Same here. For years I was into Vai, Satch, Yngwie type stuff and got away from the great music that got me into playing in the first place. I still love the great shred type stuff but find myself going back to my roots.
He was a beast but is similar to Jerry Reed. Mostly known as a down home comedic country boy from hew haw just as Jerry was a redneck truck driver from the south (Smokey and the Bandit). Both unassuming and not flashy but when you dig deeper you'll find that they were 2 of the most talented players to ever pick up the instrument.
Roy is only underrated by those that have not heard him.He is well respected in the country music genre, others might be Glenn Campbell or Chet Atkins...I am not a country music fan, but there is a whole other world of awesome players
I mentioned Elliot in the comments in the last video in this series. Maybe he saw my comment? His solo in "I know tonight" is my favorite. The tremelo work inbthat solo is amazing. His rhythm work is awesome too!!
@goneflying140 yeah man!!! I read every comment and try to respond as quickly as possible. Easton is an amazing player! I forgot how much I love his work
Thank you so much for including Rory, Uli, Criss, Frank, Glen, and Rik. How about Ronnie Montrose, Marty Friedman, Jason,Becker, Alvin Lee, Lita Ford, Michael Schenker, and Steve Morse.
Bro... Steve Morse as "underrated" ??? 🤣🤣🤣 He is universally worshiped by musicians and journalist alike. I think he and Steve Howe are tied for the most "Guitarist of the year" awards (3) from Guitar Player Magazine.
Glen Campbell was the real deal, oh yeah, and then some. He was asked to join the Beachboys and turned them down. He was a key member of the famous session group "The Wrecking Crew" based out of LA in the 1960s who played behind everyone from the latest top-ten hit makers to Frank Sinatra. And he carved out his own great career as a songwriter, singer and bandleader, too. Great all-round entertainer.... so great that some folks needed reminding of just how heavy of a guitar cat he was! If there's one thing I wish about Glen C., it is that I wish he'd stepped out even more on his axe - because that guy could absolutely wail. I don't know if he was worried about losing his radio airplay or what, but he could have played even more guitar than he did.
Thank you Sir!!! Criss is my all time favorite! I also love that you gave a shout to Richie Kotzen! Appreciate the shout out! Keep up the great content!!

Glad to see Richie Kotzen here he’s probably my favorite guitarist of all time but another guy no one ever talks about is Michael Gurley of the band Dada. All anyone ever knows about them is the one hit Dizz Knee Land but his playing on all their albums is solid. Great song writer, catchy riffs. He has unique phrasing. Totally underrated guitarist.

Some more guitar players, I'm sorry. Tom Scholz, Chet Atkins, Kerry Livgren, and Buckethead. I know someone mentioned Roy Clark too. Awesome awesome player. My dad played with some of his family around the Baltimore/Washington D.C area back in the day long ago. Again thank you for starting this, so cool !!!

Another great player and one of my all time favorites is Dave Meniketti from Y&T. Not only is he a great metal player, he also nails the blues. In fact, he released a blues album while Y&T was on hiatus for a few years.
Thanks for the suggestion bro! Rik is definitely one of the greats. Dave from Y&T is on my list I think for next weeks video. Any particular solo of his you’d like to see featured?

Does anyone remember a story about Rory Gallagher where he was said to have changed a string mid song without missing a beat? I feel like I read something about that a few years ago and can't find it again. Rory was the best!!! He said he could write a radio hit all day long, he just didn't want to! He always just did his thing, even turned down playing with the Rolling Stones. So many good Rory stories. Favorite album is "Irish Tour '74" Such a gem! Great vid once again, thanks!
Again, our taste aligns. Good on you to mention Uli Jon Roth' and Glenn Campbell. The last 5 on the list are some of my favorites. I heard Campbell for the first time a couple of months ago at the "young" age of 53.

@@sona3486 Goven is amazing, but not quite in the league of virtuosos from the main list, for which if you actually listened to them, it’s obvious there’s distance.
As I'm a life long Savatage fan, thanks for including Criss Oliva. Also Elliot Easton, I was lucky enough to see both Criss and Elliot a few times. Also, you really opened my eyes on how great a guitarist Glen Campbell was.
