- Welcome to EPISODE 2 of Breaking Pinehurst (Holes 5-9) where we put golfers of varying handicaps up against the three-time U.S. Open host, Pinehurst #2, from the championship tees.
If you missed Episode 1 and want to start there: • Golfers of Different S...
Chris Triplett is an 8 handicap out of Detroit, MI - he’s attempting to break 90
Liz Breed is a scratch golfer out of Brooklyn, NY - she’s attempting to break 80
Mark Stagmeier is an 18.8 handicap (wildly specific) - he’s attempting to break 90

Great show - love how Cousin Mark lines up towards the trees, hits the trees. Goes back to the tee - lines up towards the trees - hits the trees again. It's a festival of recognition!
Persistence.
Lol right?? He looks like he is lining up sooo far right in every shot man! I’m like screaming at my phone for him to adjust his alignment. Haha
I resembled this remark lol
To be fair...he hits a draw/hook almost every shot.
Cousin Mark is a stripe show! Played w him today.. tight draws all day.
Cousin Mark is by far my favourite. He owns the fact that he belongs in the woods and always has a smile on his face.
This series is gold but EAL's commentary makes it platinum!
Mark definitely disowned him after this round.
Agreed...I said it before, EAL's cerebral Jim Nance commentary makes you feel like you're wrapped in a warm blanket
So true
When I watch these videos, I feel like I'm listening to Jim Nantz if he had a sense of humor. Also, Liz is a legend and I love that Mark is an 18 handicap and somehow thought he could break 90 at Pinehurst #2 from the tips!
Yeah when he said that I audibly laughed. The tips on a US Open course are typically in their own area code. Pinehurst is no exception. As a 16 from the tips I'd be aiming to go below 120 and I would certainly fail.
I think it’s almost funnier that Chris started his goal at 80…. I don’t think he’s broken 80 constantly let alone do it at pinehurst 2 from US Open tips
@@jampavalunbisitsang1657 No, Chris set his goal at breaking 90, but even that was gonna be near impossible, especially since I truly don't believe he's a legit 8.
@@darrylyee409 I meant his original target before he changed it haha and agreed I think he has good game but highly doubt he’s a 8. Even though he is playing with cameras, crowd and a hard course. He’s very inconsistent with a lot of clubs. Still a strong golfer with only being year 3
@@andrewkleinhans1624 Lmao why would you be playing from the tips with a 16 handicap? No need to make this game any harder than it already is lol
Great concept for a video! Real life golfers on an extremely tough course. Good commentary from the golfers. Hats off to LIz, she is a player!
She’s also really annoying
I freaking love this series. It's one of my fav on YT. I need to apply to be on one!
It's awesome.
You definitely should! We'll post something when applications are back open.
It'd be amazing to be on one of these! I will be applying for the next one lol
@@RandomGolfClubFilms if liz is single let her know I'm available.I'm 5-6, brown eyes,150 pounds, manager at a carpet cleaning service in Dallas...THANX.
@@RandomGolfClubFilms I want to also. Coming back from heart surgery; I am jonesing to play soon as docs let me! This whole series is epic.
Oh man, I was with Mark in the bunker in spirit. Haven’t seen that much agony on a beach since Normandy. Keep your head up Mark. We’re rooting for you!!!!
Can we appreciate 4:26 and how smooth Tom booted that pinecone off the fairway in stride
HAHAHA I never caught that!
It's episodes like these that show you what it really takes to be a professional golfer. It's definitely humbling.
No, it just shows you what many good players have to deal with in terms of overestimating their capabilities and then trying to shoot scores that are self-defeating. The clear message to me is that if the were not so aggressive in setting their targets during play, they would actually play better and score higher.
It's like the difference between playing a round with a 9-iron and with a 2-iron.
We carry 14 clubs in our bag to give us a wide variety of shot options for different circumstances during the round.
None of that matters if you consistently pick poor shots to even attempt.
If you're just not good enough for the shots that you try to make, and you consistently try to make such shots...it's simple, your score is going to reflect that.
Being a PRO golfer is a whole 'nother level of skill on top of that.
Now you're talking about playing inside of 10 strokes off the pace or in the top half of the field.
But to even get to THAT point you have to win a Tour card. And that means that you're in the top 3 in Q school, out of 60+ guys all trying to get their Tour card.
Then you get to try to keep your Tour card, meaning that you're in the top 125 or so of players on the PGA money list.
Most players have no clue of what it means to be that good. And you definitely aren't seeing it with videos of people who can't *easily* break 80 from a Tour tee. To get a Tour card through Q school you have to shoot in the 60s from tournament tees while playing 36 holes in a day. Imagine walking 3 rounds of golf inside of 2 days and shooting in the 60s each time from PGA Tour tees.
I think this series does nothing more than expose the poor judgement of players that think they're good and do have decent physical talent with a golf-club. But if they're on this series, they're nowhere near a pro player. A pro player would come out and walk the course, first, and then literally break 80 with little to no trouble. These guys just show up and literally declare they will break 90. They have zero chance to do that.
Couldn't have clicked on this any faster, these are my favorite videos on YT, thank you so much RGC!!!
