Good interview. Re your question about "Take Me Down" - It helps to know some history, to make sense of that. Here ya go: The great bluesman Robert Johnson told the crossroads story more than once. He didn't invent it himself but as to who _did,_ it's impossible to say. The tale comes from West African polytheism...the same source for voodoo, santería, etc. In their belief, the spirit world coexists with the physical one, & the boundary between worlds is thin in certain places. One of those places is where two roads cross each other. If you want to summon a spirit then you have to go to the right place, as well as do other things. The slaves bought & imported into the US believed thus; with their time under their southern Protestant masters/owners, they learned Christianity & mixed that with what they remembered of the old African faith.