Glen Campbell was a master. Roy Clark was above and beyond most people tho. But an underrated in rock and not often thought about was Joe Perry from Aerosmith
Great to see Rory get his recognition. Here’s a few out of the box- Bill Nelson (Be Bop Deluxe), Richard Thompson, and how about Paco De Lucía (guitarists know him, but the public doesn’t)
Some from the “new wave” era that weren’t shredders but very unique Johnny Marr-The Smiths John McGeoch-Magazine/Souxie and the banshees/PIL Andy Gill-Gang of Four Glen Tilbrook -Squeeze Adrian Belew -King Crimson Roddy Frame-Aztec Camera Bill Nelson - BeBop Deluxe
Spot on with Rory. But the one time I saw him, he was touring with " Feelin' Alright" Dave Mason. An unsung hero. What a jam session that was at the Music Hall in Boston
I often hear people say Rory was unsung and underappreciated, but to put things in perspective; he sold over 30 million albums. Loads of musicians would love to be that underrated I'm sure. For me he's up there with Beck and Hendrix, pure lightning in a bottle.
Also, you'd be hard pressed to find a finer picker than Danny Gatton was. I had the honor of seeing him perform in DC on many occasions. I'll never forget all the cassette recorders on everyone's tables , recording his shows. He was perfectly fine with it. Guest musicians would pop in from far as New York just to sit in with him. Just amazing and one of Roy Buchanan's equals ( if not a tad better?) Debatable lol
So, caught Elliot Easton filling in for Waddy Wachtel with the Immediate Family, last Saturday night. Talk about a stage full of talent...and Elliot fit right in.
Have you thought about maybe adding Andy Taylor formerly of Duran Duran…his solo work, rod stewart and Robert Palmer albums and not to mention the power station should cement his place on these lists.
My first concert (age of 13, 1979) was AC/DC with the PatTravers Band as the opening act. AC/DC was awesome as expected but i was so blown away by P.T. that over the next few months I bought everything he had released up to that point. I agree with everyone on this list and none of them are underrated by me. All if them are in my current collection and none of them get ignored.
Loved the third installment, anyone remember Zal Cleminson from The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, or Kim Mitchell from a canadian 70's prog band Max Webster?
Hey@@joehansonguitar (57) brother, I played in a band for years with this bassist, he had called my 300 plus album collection a "good starting point" everyone needs that collector in there life. I would be talking something up and he would do the thing"Oh have you ever heard of these guys " Love that about musicians..
Thanks for all three lists! I would humbly add Bill Nelson (Be Bop Delux ) Shawn Lane, Ollie Halsall, Steve Hackett, Elliot Randall, Mike Bloomfield...this list goes on and on.
Loved em all. Thanks for turning me on to a couple of new artists! 😊 But for virtuousity and writing artistry it seems like Bill Nelson from BeBopDeluxe should be included in such a list. P S. Frank told me he loved playing shows with Travers.
Great list and my favorite of the 3 episodes. I've always wondered what it would be like to play an Uli Jon Roth Sky guitar, that would be so cool. Lenny Breau and Colin James would be nice to see make the cut. Another fantastic player that has been growing in popularity in recent years is Phil X. I remember him years back in the local bar scene (Toronto area )and he could really put on a show. Great guitar chops and the boy can sing.
Thank you! I'm really enjoying all the input I'm getting from all the viewers as it's easy for me to forget about so many players over the years. I'm am really digging Phil X also, the guy is a monster
This is a great series, another great list. All mentions. I remember someone asked Roy Clark once how it felt to be the best guitar player, he replied, "idk you'll have to ask Glen Campbell" although Roy is right there with him. Jerry Reed was phenomenal also but, thanks for doing these. It's nice to see all these guys getting some love Rik, Frank, Elliott, Rory, Pat and everyone else 👍
You did it, the last video I commented on Frank Marino and you were all over it, the album Juggernaut is absurdly great. Also seeing Uli Roth 5 years ago checked off a bucket list item, he was just awesome.
