Thank you, and welcome!
Awesome! Looking forward to making my way through these videos
@@emilepelekanos3662 Thank you so much!
Awesome video! I just love those old models.
Thank you! They're classics, can't wait to get painting!
Can you pop the link in the description please. 👍🏻
Very good point! Just added, thank you!
Another kick ass video ❤
Thanks so much, Josh!
Those 1st 2 miniature looked very tempting.
They're great! Very good arbite / imperial guard options!
Hi, I've just found your channel and this is my sort of content. I see lots of "oldhammer' youtubers talking about 2nd edition 40k but RT 40k is the one for me. The artwork is amazing. This is my favourite painting guide and I try to emulate the style on my new Horus Heresy beakie marines. I wait in anticipation of your next upload. Liked and subscribed. BTW, its the OG Terminator Captain not a chaplain.
Thank you so much, and welcome! And thanks for the tip off about that terminator captain!
Old hammer is best hammer hands down! I’m crazy about how cool this stuff is. New hammer just can’t compete in my opinion
I completely agree! So much character and imagination! I bloody love it too
Another ‘bad ass!’ Video mate ❤ I’m about to start my Up My Own Arse Ultramarine army 😅atm. Talk soon
@thecrownofcommand5830 Hahaha! All the cool kids are going Ultra Marine! Thanks Josh!
there is something about the Rogue trader era that is so appealing...
So true! So much imagination - I love it!
@@Oldhammerandtongs yeah and all the rules and the art and everything. It truly was unique
@@thepavl So good!
I failed to mention that this guide came with the original Space Marine paint set!
Lovely video mate and alway ls nice to see these old relics of yesterday pop again to reminisce of the good old days ❤ looking forward to seeing what’s in the other boxes
@thecrownofcommand5830 Thanks so much, Josh! It was exciting to find this old time capsule!
That's cool stuff.
Isn't it?! I'm in love with all things Foundry!
i love these figures already im old old school last painted in the early 90s lol my claim to fame.. name in back of 1990 golden demon book ..... im a legend hahaha
You're famous, son! If you've got a picture of the model you painted, please do share!
Just found and subbed. Great stuff thanks!
That's awesome! Thank you!
Found the three headed Tzeentch exalted hero model the other day. I also have the night goblin giving you the bird model, it is still in the blister.
I have a Thorgrim Grudgebearer and the great book of grudges model from the old Warhammer Fantasy and it's unassembled
Wow! Any plans to paint it up?
What do you think of middlehammer and newhammer models?
Good question! Middlehammer is probably the sweet spot between the character of oldhammer and the technical quality of newer models. The new stuff is amazing quality and I love that people are still enjoying painting and playing, but it doesn't do it for me.
What are your thoughts?
@@Oldhammerandtongs personally, I like Middlehammer and Newhammer since those are what I'm most familiar with as I haven't been in the hobby for very long admittedly
@@ChaseDaOrk3767 Great stuff! Enjoy, and please do share any projects you're working on!
@@Oldhammerandtongs I sure will, I'm mostly active on Instagram btw
Oh wow! Loved this video as I have never seen this paint guide until now. I had the red one which was possibly published after this one. Thanks again for the wonderful Oldhammer content and keep it coming ❤
Thanks so much, Josh! Yes, this guide has been a loyal companion to me! I'd love to see a video about your red painting guide one day!
The Knights are ex-Citadel F9 Feudals. The 'Absolution Squad' were originally play test miniatures for Rogue Trader - using old Citadel 2000AD miniatures as the basis for the sculpts.
Aha! Thank you so much!
Fantastic minis
Old memories. If you ever try your hand at paint videos you should paint another Orc, following the guide.
That is a brilliant idea!
Thanks for sharing. What a great tribute to Brian Ansell
Thank you for watching! And yes, it is a brilliant monument to the great man.
I picked up this mini too, but they didn't explain it was Brian. So good to know!
@JuggleDrum I didn't realise at first either! After much squinting I realised that it's him!
So Bryan kept the painted miniatures? When I visited Warhammer World last year I thought they had a poor collection of old stuff. This explains it. I even asked about it but they couldn’t answer. I really need to go to BOYL!
The man knew how to drive a bargain!
And yes, I would recommend getting along to BOYL when you can. I've been meaning to for years! Foundry also worth a visit in it's own right if you can make it there!
❤ thank you for this new video and coverage about BOYL mate
Thanks so much, Josh!
Unpopular opinion: I don't care what anyone says. GW old Models are so much better than their new stuff imo. I see shit like this and get soooo amped! It's just dripping with personality and I can't get over it! Thank you for sharing this is sick
Thank you! And you have a popular opinion in these parts! So much love for the old skool vibe!
Sweet as a lead contaminated nut, thanks for directing me to these ranges, those knights look so decent. "They just don't make them like the did before"- (some do)
Aren't they great?! I really recommend checking the Foundry and Warmonger sites!
Old hammer is best hammer
100%!
I didn't get a poster in my second-hand copy. Did you notice the illustrated terminator is different from the model?
I got lucky! And no, I didn't notice! Very well spotted!
I recently got a copy from Ebay!
Awesome!
Its cool to see how far the hobby has gone. The details on the modern injected molded figures is light years ahead.
Ahhh the good old days with slotted bases and miniatures with no assembly needed.
Happy days!
Great to see you deliver us another great video ❤
Thanks so much, Josh!
So much excellent variety was available with these models, even without kitbashing! I had the honor of assembling and painting this box set back in the '90s, but they're all lost to the warp now. Let me know if you need some arms printed
You had it back in the day! Amazing! And that is such a kind offer, thank you! Should know once I've done more of an audit of the kit bashed/original parts! Thanks again!
I definitely want more Orks (if only I had a budget tho)
Yup, I've been buying a load of lottery tickets recently!
mate you gotta do what i learn and do the focus better , i want to see it ,not be so fuzzy, please the trick i found was not to have so much behind the model :)
Ooh, good tip! Thank you!
