A little food for thought for those of us not at Jason's level. If you're in the market for a progression kite you may want to buy the Orbit over the Nitro. The Orbit has the most perfect and direct feeling on the bar and I always know where the kite is. In contrast, on the Nitro I find the bar pressure too light, especially during the catch after a loop. I often find myself looking up at the kite to time downloops and know it's positioning compared to the orbit where it's all feel and i don't need to look at the kite at all. For someone like myself who's just getting back into loops after a solid decade away from the sport it's a major difference for my progression. On the other hand, once you have the timing and muscle memory dialed in for your tricks I imagine the nitro to be a sweet ride.
What models/years of each kite are talking about? It’s confusing that such a small difference in bar pressure between kites is so noticeable that you might lose track of one kite so much more than the other…
@jasonofmontreal Yeah it's weird, most people say they're so similar, but I personally can't get over the bar feel on the Nitro. I'm comparing the 2023 9m models flown on the north bar for both kites. I've been switching back and forth between them a lot, hoping the Nitro will click, but I really dislike the weightless feeling on the bar after the loop when it's climbing for the catch or when I'm inverted in general. Could just be me 🤷
@@pattyj886I mentioned in the '23 models comparison that I found the nitro more firsky and less stable than the orbit, but as per that review I preferred its speed under 30 knots. The newer model is a lot better balanced. You might prefer the 2024 orbit of them all, its a bit slower than the 23's

Great work man,as always! I was wondering if you could include the Core nexus 3 to one of your videos, I know it's not branded as a big air kite, but I'll love your insights on it 👍
I’ve only ever ridden them twice, and they are certainly easier for loop progression then the XR’s, but I still found them kind of heavy on the bar for a 3 strut. They’re a decent all around kite for progression in every discipline so if you like core specifically they’re probably the easier of their range for overall improvement on
Another great review! Looking forward to your Harlem force review. I’m hoping you would talk about it’s bar pressure while pulling the loops. I read in another YT review that it has very comfortable and low bar pressure while pulling the loops at least when medium powered. I just started pulling tiny loops (
Without knowing more about your ability it’s a bit tricky to comment on a huge variety of things you could be doing wrong. There’s always going to be a lot of pressure on the bar from looping because you’re breaking the kite through the power zone of course. You’re doing the right thing practicing with baby loops for now until you get used to the pull, just keep at it and make sure you’re progressing you heli loops until you’ve got them on lock before you go higher
Hey Jason! Great review as always. I guess you will have to review the new Ozone Vortex Ultra-X (especially VS Evo Dlab, since it really looks similar)
Damn great video again as always, thank you! The scenery from the shots with the Evo were magic, was it at another spot? Just that sunshine and waves poeeeh 😍 would be great to see some nature shots from your local spot, the mountains in the back look wonderfull!
Really loving your reviews. Could you maybe, if you find the time, make a video regarding jumping heights and loops sizes. In detail about what indicators you are using while being pulled up to get a good radius in your loop so that the following heliloop will not leave you hanging a couple of meters above the water or drop you unsafe. I personally feel unsure on when to size up my loop radius and end up in situations that after the heliloop I´m still hanging way above the water. Too low for another heliloop and thus losing my stability and crash/buttcheck.
I think understand what you are saying… Try sending the kite off to side as it ascends after the loop so that you get a bit more lift on you first heli loop. This we’ll also slow you down. If after the first heli loop you are still in the sure, sheet out for a moment to make sure the kite is up above you, and pull down the bar, likely into a down loop in the direction you are going
Hi Jason, Nice to see you got a harlem force, it could be next big thing. On the lines, I ride the normal core bar on 24m lines and 22m on the pro with the fancy lines, it makes a difference. Would you recommend the Evo DLab or anything else? Thank you 🙏
The Evo dlab will be as far as I know your best bet, the crazy low end and lift being the key factors… otherwise in lighter winds I like 3 strut all the way
Great review, thanks! Last year I bought 3 brand new 2023 Cabrinha kites, 8m Nitro, 10m MotoX and 13m Contra for the lightwind sessions. I really loved the feel of these kites (and absolutely love the bar), however, 2 out of 3 kites had valve issues within 3 uses. Apparently I heard the majority of 2023 Cabrinha kites came back with valve issues . What are your experiences with this in 2024? Do you know if this improved? I am hesitating to stay with Cabrinha or switch to another brand because of this and the lousy aftercare.
Unfortunately, or fortunately I suppose I’ve not had any issues like this. I’ve had the nitro 2 out for about 5-6 sessions now and it’s still in great shape.