Thoroughly enjoying your videos Alvin Lee opened for Sabbath and blew the doors of them, how's about the classically trained who died twice Paul Kossoff , totally agree with Pat Travers his album Black Pearl doesn't have a bad song on it , keep up the good work! Respect
I'm still pissed that Criss Olivia was taken from us. Thank you for recognizing him. Savatage had soooo many cool songs with great hooks and incredible riffs. Streets, Hall of the Mountain King, Gutter Ballet.... Some of the best shit ever recorded. EVER!
I've seen my fait share of great guitarists, but one of my faves putting on a great show was the 80's Billie Idol guitarist Stevie Stevens. There's so many more out there!
I just came across this video. Rik, PT, Rory, Uli, and my all-time favorite, Frank Marino. I need to check out the previous parts of this series as gotta believe Ronnie Montrose, Robin Trower and Buck Dharma gotta be on there somewhere. Good stuff and in my world some of the best players ever! .....and I DID subscribe!
Like I said before Frank Marino is my God for guitar playing. And way back in the day I'm talking way back because I'm old I got to see Savatage and God damn that fucker was tearing it up I saw him at Ryan's Corner in downtown St Paul Minnesota. Michael Schenker Robin Trower Ronnie Montrose Ritchie Blackmore
Marino is definitely a top shelf player. Olivia was as well RIP. Hell, I'm from Florida and never got to see Savatage. Schenker, Trower Montrose, and Blackmore will be in future videos! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Good call on Glen Campbell. As I now play a lot of bluegrass, I've gotten an appreciation of what a genius he was. Disagree on Neil Giraldo (meh) not so great. Of course, Elliot Easton. And yes, Frankie Marino and Rory are BEASTS!!! Great list bro!
A couple of personal opinions… 1- Elliot Easton’s second solo on “You’re All I’ve Got Tonight” is one of the greatest ever recorded, and 2- had Chris Oliva not tragically died, he would have been up there with George Lynch as one of those players who not many people outside of the genre knew of but all the other musicians in the building would stop and watch when he played. And a bit of trivia… Pat Travers was in a supergroup in the late 1990’s with Derek St Holmes, Jeff Carlisi, Benjamin Orr (RIP Ben… you’re missed) and Liberty DeVito called Big People and Pat was the utility guy… keyboards? Check. Ripping guitar solo? Check. Great backing vocals? Check. I wish they had accomplished more before Ben sadly passed.
Bro! Excellent intel you’ve given! I was just telling one of my students that Easton played the perfect notes and rhythms in every solo. I also agree about Oliva. Being a Floridian, I had the opportunity to see Savatage in the early 90’s and chose to hook up with a girl that night instead 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
I’m a transplant living in the Tampa area, so I dig the homecoming TSO gets when they come to town. My two favorites are George Lynch and Elliot Easton, so it made me smile when I heard George say the best piece of guitar advice he ever got was from Elliot. And speaking of Pat Travers, he’s playing on the Monsters of Rock Cruise that I’m going on next week. Awesome!
One of the biggest reasons, I think, why Rory was so great was that he started out on the acoustic when he was a kid listening to all the old Delta guys, and his playing had that VOCAL quality the classic blues had. You could feel a direct line going all the way back in history when he played.
Kim Mitchell... Guitarist for Max Webster, a prog rock band from Canada often described as "baby Rush" and of course all of his solo stuff. Killer songwriter and singer all while ripping it up on guitar. The clean riff in Go For A Soda is amazing!
You hit on one of the two "Rick's" on my list of underrated players: Emmett and Derringer. Listen to Edgar Winter's Roadwork. Derringer's playing is a clinic on great rock, funk, R&B and blues playing. What I really like about both these guys is that they're great guitar players, singers, performers and songwriters.
@@jeffdoyle4703 yeah man I remember! I don't look at it as bugging me but rather helping me to remember all the great players that may not be getting as much love as they deserve these days. Johnny Winter is in next weeks video
I enjoy your content bro. More please. I always enjoy having these type of discussions amongst friends. On that note have you considered Christopher Cross?
