    I am so happy to have found your page because this is exactly what brought me to you tube.
    I had a weight stall for a week now and I was feeling like maybe Saxenda has stopped working (3months on it) because my cravings for sugary fruits like oranges 🍊 and apples, I can eat 2-3 a day has started creeping back.
    Thank you so much. This is truly helpful to me.

I can eat way more and cravings are back. I tried going up to 2 mg and it didn’t work. It’s so upsetting because it worked so well, had me eating healthy and enjoying it and not feeling deprived , and all the sudden it just seems to have stopped working and I’m very worried as weight has always been an issue for my adult life. I have been trying to quit drinking for years. I used it to self medicate, which obviously made everything worse. Just taking a sip of alcohol on this medication made me nauseated. I am so happy that i haven't drank in 8 days (besides those couple of sips). I feel like a new person. Can you explain why this is possible? It's so wonderful plus i have lost 4 lbs.

    I enjoy your channel! One question… eating protein throughout the day is going to spike insulin each time… especially if I am insulin resistant. I eat OMAD with good protein to avoid those spikes. Would you agree that eating protein throughout the day does spike insulin?
    Thank you!!😊

    • @theofficialdrdan
      @theofficialdrdan  Год назад +10

      You are asking the wrong question. Any food you eat is going to cause a rise in insulin - protein can stimulate a greater insulin response. Similarly a large meal, ie. via OMAD will cause a greater spike than a smaller meal. Insulin isn't the problem though. Eating too many calories is the problem. If anything, OMAD will worsen insulin resistance - we have data showing that more muscle vs. fat is lost in those that follow OMAD vs. smaller more frequent protein meals through the day. Less muscle = greater insulin resistance. Your muscles need pulses of protein through the day to maintain muscle protein synthesis.

    Wow, that’s an incredible video. I have to amid that I ignored my food choices until now (week 5) because I just felt so “high” not wanting/needing/thinking about food that I then was not choosing nutritious food the one time I was eating that day. And at about week 3 I started feeling the dosage was to low as the cravings came back at the end of each week (the wall you mentioned was crumbling 😅) and it slowly started to binging again. I will now focus on getting in enough protein and fiber bc I really want this to work and I realised I was just too lazy and ignorant thinking it would work without me putting in the work 🙈 I hope to be on track again soon and I am extremely grateful finding your platform and this video as it was extremely eye opening and exactly what I needed to hear ❤

      easy peasy: 3 egg omelet is 21 grams protein. can of tuna, salmon or sardines, about 25 to 29 grams, glass of milk, 8 grams (but 14 grams carbs..) lean meats, not processed. make hamburger patties, eat without bun, but with knife and fork, topped with fried onions and mushrooms. protein shakes, I dont like the powders, but enjoy the premade liquid ones from Costco.

    My biggest issue since gaining weight has been NOT EATING ENOUGH food as I have zero appetite from the moment I wake up until super late at night when my bad cravings start, and of course they do…I haven’t eaten in 11 + HOURS🤦🏻‍♀️ Can someone please give me tips on how I can boost my appetite during the day? My doc prescribed Wegovy but not sure if my insurance will cover it. For the first time in years I went grocery shopping and got tons of produce, grains, I love quinoa, and my proteins etc. Basically there’s tons of good, healthy foods filled in my fridge and I swear I’m having the hardest time eating it, and it’s good yummy food. I used to LOVE FOOD!! I’ll be 45 this month and I have hypothyroidism so I know it’ll be extra challenging for me to lose the 50-70lbs I need gone. Any tips on how to eat during the day when you have ZERO APPETITE would be greatly appreciated 🤔 Thank you!!! 🙏 😊

    • @theofficialdrdan
      @theofficialdrdan  11 месяцев назад +2

      You have to practice. Start with one small snack during the day and get really good at having that then add more in. Your body will get used to it and generally hunger etc comes back. Set a timer. When it goes off have the small snack. As it gets easier make the snack bigger or add another snack else where. It will take a few weeks but it will get easier.

      What happens any other time you have stopped a diet or weight-loss program? These drugs don't change or 'cure' the biological drivers of appetite and weight gain. So once you stop the drug for 85% of people the weight comes back on. Obesity is a chronic disease not a behavior. Most need the drug life long to manage their weight. Just like people need BP or diabetes meds life long.

    • @theofficialdrdan
      @theofficialdrdan  Год назад +2

      In healthy kidneys, we have no concern. Studies have been done with 2.8g/kg and show no harm. As for reference for someone that is 90kg or ~200lbs that is 250+g of protein per day. 99% of people aren't getting anywhere near that. Most struggle to consistently eat 100g per day.
      We also have evidence that is showing in kidney disease higher protein diets may actually be beneficial vs the low protein diet recommends. It's currently up for debate as per new research.

    Hello, wondering if you could look at the dailymail article named "Scientists raise alarm over potentially deadly side effect from celeb-favorite fat-loss drug Wegovy and Ozempic that may have been MISSED in trials "-- it refers to a study (or review) from China as well as some positive findings in patients with "SBS". Since the observation of it having an (in their case, positive) effect of SBS patients, would it not then be reasonable to infer that the animal studies of intestine extension/enlargement (and increased risk of blockage from inflexibility etc) can be reasonably expected to occur in humans as well? I am wonder how clinically relevant this risk increase is in such case.

    Mounjaro makes you feel full - that helps you eat less. But that is "the carrot" of it's weight loss affect. I quickly found out that if my primal brain overrides that - and I eat more - I get very sick. That is the "the stick" affect . That fear of having horrendous Acid Reflux (like upchucking in your mouth bad), burping for two days straight, nausea, etc. That fear is certainly a motivator to keep eating less. "Bad primal brain ! Down ! Down! " ( WHACK! ). That said I am working on protein and fiber supplements now. Please note I am taking this for A1C (it is amazing) and weight loss is just a nice bonus.

    How about a discussion on this Dr. Dan?
    My girlfriend takes this drug for weight loss (not diabetic). I am beginning to absolutely loathe this drug and all the discussion about it. It has changed my friend and her hyper-focus on weight loss is bugging me to distraction. I liked her much better before she started taking this medicine. I am ready to divorce our almost 20-year friendship over this. This weight loss drug is unnatural and probably unhealthy in the long run. This drug makes her boring, more ocd, and super uninteresting. Where's the joy when you can't even go out socially without the subject being "I'm not hungry, EVER....." It is not worth it to me to listen to her talk about not being hungry and what little she eats. I guess for some people not eating is a novelty but not everyone cares that you only ate 2 egg whites for breakfast, 2 tablespoons of cottage cheese, and half of a banana for lunch. See, I am going crazy now. Please, there is more to life than living up to your neck in lukewarm water.
    Plus, I wager she will eventually regain all the weight but in the meantime, her personality change is driving me away. We have no relationship, I only exist as a sounding board.
