Golfers of Different Skill Levels Take On Pinehurst #2 | BREAKING PINEHURST Holes 1-4

- Welcome BACK to the latest installment of the Breaking series, where we put golfers of varying handicaps up against Major Championship courses from the same tees as the pros. Today, we’re at Pinehurst #2, the three-time (soon to be four) host of the U.S. Open.
Chris Triplett is an 8 handicap out of Detroit, MI - he’s attempting to break 90
Liz Breed is a scratch golfer out of Brooklyn, NY - she’s attempting to break 80
Mark Stagmeier is an 18.8 handicap (wildly specific) - he’s attempting to break 90
Pinehurst was designed by Donald Ross (designer of Aronimink GC, Seminole GC, Oak Hill GC, etc.) and opened in 1907. Pinehurst is home to some of the greatest moments in U.S. Open History; notably, Payne Stewart’s par save to win the 1999 U.S. Open over Phil Mickelson.
Follow along this four-part series to find out who breaks Pinehurst… and who gets broken.

Mark coming out with a bogey on one, while Chris and Liz got a double and a triple is the most golf thing I’ve ever seen.
if you would have told me cousin mark was making the best score on that hole after shot #2 i would have laughed in your face
I’m a scrambler! 😂😂😂
@@markastegmeier you did it the fun way. Lol
Fairways are so overrated.... Sometimes army golf works out.
@@markastegmeier that was insane and well done lol
Dear God, please give me the confidence of an 18 handicap that thinks he can break 90 from the tips at Pinehurst.
😭
And an 8 handicap breaking 90! Most single handicaps would have trouble being 20 over or less from the tips.
That's a good example of American optimism...
I’m a 2, and I shot 88… from appropriate tees… unless you’ve got your A-game going in all facets (esp chipping/putting), you’re in for a long day. So dang tough

love the 18 handicapper Mark just happy to be here, yet playing exactly how you should just down each hole, one strike at a time, calm and happy
"It Will Be Very Good For You, And Most Amusing For Me."
this Gandalf quote pretty much summed up my Golf game for the first year and a half when i started playing!
also Love the Content RGC always puts out! 100% one of my favorite channels on youtube!
My husband nominated me for this series as an ad for the first female golfer to join the Random Golf Club. I don't see myself tee-off from 7300yrds, though, that's a cross-country distance! Lol. Liz has really lovely and smooth swings, love to watch her vibe as well. I have been waiting for this episode to release for a long time. Looking forward for the next part!
How can you not smile when they all got their bag tags and meet/see Erik?
Lovin every minute of it
EAL, Thanks for continuing to bring these to us. I can imagine the production and logistics of putting this type of thing together can be challenging. It does not go unappreciated. Thanks.
whoa, cub!? that's a weird crossover
Everything about The Breaking Series is just beautiful. The players, the caddies, the commentary and of course the courses.
I have to say, I was sceptical at first, because to me EAL is the star of the breaking 90's series, but man...what an absolute joy to watch! The editing, the filming, the sound...it almost like watching a movie...and oh yeah, the play golf! An absolute delight, way to go RGC!!!
Who are these people kidding, with their score goals? I just started watching enough to see their goals, haven't watched them hit a shot yet... but based on their handicaps, the scratch golfer should try to break 90 (but she won't), the 8 handicap should try to break 100 (but he won't), and the 18 handicap should try to break 110 (but he won't). Now time to watch the series and see if I'm right.
That being said... excellent concept/channel that I somehow just now stumbled upon. I will watch a bunch more videos. And kudos to these three players for getting after it! This has to be an absolutely awesome experience for them!
The breaking series are easily the best on RUclips. The production is second to non, mixed with the dry witted commentary of Erik.... pure class 👏
Golf is the only thing I wake up this early for… absolute truth😁
Great to have a Breaking series again! Pinehurst #2 looks SO TOUGH. Not just the length, but the super tricky greens. Keep battling all!
You always find a great group of golfers for this series. Liz compresses the ball so nice...I'm jealous.
Love it. They all have a big smile in the morning before 5 o'clock, although they know exactly what to expect. Resilience ahoy!
Thank you RGC for this fantastic show.
This is beautiful to see - this channel is just making everyday golfers' dreams come true.
Production value is incredible, it does not go unnoticed.
I have watched this 3 times!! Love Pinehurst and I love this series.
Yes!!!! Love the series being back. I’ve watched and rewatched breaking Erin Hills many times. Next time around I’ll be applying for this!
This is the best series to ever grace RUclips
My Monday has turned for the better! Love this series. Props to Liz for playing the back tees, what a warrior. Hope to be on this series soon! Fingers crossed.