Thanks man, I really appreciate your comments! Most people have encouraging comments such as you and I love all the input everyone has given me on this topic. Occasionally I’ll get the hyper critical person but overall it’s awesome engaging with everyone who has a passion for music. Cross should already be on my list for a future episode!
Great list.😁 Suggestions: Keith Scott, 40 yrs with Bryan Adams. Plays in service of the song, great melodies. Bill Nelson, Be Bop Deluxe guitarist. Not well known today, but a great player with a killer tone. Ian Crichton from Saga, great counterpoint single line player with the keyboardist in the band. Alan Murphy (R.I.P) guitarist in Level 42. Picture Holdsworth only in a pop context. Passed away way to early. Andy Partridge/Dave Gregory from XTC...Books Are Burning outro solos, killer. Brian Macleod. (R.I.P) Headpins/Chilliwack . Great player with killer solos and a unique tone, especially for the times (80's). Not to mention, songwriter, drummer, keyboardist, sound engineer, figure skater, pilot.
I had tickets in 82 to a Rock Super Bowl in Orlando. The opening bands were Bryan Adams, then UFO and the band I wanted to see Ozzy with Randy Rhodes. Then the headliner was foreigner. I really only cared about seeing Randy play. Unfortunately he was killed and Pat Travers took Ozzy’s place on 2 days notice. He definitely jammed but I was very distraught but I take my hat off to him and his band. Another criminally underrated guitarist is Ronnie Garvin from the Florida band Stranger. I probably saw that band 20-30 times and it was always a real fun time. They really packed any place they played.
I’ve seen 2 of your videos and one guy I haven’t seen yet is Buck Dharma. That first Pat Travers solo reminded me of the beginning of Iron Maiden’s “Moonchild.” What I like even more than Elliott’s solo in “My Best Friend’s Girl” is his use of the riff from The Beatles’ “I Will.”
I was lucky enough to be at the one day 'Heavy Metal Holocaust' in the UK in 1981. The lineup included Ozzy Osbourne, Triumph, Mahogany Rush, Riot and headlined by Motorhead. That's at least 3 world class, guitarists in one day: Randy Rhoads, Frank Marino and Rick Emmett. A great unforgettable day. 🎸🎸🎸
@@joehansonguitar Ovation supplied all the guitars and basses for The Partridge Family. You can see David Cassidy playing one of those wicked looking Breadwinners! Keep that in your useless information file. 🤣
Another prime example is Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys. Dick Dale was one of his early influences of the Surf Rock era. In some of the early stuff the Beach Boys did, he emulated that style quite well. Also like his older brother Brian, he could hit those high falsetto notes quite well too. Just an all around talented musician who is sorely missed by millions. By the way Carl, may God rest your soul! 😊
Maybe its just because Santana and Journey are such rock staples that Neal Schon just sort of gets lost in the wash, but his tone, technique and taste is vastly underrated to me.
@@joehansonguitar His playing on HSAS's version of Whtiter Shade Of Pale is something I imagined being on that song before they ever recorded it. I'm glad he got to it before I did because he is a way better guitar player than me. One of my other dreams is recording some Mountain songs that don't sound terrible from a sonic angle. I can hear how good Leslie West should sound. Sort of like the sound quality difference between Hendrix and SRV on Voodoo Chile.
Unfortunately, most of these are only available to hear in recordings and memories. Marino, a fantastic player, is retired. Kotzen and Easton still play live, and Giraldo is touring with Benatar right now. Catch them while you still can! I've regretted missing Rory Gallagher for, lo these many years, now. Oh--had to edit because I missed Roth; he's still out there. Good luck finding a live show if you live in the US.
...is it a surprise that Giraldo is touring with Pat Benatar? (see quote below) ''Neil Thomas Giraldo (born December 29, 1955) is an American musician, record producer, arranger, and songwriter best known as the musical partner of Pat Benatar since 1979 - and spouse since 1982.''
Rik Emmett, Rory Gallagher and Frank Marino those guys played a roll at one point or another in my guitar playing.
