Bought our GN Jan 23 1988, had 12 miles on it! Drove it from Johnson City Tn(They had 44 GNs then) to Waynesboro VA! Averaged 28 mpg alternating engine rpms! Car still runs and drives like new! Put a 3.73 in rear, 2 1/2 inch with flowmasters! ADS superchip and now has a TA66 turbo with green stripe injectors! Also own my first car-'67 SS350 Camaro 4 speed 4.11 posi! Still drive both cars every week! Also own '68 Mercury Cougar 428 cobra jet with C6 and nine inch 3.51 posi! Cougar is original GT with ram air! I love the old school cars, easy to work on and maintain!
I personally have owned these turbo regals since I was 17 years old and have made them my life-blood. My first was a 1979 Regal Sport Coupe and I was hooked, even with a quadrajet attached to a plenum. My next was a 1981 with basically the same motor. After that I picked up a 1984 fuel injected T-type which was unremarkable. My 79 felt quicker, especially squaking the rear tires through 3rd gear ... My last was a 1987 GN with T-tops and I knew why I liked this platform when I was 17. Any car guy knows the VIN like it's their child. I know mine.
Kirban is definitely the go to guy when it comes to hard to find restoration parts and parts in general! I am lucky to have him within driving distance.
Thank you!! I used to go to Kirban GTO & G N showes. Back in the day!! It was so nice to finally see the great man Mr. Kirban himself I'm sorry I sold mine....................
Thanks for this Steve...been a fan and customer of Dennis' for many years. Bought my 2nd GN from Dennis...Great deal and I owned it for about 14 years.
What a awesome history of your life history. Owned an 87 GN bought new sold it 2 years later to a couple that wanted a his and hers they were from Halifax, Nova Scotia. They still have in showroom condition. Loved the car would love to own a GNX with 2 digits on the odometer.
It's something how we all have fascinating stories and memories related to the Turbo Buick's. In 1987 late one evening, i stood in a Buick dealer lot after they received a shipment of GN's and i really wanted one, but a friend just took delivery on the new 87 Formula 350 and i bought that instead. One night hanging out on the strip where we cruised, a friend of mine left the keys in the ignition of his 87 GN and i jumped in it, fired it up, and as i was putting it in drive my friend comes running towards me yelling "DONT PUNCH IT!" well i did, and sideways i went! Needless to say, i went out and bought a WE4. Since then i have been hooked and now on my 5th Turbo Buick and out of all the cars i ever owned (69 GTO Judge, 87 & 89 Formula 350, 67 GTO, 95 Z28 and more) the Grand National and Turbo-T is by far the most everlasting Impressionable ride i ever owned and enjoyed.
Great story! Mine is similar - after getting smoked by my friend's '87 in 1988 (I was in what I thought was my very fast '79 Trans Am), he handed me the keys and said "take it for a spin" - in about two minutes - as soon as I saw those spool lights illuminate and felt the rush, I was sold. Finally got one in 1992 which I had to sell in 2001. Will have one again someday!!
I thank my dad for getting me into the Buick’s. He bought his GN new in 1986 when I was 6 years old. He still has that car, but has just ended numerous turbo Buick’s, typhoons and syclone throughput the years. My very first car was Syclone 879 in 1997. I later sold it and bought a 23k mike 1987 GN in May 2000. I still own it today, but it’s stored alongside my dads 86 in his garage. He also has a 2013 ZL1 parked in the garage with the two GNs
I purchased one of his books and it helped me gain much knowledge about my Gn and I had to sell it because thieves kept trying to steal it. I miss my Grand national 😥
Very cool!!! wish i could meet Mr. Kirban someday. I am going to grab all his books for my GN pilgrimage. Hopefully this time 2020 ill be in my dream care. Thanks

I have an original 87 GN with 25k miles getting offers of 40k plus it is nuts.
That's what I'm seeing the very low mileage ones go for. Will you sell it?
Richard Clark is the man
Agreed! Good ol' Dennis is just a money man. Sold his GN many years ago. Richard Clark and Buick GSCA magazine is the publication! .
Nice 87 low miles can go for mid 30k now
Met this in guy 2011. Extremely humble guy.

Used to buy from Kirban Performance no more! Can't believe what the did to his business. What a insult to his name
Great video now the GNs are 50 to 60k for a nice one.
Thanks. Yeah, it's insane...especially when I think about selling my 44k California GN in 2001 for $11,000. Ugg....

I'd like to sell my 86 T Type ex FBI car in California owned for 22 years with documents from the FBI, car is not used with many new parts and a rebuilt drive trane
send the details to steve@carsmartsradio.com Thx.
@@carsmartsmedia2324 I have a phone number to ask on the Buick I am going to move, if not the car will sit 5107062800
What’s this bullshit about not being able to buy an 87 t type. I bought mine. Ordered it from Buick. It wasn’t called a turbo t. It was a t type.
Made me return some bad springs that cost arm leg to ship. I could of just sent them to recycle yard. Won't buy anything from them anymore