I'm four minutes into the video and I'm already enamored with, and emotionally invested in this trio. Excellent story-telling from RGCF, as usual. Can't wait to watch the rounds!
"...and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."
My favorite Gandalf quote (and its gotta be Grey). Pretty much is how I hope to approach golf, life, and anything in between... and there is nothing better than starting a week with a new breaking series!
some of Liz's shots were just unbelievable. wow she's good
Wow I just got into this series a few days ago and have watched all episodes. Cant believe a new one just dropped, keep em coming!
Wow, that timing couldn't be better!
Don't laugh at the 7 wood Erik! DJ, Cantlay, Louis and others are now playing them. OK, and me! Love the Breaking series, keep 'em coming.
The Breaking 90 series is always class. Thank you again EAL for the content and for saying “You Shall Not Pass” haha
and if Chris is seeing this… Go Green!!!
GO WHITE!!!
@@christriplett2188 family is from EL and West Bloomfield! Glad to see a Spartan on this series!
These are the most entertaining golf videos I’ve come across. Will continue following and hopefully apply for one some day! Keep the content rolling!
Hahah Erik's commentary of Chris's birdie putt on 1 had me rolling!
By far my favorite series currently, and nothing beats the smooth buttery commentary we have been gifted! :D Maybe someday Ill be courageous enough to apply to be on this...
Coming back to breaking Pinehurst after just spending a week there. Even after watching it on TV, it does not look that same at all in real life. However, played the best round of my life there. The most wonderful place.
Yessssss! Breaking series is the best series out there, love this stuff! Thank you RGC!
Growing up here in Moco never really cared about golf because it was everywhere, shitted on it, thought it was boring. But then I got to play CCNC with some friends one day and fell in love with it. Seeing my hometown like this and recognizing HWY 5 is pretty cool to see. Oh and Hunter is cool as hell he the man.
glad i was able to stumble upon this series. such a fun and fantastic layout. being in the airforce, wish i had the ability to golf at these amazing courses.
Thank you for your service!
I've played Barton Hills and it's crazy to see how even working with different elevation, grass, soil, etc. Ross uses so many signature characteristics in his courses. You can always tell when you're playing a Donald Ross course.
Great timing, I played the No. 2 course just two weeks ago. One of the best golf experiences I’ve ever had.
Chris and Liz are the future of this channel. Legends.
Speaking it into existence 🙏🏽🙏🏽👀👀
Anyone else getting "Railroad Tycoon" vibes from the music? Loved all of this, great series :)
Absolutely LOVE the breaking series. Keep em coming!!
YES YES YES YES YES. This is my favorite thing on RUclips.
Love seeing Chris out here experiencing one of the things he loves most on one of the most amazing courses! Proud little cousin moment 🧡
"the birdie jar doesn't even exist anymore." lol...EAL, you're the best man!
EAL your voice is absolute butter, these are the most relaxing vids on RUclips. So much fun watching good golfers try to copy the pros, shows just how dialed in the top dogs are!
Not playing pinehurst
Myself, I have been watching this golf course for about 20 years. I love the course. Who wouldn’t? The more deadly the greens the better. True greens cannot be beat.
This is the BEST and most relatable golf series ever created!
Liz’s driver swing is unreal. What a tempo.
“Golf is the only thing I’ll wake up this early for (4:30 AM).” Relatable!
the editing of these videos is golden.
“He’s watching his own hand be severed from his arm” such golden commentary
Every time this series drops on my subscription page it brightens up my day! Best series on RUclips and cannot wait to see how everyone does this time around
Best channel I’ve ever seen, more please more! Such a cool idea and incredibly well made
Seeing another RGC series come up makes me even more excited I just ordered the same headcover as Chris (1:24) Pumped to get out and play this week
Liz you have a really nice swing, so smooth! 🧈
This series is just so so cool and well made 👏 amazing production
I call dibs to star in the next series haha. These episodes never fail to amase me. I would love to be apart of a series like this. 5⭐ random golf club
Thanks for bringing back our favorite series, looking forward to seeing someone break Pinehurst!
I think I can say with very high confidence that Pinehurst ain't never being broken by anyone that isn't a legit tour pro :D
This was great to watch, thank you.
Been waiting awhile for this and the first episode did not disappoint! Keep up the great work.
This is amazing, great narration !!!
Breaking Series baby!! Stunning golf course.
Is it just me, or is it a thrill to watch players hit errant shots and know what they did wrong fundamentally?
Golf is just ... amazing.
Gods optimized life fundamentals. :D
Just found this channel. What a great time!!!!
"we've been playing for 30 minutes and it's gone up 20 degrees since we started" LOL classic NC weather for ya
The quality of this video is absolutely insane
Chris is stepping in lines left and right!! Cmon Chris..
