im not catholic but I found this woman's presentation fantastic and sincere, the way she closed with an urging to improve our lives and listen to God, but without being religious about it at the end was very nice.

Not a word about when the arc failed to work... the resulting offerings to the arc on plates of copper ...and the battalion of the bravest of Israel that were burned to a crisp by the arc?

Hi, I have a thought: Is it possible that Saint John might have written the book in the 90s after the fall of Jerusalem as indicated by the witness of Saint Irenaeus? I don't think that it would destroy the idea that many of the things revealed are about the fall of Jerusalem.
The book of Revelation is about transcendental reality, past, present and future should not necessarily be understood as literally chronological or temporal. It is about things that essentially transcend time and space. It could be that John (or the Revelator) included details about the fall of Jerusalem to show what this historic event means in the grand scheme of things. It may have confirmed the beliefs (about the fall of Jerusalem that happened in half a generation earlier) already existing among Christians at the time.
Besides, the phrase "what soon shall take place" can also mean "what must happen". So it could mean that these things are supposed to happen. Not necessarily something that will happen in the future.
About the "this is a book of prophecies" argument: The church understands prophecy not only as something that tells something about the future. It is more a call to repentance, and a message of hope.
I am not a Bible scholar, and I am not sure if this will turn out right or wrong. But I guess my point is that there is an interpretative way to reconcile the idea that many things in the book of Revelation pertain to the fall of Jerusalem with the theory that he wrote the book in the last decade of the first century.
I know I may be two years late, but I hope to hear your comment/ opinion/ response to this. Thank you very much!

From early Christian times there have been plenty of guesses as to who could be the anti-Christ. Examples include Nero, Domitian, Diocletian, Arius, Mohammed, Saladin, Luther, Calvin, Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Hitler and Mao. This list is not exhaustive, but I have tried to keep it in chronological order.

John used Ezekiel and the destruction of Jerusalem to encourage the Christians who were persecuted and to warn of the destruction of Rome.

John of the Revelation does not identify himself to be an Apostle.
Domitian had also persecuted Christians and the destruction predicted was that of Babylon or Rome.