@@rhum1switchkite112When I tested the supermodel I used the 10m size and found it pretty good for loops, but I was riding in around 25 knots. The kites I mentioned should make it a bit easier, but not dramatically given how light the conditions you are talking about are, except perhaps the Dlab that will help you also jump higher
Hi Jason, I'm just starting my loop journey. I currently have a quiver of xr7s which I love as they're great handling gusty conditions and durability its been amazing however what's your opinion, should I get an orbit or a nitro or simply stick and learn how to loop on xrs?
I reviewed my xr7’s in the first video I made. If you have a 7 or 8m you can learn to loop on those, they’re just not as easy to as other kites. If you are really used to them that will help you out a lot though. You can learn to loop on any 7m or 8m kite these days pretty much
Hi Jason, how is it with Low-End of the Nitro Apex. I own now 12m + 9m XR7 and thinking to step over to something quicker but with similar boost and low end. Thanks
I’ve only tried the 9m in over 25 knots I’m afraid. It won’t boost as well as an XR, but an Evo slab has way better low end and boosts better than xr7 so I’d splash on that (I used to have xr7’s)
As I mentioned in the video, this version is very similar to the orbits, but closer in performance to the orbit pro, but with stability and ease of use similar to the standard from what experience I’ve had thus far.
Thanks a lot! @@jasonofmontreal Was just curious as you mentioned "Alula version" and Apex is somewhat claimed to be a new material. Hence wasn't sure if you're referring to Apex :)
@@gehret_alex I believe the apex material is still a type of dakron, like North has for their Orbit Pro, or Duotone's SLS material. I am by no means an expert in materials though.
For me the nitro 2 was better than the ‘24 orbit… but I didn’t ride them back to back so perhaps it’s closer than I felt on the days I tested the nitro
I second this request! MacKite put out a video comparing Hypermodel to Evo Dlab and from my recollection said that Hypermodel is a better big air kite. Would love to see what a skilled big air rider thinks
The real issue if the nitro is Cabrinha manufacturing… it’s just bad. I had to replace 2 of 4 cabrinha kite and bar had issue with lower front lines and grip, friends told me that cabrinha has manufacturing issue but i didn’t listen to them…. Even the nitro has issue: after few hours many nitro pulls more on one side and main valve can be bad glued… pro of cabrinha words
@@jasonofmontreal I don’t say that everyone has issue but I’ve seen so many cabrinha have issue that is pure luck… and personally I had to wait a month or two for every replacement, I had no problem bc I had other kites but if these had been my only kites I couldn’t kite for long time
@@giorgio4660 this seems to be happening often with a number brands, the new materials seem to be making it harder and harder to manufacture them with consistency

@@jasonofmontreal But Evo Dlab is too quick and costs a fortune so I cannot afford it 😐
@@janstibor5952 fair enough
I would like to hear more about, how the nitro compare with the standard orbit 24?
As I mentioned in the video, this version is very similar to the orbits, but closer in performance to the orbit pro, but with stability and ease of use similar to the standard from what experience I’ve had thus far.
do you still recommend the '23 or '24 standard Orbit for a more budget-friendly kiteloop progression?
Yes, both are excellent. I learned to loop on a 2018 Evo that moved slower around the loop than a modern 11m orbit 😂
Hi Jason, could you make a comparison with the slingshot code?
Hopefully I can get hold of one later in the year.
❤
Thanks
nice spot! where is it?
most of this was filmed in Auckland, New Zealand, at a spot called Muriwai
@@jasonofmontrealThank you for the message and the great content. Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭!

Navigator pro bar is out with sk99 lines. Review ?
Haven't even seen a release video, must be from Kitemana jumping the release once again eh 😂
sick
Thanks stas
wanna see a Core GTS review
I'm trying to do a Core Pace review, we don't have Core in New Zealand so it's really hard to get hold of them
I'd like to see a video about dice sls
They don’t tend to be used for big air much these days, and we don’t have duotone in Auckland, so it might be tough unfortunately
Hey ! plz post you woo comparution with surfr app ! I want to ses your pov on that
Sweet as
Is this the Nitro Apex 2024? :-) Was wondering as I haven't seen a non-apex version so far
This is nitro apex version, I’m not sure there is another 24 version
Thanks a lot! @@jasonofmontreal Was just curious as you mentioned "Alula version" and Apex is somewhat claimed to be a new material. Hence wasn't sure if you're referring to Apex :)
@@gehret_alex I believe the apex material is still a type of dakron, like North has for their Orbit Pro, or Duotone's SLS material. I am by no means an expert in materials though.
Ia nitro better than normal orbit 2024? 🤔
For me the nitro 2 was better than the ‘24 orbit… but I didn’t ride them back to back so perhaps it’s closer than I felt on the days I tested the nitro
Where is this kiting location?
Most of it was filmed in New Zealand, there are a few shots riding into the sunset in Langabaan (South Africa)
reedin htf and hayper modle vs evodlab
Hard to get hold of those down here but working on it
I second this request! MacKite put out a video comparing Hypermodel to Evo Dlab and from my recollection said that Hypermodel is a better big air kite. Would love to see what a skilled big air rider thinks
Woo vs surfr please
right on
The real issue if the nitro is Cabrinha manufacturing… it’s just bad.
I’ll be riding this a lot more this season so I will keep an eye out for that, as I’ve not experienced in the brief testing time I’ve had on them
@@jasonofmontreal I don’t say that everyone has issue but I’ve seen so many cabrinha have issue that is pure luck… and personally I had to wait a month or two for every replacement, I had no problem bc I had other kites but if these had been my only kites I couldn’t kite for long time
@@giorgio4660 this seems to be happening often with a number brands, the new materials seem to be making it harder and harder to manufacture them with consistency
@@jasonofmontreal …mine were 2022 so old materials… that could be the issue for the nitro so maybe with the new bridles they solved this issue
Yes please do a woo vs sufr the more reviews we have available the better for making decisions on where to put our money