Same here. For years I was into Vai, Satch, Yngwie type stuff and got away from the great music that got me into playing in the first place. I still love the great shred type stuff but find myself going back to my roots.
I once dated a Tatoo'd Lady.....lol Great tune 👍🏻

Guthrie Govan as a “notable mention”?!?!? 😂😂😂 Dude… just wowwwwwww
@@sona3486
Goven is amazing, but not quite in the league of virtuosos from the main list, for which if you actually listened to them, it’s obvious there’s distance.
I’ve got most of these cats on my list for future videos! Did a video a while back with Holdsworth and Govan but have many more to go!! 🎸🔥
Greg Howe with Darwin ‘In This Zoo’ is amazing. ☮️🍀
As I'm a life long Savatage fan, thanks for including Criss Oliva. Also Elliot Easton, I was lucky enough to see both Criss and Elliot a few times. Also, you really opened my eyes on how great a guitarist Glen Campbell was.
Excellent!!! 🎸🔥
Glen Campbell was a master. Roy Clark was above and beyond most people tho. But an underrated in rock and not often thought about was Joe Perry from Aerosmith
Joe is phenomenal! So is Brad!! Campbell and Clark were monsters!!! 🎸🔥
Clark is in next weeks video
Superb presentation my friend.
Awesome! Thanks!
Great to see Rory get his recognition. Here’s a few out of the box- Bill Nelson (Be Bop Deluxe), Richard Thompson, and how about Paco De Lucía (guitarists know him, but the public doesn’t)
Bill Nelson, cool player. ✌️😁👍
I agree about Bill, Richard and Paco. I'm little by little going to cover them in upcoming videos.
Some from the “new wave” era that weren’t shredders but very unique
Johnny Marr-The Smiths
John McGeoch-Magazine/Souxie and the banshees/PIL
Andy Gill-Gang of Four
Glen Tilbrook -Squeeze
Adrian Belew -King Crimson
Roddy Frame-Aztec Camera
Bill Nelson - BeBop Deluxe
I’ve got these cats on my list! 🎸
Spot on with Rory. But the one time I saw him, he was touring with " Feelin' Alright" Dave Mason. An unsung hero. What a jam session that was at the Music Hall in Boston
I bet that was killer!
Rory was Rolling Stones top 10, # 1 guitarist in the early 70s..
don’t forget about Roy Clark..
great content my fellow Floridian!!🇺🇸👍
Nice!!! Florida rules!!
I often hear people say Rory was unsung and underappreciated, but to put things in perspective; he sold over 30 million albums. Loads of musicians would love to be that underrated I'm sure. For me he's up there with Beck and Hendrix, pure lightning in a bottle.
I agree. I just find that not as many younger players realize or have even really heard how amazing he was!
Richie kotzen. A giant among giants🤯
Crazy talented!
His later style reminds me of Jeff Beck. He’s amazing.
I agree, Danny was a monster!!
So, caught Elliot Easton filling in for Waddy Wachtel with the Immediate Family, last Saturday night. Talk about a stage full of talent...and Elliot fit right in.
That’s so awesome!!!
Both of those dudes are awesome
This video is fantastic and all those guys are killers !!!
Awesome! Thanks!
Have you thought about maybe adding Andy Taylor formerly of Duran Duran…his solo work, rod stewart and Robert Palmer albums and not to mention the power station should cement his place on these lists.
Definitely! I have always dug his material with everyone he played with
My first concert (age of 13, 1979) was AC/DC with the PatTravers Band as the opening act. AC/DC was awesome as expected but i was so blown away by P.T. that over the next few months I bought everything he had released up to that point. I agree with everyone on this list and none of them are underrated by me. All if them are in my current collection and none of them get ignored.
That’s so cool. Honestly I’m trying to make sure that some younger people hear and see these people. Just trying to keep legacies alive. 🤘🏻
I love this show and the way you do it. So honest and refreshing.
Thanks brother!!!
Loved the third installment, anyone remember Zal Cleminson from The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, or Kim Mitchell from a canadian 70's prog band Max Webster?
I don’t as I might be too young (50) but I’m looking them up now. Thanks for recommending!!
