These videos are excellent. As someone who has had a TMD layout built, that's set in the early to mid - 1990's, I can now get some ideas as to what freight loco liveries that I can have on my layout. At the moment, the main locos that I have got are Class 37's & 56's. I have got some class 60's on pre-order too.
What a great video this is, obviously for its quality, information, details (the signalman working away) etc but I really love hearing that 6cyl working hard up the incline at the start, thankyou Sir.
These are an outstanding archive of seemingly long gone activities. I greatly admire the tight, long-focus footage. Also, how it captures the transition of swept-away derelict Industrial landscapes - and slightly bothered sheep. John. Well done indeed.
Amazing footage and there are still some of those older loco's around now even though nsome not working. Some great sounds Mike. Most enjoyable viewing
Thank you for this video. It’s covers the work my Brother did. It may well be him in the first token exchange at the box. The briefest glimpse but the hairstyle makes me wonder if it was him. Sending it on to him to see what he has too say. Thanks again. Bob Mac.
Classic 37 footage from the Welsh coal valleys Mike - brilliant. Congrats to our late friend and you for posting this vid. Can you say what steam locos would commonly be used in pre diesel era? I suppose this scene has now vanished Mike? Thanks for the post. Ken
This is a delighfull peace of footage Mike, thanks for uploading it. I would have assume that the track on these lines would be well maintained and able to cope with the weight of the traffic, but the speeds we see these trains traverse this branch line would possibly be a little over the maximum line seed for the branch ?. Reminds me of the near superluminal speeds the Ebbw Vale steel trains used to travel at, especially empties coming down the branch.
An incredible piece of footage captured by Mike Price. It does not seem like 28 years ago! Thanks for sharing MW👍

Fantastic enjoyed watching that! I didn’t realise there was still coal coming from up there in 96!
Another trip back in time, showing some of our heritage, thanks for sharing Mike

Plenty more where that came from; keep watching
A wonderful record of 37's working the Garw Valley Mike...

Thanks John, I'm just so pleased I kept all my old tapes, not knowing 30 years later we could share them on YT
Ah yes, the distictive sound of a" Slug" modified 37 with the Ruston power unit! 🚂👍

I can make a DVD for you if you wish?
Interesting to see this era in Wales. Thanks Mike.
great vid
Brilliant little film.
Wonderful stuff Mike
Those were the days, just wish there were HD cameras then. At least we kept the original tapes

In 1956 there are images of 9F 2-10-0 plus various GWR 2-8-2 tanks and even 0-6-2-tanks. Only the track to Blaengarw has been lifted
track to blaengarw is still there mike but overgrown , remember me (rob ingram) from barry island VOG society 2007,
Ha ! Just after that super-clag bit at 14 - 15 min the video was interrupted with an ad for a green Volvo car. 😂

No doubt after the Festive Season I'll make time to check the clips from 20+ years ago..............thanks for watching
I meant the 37 ‘ driver. With the coal train.