Didn’t even realize 😂😂 was just a little kid out there having fun
@@christriplett2188 hahah, understandable.
Mark with the most contagious smile ever
I love watching REAL Golfers. Opposed to watching the miracle shots most golf shows, show us.
Brilliant idea. Brilliant format. Brilliant execution. Just Bravo 👏🏼... enjoying these series thoroughly! Let us know if you need any Aussie contenders next time!
Loving this filmmaking art. Awesome series.
This is honestly the best series out of all TV/streaming services IMO and probably many others as well, I get excited every time I see a new one come out! It’s amazing to see the progression of your channel, not surprisingly though you put in a lot of work well done EAL and team!!
Watch strapped from the no laying up channel
These films are always awesome! I hope someday my golf game gets confident enough to put in for one of these.
The Barstool chirp made me spit out my water. Absolutely hilarious 😂
Great series! I think the caddies need to help set the score goals because these guys have some seriously over-optimistic targets. An 18.8 would rarely break 90 at their local muni from 6200. Should be entertaining though. Chris should be another stroke over as well as his provisional on hole 3 would have been 3 from the tee not hitting 3 from where it ended up.
Meh, let them be optimistic. I think it plays into the point of the series that the courses the PGA tour guys make look semi easy are far far from it and the avg golfer over estimates their ability to score on such a difficult track.
@@ahastar1141 it's fine to be optimistic, but it kinda defeats the purpose of the series title when you know they have 0% chance of "breaking X" and they're using all their strokes within 6 holes. It would be more interesting if they had a chance to hit their goal coming down 18.
I heard 80 and started to laugh at the ignorance
You must be fun to play golf with
Liz has the most beautiful swing possibly ever! 🤤 Please get her to play again on your channel! Joy to watch her play. 🔥
This is cinema, unreal scenes
MY FAVOURITE SERIES! Let's go! So happy there's a female this time too!
?
@@moonlanding-69 More representation, not just men playing this time!
Love your doing in Golf Sport bringing it to the people, would be unbelievable tobe part of one series....
This makes me love golf even more.
Going this weekend and playing the cradle on Friday I’m so hyped
How does this channel have so few subs?! Its SO good and golf is so popular!
Your commetary made it brilliant 💯
This series is going to get me through this week. Thank you so much RGCF!
That 4th hole is ridiculous! I was playing white tees. Our caddie had us walk over the pro tee box to see that tee shot after playing #5. Looooong.
I'd love to do this! What a cool thing you are doing by giving people like this the chance to play on dream courses.
Best series in YT Golf. Liz’s ball striking is pure 👌🏼
One of my favorite places on earth !!!
YESSSSS, we're back!!!! I remember recording a video for this haha
been waiting for this one!
The filming and production is soooo good man, love the series. 🤙🏼
I could watch Liz swing all day. So smooth and effortless.
100%
Gotta love the twirl counter, great video once again RGC!
I am so glad these are back! by far my favorite series on youtube. Today i am writing to you on here and who knows maybe one day I will be there being watched on youtube on one of these breaking ________ series.
The beginning of this with the players taking it all in made me borderline emotional!
The shot tracker is an interesting feature, even if you hit a terrible shot, it makes it look incredible somehow. Also you gotta love the confidence on Mark literally trying to break 90 as an 18 handicap on what is probably the most difficult course he's ever played.
great video, from a 30 handicap, this is awesome
Played here in August 2020. Insanely hard, yet fun as hell. Handicap is was a 13 and I managed to shoot a 92. Such a great experience.
mark is my favourite golfer
I cannot believe the amount of excitement and jealousy that occurs while watching this video. To know that anyone and everyone can be a part of these videos is both the most life changing and hugely saddening (when not selected) thing in the world. Congratulations to living out your fantasy at a golf mecca. Holding my breath until holes 5-9.
When I saw only 3 people were chosen for this one, I was even more depressed. Odds go way down when you’re 1 of 3 out of 1,000 people instead of 1 out of 4. I’ll gladly pay for the whole trip and golf to fill that 4th spot in the future. Haha
2,833* - but there's ALWAYS a chance!
@@RandomGolfClubFilms I see that there may be two opportunities in the following week, so maybe double the chances?
It’s a public course, if you desperately want to play it, you can make it happen
@@jwilder2251 it’s not about the golf course. I’ve played some good ones. It’s about playing it full length with the RGC crew. Life changing experience. Money can buy lots of things but an experience like this would be priceless
Honestly, would give just about anything to play on this series! Amazing courses, to show how unreal the pros really are!!
Do you have a personal relationship/connection to Erik? That’ll really bump your chances up
Pinehurst putting this group off first for the day was a great idea :X