Hey@@joehansonguitar (57) brother, I played in a band for years with this bassist, he had called my 300 plus album collection a "good starting point" everyone needs that collector in there life. I would be talking something up and he would do the thing"Oh have you ever heard of these guys " Love that about musicians..
Uli, Emmet and Marino I've seen live. Love your videos keep it going.
Since Triumph was my 1st concert 1981 Santa Monica civic I'll say Emmet . Uli is my all time favorite though.
Really appreciate it!!!
Thanks for all three lists! I would humbly add Bill Nelson (Be Bop Delux ) Shawn Lane, Ollie Halsall, Steve Hackett, Elliot Randall, Mike Bloomfield...this list goes on and on.
Yeah!! Those guys are on my list for future episodes!
Terry Kath , Tommy Bolin , Toy Caldwell , Adrian Vandenberg , Charlie Daniels
Heck yeah!!!
I still love ALL of the Vandenberg albums. So good
Mr. Kotzen is in a league of its own 🤟 and he also changed to fingerstyle picking over the time, and that is amazing!
It’s crazy to think about that radical of a change. I mean, I’d have a hard time making a switch like that
@@joehansonguitar for sure, after playing with a pick for 20+ years, it would be a really challenging 😅
Loved em all. Thanks for turning me on to a couple of new artists! 😊 But for virtuousity and writing artistry it seems like Bill Nelson from BeBopDeluxe should be included in such a list.
P S.
Frank told me he loved playing shows with Travers.
Yeah man! Nelson is in another video from this series 🎸✌🏻
Kotzen is such a badass all around
Totally!!!
Jimmy Herring- Aquarium Rescue Unit. So underatted!
I’m on it!
Awesome! Thanks for the wonderful comments!
You did it, the last video I commented on Frank Marino and you were all over it, the album Juggernaut is absurdly great. Also seeing Uli Roth 5 years ago checked off a bucket list item, he was just awesome.
Heck yeah man!! Thanks for checking back in with me and the videos!
Thoroughly enjoying your videos Alvin Lee opened for Sabbath and blew the doors of them, how's about the classically trained who died twice Paul Kossoff , totally agree with Pat Travers his album Black Pearl doesn't have a bad song on it , keep up the good work! Respect
Thanks man, I’m putting Alvin in next weeks video right now.
And yeah, Black Pearl is an awesome album!
I'm still pissed that Criss Olivia was taken from us. Thank you for recognizing him. Savatage had soooo many cool songs with great hooks and incredible riffs. Streets, Hall of the Mountain King, Gutter Ballet.... Some of the best shit ever recorded. EVER!
Very sad and maddening.
Dickie Betts. Because everibody talks about Duane Allmann.
Betts was the shredder!!!
I've seen my fait share of great guitarists, but one of my faves putting on a great show was the 80's Billie Idol guitarist Stevie Stevens. There's so many more out there!
Steve is phenomenal!!
Trower and Montrose are in upcoming episodes
Great stuff Joe, thanks
Thanks!! 🤘🏻🎸🤘🏻
This hit the spot!
Awesome!!
Amazing list and some of these guys are truly the founding fathers of the guitar gods
Definitely!
great list Brother
Thanks bro!!!🎸🔥🤘🏻
Roger Hodgson from Supertramp as well.
Yeah man!!
Kotzen's work with Adrian Smith is fantastic!
Such great musicians!
Thanks for putting Neil Geraldo in there! What a tasty player he is!! Btw do you hear Bark at the Moon in that first Rory G solo?
Epic!!!
Like I said before Frank Marino is my God for guitar playing. And way back in the day I'm talking way back because I'm old I got to see Savatage and God damn that fucker was tearing it up I saw him at Ryan's Corner in downtown St Paul Minnesota. Michael Schenker
Robin Trower
Ronnie Montrose
Ritchie Blackmore
Marino is definitely a top shelf player. Olivia was as well RIP. Hell, I'm from Florida and never got to see Savatage.
Schenker, Trower Montrose, and Blackmore will be in future videos!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great video ! There were a few here I never heard before. Do you think Rick Derringer deserves a mention ?
