Thank you Pat. This crazy quilty March is fun. I like that it’s not a lot just a few things to keep us organized and engaged. My sewing room appreciates this!

My friends and I love to go to quilt shows and shop at local fabric stores together! We also go out to lunch to have some extra fun! My thread is stored in the plastic containers that the Aurifil thread manufacturer makes! I keep it in collections of like colors!

Pat that's something I dont understand... people that don't have hobbies or like to read. My mother inlaw will only read the newspaper and she has no hobbies, so being shut in is driving her crazy.
I work in home office for hubby's farm paying our guys and other HR & office duties. So I always have plenty to do. My down time I watch videos, read, sew, crochet or whatever else I want to work. Never bored ;)

I have a good selection of Aurifil threads...mostly in neutral colors. I love it for piecing and for machine quilting; 50 weight, have never bought cones. My variegated supply is nil---I need to work on that. Glide is my absolute favorite for longarm quilting. I have a ton of...well, a bag full...of older spools of threads that belonged to my Mom before she passed that I cannot bear to throw away, most of them are cotton-covered polys. Thanks to you I have found 2 half gallon canning jars...I will fill them with the thread spools and make a fabric ribbon to decorate the jars and will just enjoy the many colors. Thanks again, Pat. You're the BEST!

Thread, whew have I got thread! As you said, Mom’s, and Grandma’s. You just never know when you’ll need that spool. I was working on an appliqué project, and needed a green silk thread. Could not find it at any store. Then I was digging through my thread again and there it was my Grandmother’s fluorescent lime green sold thread on a wooden spool. It was marked 35 cents. I do need to get it more organized. I love my Aurifil thread caddies, and asked Alex if the next time they look at the design please make room for a bobbin to stay with the thread too.
Thanks for doing these motivating videos

I have been enjoying your daily chats as well as your weeklies. I don't have too much thread mostly colors for top stitch so I had to buy more quilting threads to work on projects. You have inspired my to get back in my studio to work on new projects, mostly new blocks that I have never done before. I just finished 4 blocks of a pattern and I don't think I will do anymore so I just need to decide on a border for it and finish it as it is. The next block I will work on today is interesting, I hope I do it justice. Have a great day!

As a full time fabric artist/art quilter, I have a very large collection of threads. Those on cones I store on wooden thread peg storage units, and those on spools are in several plastic drawers in my storage unit and all are organized by type of thread and, where possible, sorted by color within the type...or at least, that's the idea. I probably need to go through and make some minor maintenance sorting, because they do get a little out of sort from time to time. I love talking about threads. Lovely video. Thank you.

I love colors, so I have quite a few. But I need to add the variegated. I used to put thread ends into an empty jar from when I was doing a lot of hand embroidery and bead work. It looked quite pretty with some shiny gold and other metallics running through with all the other colors. I need to start another jar soon. I have more embroidery floss and ready to get going again. 💗😊💗

Pat, thank you for your book on machine quilting! I read the first couple chapters yesterday (riding back from vineyard/husband’s surprise 60th birthday party). This morning, I spent five hours working on quilting two of my sandwiched quilts. Made so much progress. Used up 3 full bobbins before my fibromyalgia said “Enough for today”. Really happy with the results! Your instructions are so easy to follow.

I am loving your March videos each day, and yes they are motivating. This snowbird will have to go back rewatch them, as I can’t wait to put into practice all,the daily tips. I journal prayers, but might to start a quilt journal. I loved all your suggestions for a quilt road trip, solitude of sewing, with maid, ideas. I love to shop hop with my hubby and he helps me narrow down my focus, as a quilt store is like a chocolate shop, and I would like a piece of everything. Yum.

I basically use two types of thread, I use embroidery floss to tie my projects. I don't quilt, I piece. So I use the basic sewing thread in black, white, tan, ivory, gray and purple (90%+ of my quilts are purple). My husband does counted cross stitch so the floss is stored by him and I have drawers with my sewing thread.

My coloured threads are already organized in a handy artbin thread organizer. Great for my epp. For piecing I'm a big fan of aurifil 50 wt in a light grey. I will switch it up though when the project requires. Big fan of variegated thread for quilting through. Lucky for me, one of my LQS has the best selection around and the owner always helps me choose the perfect one for my project.

My sewing machine cabinet has 3 drawers and I use the middle one to store all of my quilting threads in. It’s the perfect size for the threads I use all the time. I still have lots of thread that belonged to my Mom, many of them on wooden spools. I have some in small glass jars but most of them are in a glass fish bowl in my sewing room. They are more than 30 or 40 years old; I don’t sew with them, I just display them. I love those wooden spools and just can’t part with them.

I have some colored and white all purpose thread that I use in projects like pillow cases and zipper pouches. I have Aurifil thread in whites, gray and black for piercing quilt projects. I have some some small spools of colored Aurifil, most of which came from the Sew Sampler. I have a small kit of Aurifil for hand quitting. I haven’t tried it yet. I do have a cone of Aurifil thread but haven’t used it yet. I need to check on how to set it up on my machine. My thread is organized in two- sided thread boxes. I keep Aurifil separate from all purpose. Aurifil 40 and 50 wt are separate too.

Thread is not a real issue for me. Bobbin storage is the issue. I like to keep the bobbin with the spool of thread. If I have a cone I will turn it upside down and put the wound bobbins inside. This works well for my longsrm thread. I do like using verigated for both applique and quilting.

Thank you for your YT tonight on thread. Have some old threads that needs throwing away it looks like. Yes a video on what you use variegated thread on would be nice, I do not have any. I keep thread on wooden spools, and put them in a big jar for looks. I need to look into more of your books ,I did not know you had one on machine quilting, that kgharrill was talking about. Have some minis to quilt that I put off and tired of stitching in the ditch all the time, so will look into it in the a.m. Thank you again for a nice video and see you on day 17th. Your thread holder is great might look into it also.
