This is what terrifies me. Everyone loves my designs, but I am a perfectionist and it prevents me. You weren’t being mean, it’s true. I have seen so many designs that are quite ugly and overdone, but they sell. It’s wild to me. I have even seen misspelled words on a shirt, that weren’t supposed to be misspelled…it wasn’t part of the joke, or a difference between a British vs American spelling, it was simply spelled wrong. Thanks Shimmy. Would like more videos about good vs bad designs. 😊
@@shimmymorris1 I have seen many of your videos and you come across as a knowledgeable person but for this specific video I am not so sure. I haven't seen your shop and your design so perhaps you could have added a link to your own shop and also when criticizing a design (which is fine as long as it is constructive), maybe you could have done the effort of showing examples of how you would have done the design of each of them.
In another video, it was said that sales were going nowhere if you don't buy ads or drive traffic on social media. With Etsy always think my stuff just isn't being seen. (Not POD)
you're welcome! to be honest there's a lot in this subject and I could probably make a 10 hour video on it but I don't think anyone would watch it haha
Good tips! Though, there's something not mentioned often about not just designs, but creative content in general. People are starting to catch on to quick, low effort, AI generated content. I don't even have 100 designs yet and none of them are "great", imo, but a few have sold relatively well. Those two? One is a heart made up of most country flags, manually arranged. The other is a similar idea, but with the word "Hello", translated into 100 languages, also manually arranged. They're not great designs by any means, but when someone looks at them, they can instantly tell there was quite some effort put into designing them. And, because no AI can make something like that (yet), they're also different from all the AI generated sludge on the market. Hence, the sales, probably.
Whilst you make a good point about A.I and one shouldn't rely on what it can create to get sales. I have found getting sales with good a.i designs more than possible. One of my best sellers at them moment has elements of A.I
@@shimmymorris1 Of course, there are some nice and good selling AI designs out there, I've sold quite a few too. But looking at my own sales, most of the obvious low effort ones don't sell at all. Either that, or the designs/design ideas themselves aren't good enough. I'll create more "non-AI" designs, where obvious effort is visible, and see how it goes.
Man you are giving lots of good information, I really love the way you explain. But what i really want to know is that what niche to choose, you gave types of niches to choose but i still dont know what to choose, can you give brief explanation on how to select niches . It really help people like who don't know which one to select. (Can we design multiple niches like historical, wildlife , family at a time and list them?)
Hi Shimmy love your work and your videos very honest and lots to learn. I'm new to all this and would love to do print on demand and sell digital on line. I'm very overwhelmed and not knowing were to start. I want to do both. I'd love kittl but not sure as a beginner whether I should use them or maybe canva. Bit confused I am. Getting excited and just want to go for it. Thankyou for your time in reading this. Hopefully I'll get some feed back . Until then ill, keep watching your videos.
In a way this can build insecurity for a designer. "Is it perfect?" but to do a 1hour sketch you must be comfortable in making 10sek sketches to determine wich angles and elements expresses your emmotions the best to develope into the long game. So more practice to become perfectionist.
Great video!! Do you know when you'll be doing design evaluations yet?? Will it be a certain number of designs for a certain price?? Please give us details ASAP!! Thanks!! Love your channel!! 🎉😊
Hey, thanks so much! Really appreciate that. I have started doing them, you can check out the info here if you like: theprintondemandhub.net/5design-audit
Hello, i am a graphic designer and i decided to work on print on demand platforms like teespring. So whats your honest advise, which is the best POD platfom should i choose to start? Hope i will get a reply from you :)
I actually find it very helpful whe you show what designs are good and wgich are bad and explaining why. I learned a lot, thank you!
Oh awesome! Thank you!

I think someone once said the taste is like the a**, split in two :)
Thanks a million Shimmy! Now, I figured out that my designs are quite good but need marketing!
awesome!!! that's good to hear
True re: art. Some teachers say , "I never give an A because there's always room for improvement." I guess that could apply to shirt designs.

Yes i remember those "are my designs any good" videos... i really like them.. a lot of good advice
I was thinking you gonna say negative space, hierarchy, artsy stuff like that but, I'm wrong. Hahahaha.
Thank you for the lesson! 👍👍👍👍👍

you deserve the 100k and more❤
I remember them but I don't agree with them not being helpful. I think k those are really helpful because we get examples and improvements and so on
aw thank you, I appreciate that a lot :D

One of my terrible designs actually led to my first sale! 😂😂😂
haha! brilliant

Ye, being a perfectionist doesn't work in this industry... it would take far to long to create anything

It's my lack of having not gotten my pod store started.....
Yes that could be it too
@@shimmymorris1 THIS week. It is an "All-US" POD store, officially launching Monday, 3/4/2024.
I'm amazed by what does sell sometimes. Ugly sells!
Yup!
I want to sell more in UK market any design advice? They Didn't like the same as people in US.
I'm getting sales in both uk and us with similar designs, just have to be careful about spelling
Hello, i am a graphic designer and i decided to work on print on demand platforms like teespring. So whats your honest advise, which is the best POD platfom should i choose to start? Hope i will get a reply from you :)
I would suggest building a shopify store
Thanks for the reply... keep up the good work man :)@@shimmymorris1
Maybe it's a matter of taste but I didn't think the first 3 designs were all that good either. I'm surprised those sell well.
they sell amazingly... it is always a matter of taste however those designs are your ideal print on demand designs
I'm waiting for a "positive" video of yours (not like - don't do this, or POD is hard .....)
"DO THIS" video = that is what I need (very much)!
I hear, sometimes the truth hurts though. There's always a positive spin or lesson in my videos, I make sure of that!
Does teespring pay in t shirt design?
which company pays the best in T shirt design?
what do you mean, pay in t-shirt design
Does teespring pay in t shirt design after sales...
i dont understand this question. yes they pay you when you get a sale@@vaasuvaasu-q8o
Simple sells . Some of my best selling designs are simple . Don't over complicate it.
I mainly agree, but someone please explain me how bootleg 90s design are selling a lot lol😅
haha, it's coming
Teespring Real or fake dude.
print on demand designing which is the best platform?
it's real, i just wouldn't use it anymore
@@shimmymorris1 print on demand designing which is the best platforms?
which platform we can earn good money
So many bad designs out there. Makes me feel better about my own talents, however!
haha that's good to hear
I’m a professional graphic designer and I am sure you are not. That certainly is not the case when you see lousy text designs sell by millions.
What?
First Comment, again!
nice!!
The best thing you can do is steal other peoples designs that sell. Just kidding