He definitely deserves a mention and is already on my list!
Thanks for your comment!
IMO Brian Setzer and Elliot Easton are both monster players
Totally!!
Your opinion is spot on, dude
Going back to the original premise of younger viewers not knowing about them - Jan Akkerman - Robben Ford - Larry Carlton - Johnny Winter
Yeah man! Johnny is in next weeks episode and the others shortly after!
Awesome!
I want to do one of those cruises!
I miss Criss and Ben. Both were so awesome
One of the biggest reasons, I think, why Rory was so great was that he started out on the acoustic when he was a kid listening to all the old Delta guys, and his playing had that VOCAL quality the classic blues had. You could feel a direct line going all the way back in history when he played.
Absolutely, he had it figured out
Kim Mitchell... Guitarist for Max Webster, a prog rock band from Canada often described as "baby Rush" and of course all of his solo stuff. Killer songwriter and singer all while ripping it up on guitar. The clean riff in Go For A Soda is amazing!
Awesome!!
Yeah man! Phenomenal stuff!!
I thank you, and Rory thanks you!!
Nice!! 🤘🏻
I bugged you earlier about Rory and Johnny Winter.! Thanks again!@@joehansonguitar
@@jeffdoyle4703 yeah man I remember! I don't look at it as bugging me but rather helping me to remember all the great players that may not be getting as much love as they deserve these days. Johnny Winter is in next weeks video
@@joehansonguitar Excellent choice! Best slide guitarist ever.
@@joehansonguitar Just allow me to add that Johnny's performance of Meantown Blues at Woodstock is unparalleled.
Enjoy your videos. Rock on ✌️😁👍
Thank you!!
Great list.😁
Suggestions:
Keith Scott, 40 yrs with Bryan Adams.
Awesome suggestions!! Thanks for your input!!!
That’s very cool how Pat was able to do that
I’ve seen 2 of your videos and one guy I haven’t seen yet is Buck Dharma.
That first Pat Travers solo reminded me of the beginning of Iron Maiden’s “Moonchild.”
What I like even more than Elliott’s solo in “My Best Friend’s Girl” is his use of the riff from The Beatles’ “I Will.”
Check out video 2 from this series!!

Thanks man!!!
@@joehansonguitar your welcome my broski yeehaw yo!Learned so many new guitarists because of you yeehaw yo!
Daaaaaamn! So awesome
Sorry I missed that. Thanks for hitting me up. Pat thrall with Pat Travers. Good days also thanks for the reply.
Awesome! I try to respond to everyone!
Glen is playing an Ovation. A lot of younger folk don't know Ovation used to make electric guitars.
Yep, not very well known to some
@@joehansonguitar Ovation supplied all the guitars and basses for The Partridge Family. You can see David Cassidy playing one of those wicked looking Breadwinners! Keep that in your useless information file. 🤣
@bossfan49 so cool!
Breadwinner, preacher and deacon. And especially their acoustic electric guitars.
So awesome!
Boom Boom , what is it? OUT GO THE LIGHTS!!!
Maybe its just because Santana and Journey are such rock staples that Neal Schon just sort of gets lost in the wash, but his tone, technique and taste is vastly underrated to me.
I agree and I should feature him in an upcoming episode!
@@joehansonguitar Nice to know I'm not alone. Great videos, by the way.
Thanks!! I’ve learned how to play enough of his material to know how awesome it is! 🎸🔥
Glad to see my favorite guitarist of all time, Richie Kotzen.
He’s so awesome
@@joehansonguitar -so true
Thank you!
😎🤘🏻🎸🔥
Rik Emmett is my all-time favorite guitar player. Ridiculous talent.
Absolutely!!
I hear you. Hopefully I can catch Winery Dogs in my neck of the woods soon. Sad about Marino’s health issues.
...is it a surprise that Giraldo is touring with Pat Benatar? (see quote below)
''Neil Thomas Giraldo (born December 29, 1955) is an American musician, record producer, arranger, and songwriter best known as the musical partner of Pat Benatar since 1979 - and spouse since 1982.''