This series is sooo good man! Big respect to the media team in capturing everything so well! I would love to be a part of this but I feel I won’t be breaking anywhere 90 😂
I have had the 'pleasure' of playing Pinehurst No 2 once and those greens really do absolutely destroy you. This video is good because it really shows you just how brutal they are. You can hit what seems like the perfect approach only to find yourself off the back or short sided in a bunker which only adds to your pain as you have an impossible up and down - reality is it's often a lot more than that. I'm off an 8 handicap and it made me look like a total novice at times. True golfing flagellation
The twirl counter is so funny because he kept doing it even when he rolled off the green on the chips
Clowns gotta perform 🤷♂️ Same guy THINKS he is a 8 handicap. More like 18..if lucky
@ Mark PArish I have a different take - he does it totally unconcsiously - whether he hits a good shot or not. He is not trying to seem better than he is.
@@GrowYourReputation I just think he is going for style over score. Either way it looks ridiculous especially when you are 20 OVER after 9 holes
@@markparish9045 Man you're so concerned about other people in these comments. Chill out
@@markparish9045 I got bad news Mark, you would also be 20 over through 9 from those tees on #2
There should be a series in which the best scorers from each play level and each "Break" series play in a tournament setting, or tournament bracket against each other. I would definitely watch. After watching all the series you almost get attached to some of these players and you want to see more of them with this production value. Incredible content. Thanks RGCF crew!
This channel deserves so many more views and subscribers. The quality is off the charts.
only just discovered this series and am loving it. Love watching Liz
Thank you snatching all desire to play this course. I actually value my peace and sanity LOL. best series in RUclips golf
King: Me too. I will spend my money elsewhere. I don't want to be an 8.3 and shoot 112.
I third that King Chav. We are planning a golf trip there next year and everyone is debating if they want to spend the extra jack to play #2 and I say, why waste my money...
I love that I discovered this channel. Love the commentating. Hilarious and very entertaining
I rarely laugh out loud to golf videos, but your reactions to your cousin knocking wood all over the place had me chuckling pretty good. Love the series. I would love to be a part of it one day!
Keeping the shot tracer on cuz’s bunker shots is peak editing. Love this series!
I can't tell you how much I enjoy this series. The commentary. The golfers. The courses. The caddies. Everything.... Favourite line this time, "Pinehurst is such a passive aggressive golf course". Brilliant
This is the gold standard for golf vlogs. Quiet, insightful commentary, an amazing and difficult venue, and golfers we can all relate to. I cannot wait for the back nine.
The text message commentary was the best and so relatable! "And then you kind of wish you didn't have her number in the first place" Good shit...keep the great content rolling!
My father played in the 1994 US Senior Open at Pinehurst. Those are memories I will never forget. RIP Bill Lytle.
Must of been an amazing experience, love that.
RGC shows these courses in a way that no other videographer does. We appreciate that.
12:34 “Triple bunker latte” made laugh so hard 😂
This has been fun to watch so far. Liz is a great player.
Loving each and every one of these. Uncle Mark also cracks me up, fully embodies the mentality of "all that matters is the next one." You're a genius EAL!
it's Cousin Mark.. geez he doesnt look that beat to shit haha
The best series on RUclips! Congrats to Eric and his team on another incredible Breaking Series!
Brilliant video!! Great to see the different levels of golfer on show… maybe nerves or got into a bad rhythm but Chris did not look like an 8 handicapper just from a pure swing and ball strike perspective. More of these though please. So entertaining!!
Just played here about a month ago! Love the videos. ~15 handicap, and I shot 97. My brother and I got ovation on 18 with 25 foot putts back to back.
This breaking series is incredible. Thank you RGC & EAL!
This series is incredible! The commentary is so entertaining!
Love cousin ,mark love ,Chris love liz
All were impeccable in this episode
Comedy and golf folks 🙌
Love the series. Cameras and an unfamiliar championship course can double (or more) a handicap. As an almost 60 year old, would love to do this. Just have the 7 second/cuss button ready.
Great series! Love the Bowfinger reference, underrated movie.
Every time I watch these episodes it just blows my mind on how entertaining and well produced this is! Amazing job by everyone involved and already looking forward to the back 9 guys!
First series of videos I’ve come across and I’m hanging around for the commentary. Love it
Welcome aboard!
The only time I ever get jealous in my life is always watching the breaking series! Not only do they get to play some of the greatest course but they get to meet EAL!! The commentary is just so good! Really wish I could play a round with EAL, hopefully one day ❤️
Pure gold! Love the series and I know it is a lot of work to put this together. Much respect and keep these coming!
This series came into my feed and it's sooo good! Great job everyone who worked on this. Now I really want to play Pinehurst.
Can we just take a min and appreciate the quality of this content? 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What a great series , bringing back all the memories of rounds at #2
Imagine a woman saying “I need to work on my trust issues.” Lmao. Truer words have never been spoken. Love your game and personality Liz.
Mark made 9 on hole #five. One in, two out. Three off the tea. Four was the punch shot back into the middle of the fairway. Stroke 5 was a hooked seven wood from 288 into the trees on the left. Number six was a decent shot that landed on the green but rolled way off. Seven was the pitch to about 25 foot. And finally a 2-put for 9.
His 6th shot was shown missing the green to the left and then he is putting for double bogey? Two scoring (counting) mistakes in the 1st five holes. That's pretty bad, unless cheating is "par for the course" at the Random Golf Club.
This series is absolutely brilliant! Bring it!
I really think these breaking series, are the best content on RUclips
The Breaking Series is my favourite thing on RUclips!!! Keep up the good work!!!
23:03 is the most realistic part of this whole episode. Between Chris' absolute brain fart of a swing and EAL's commentary you've shown and said everything you need to know about golf - and a prime example of why rule 17b is the most important rule in the (unwritten) book.
I laughed so hard
Incredible photography. Brilliant Commentary. Great content. Love this series!
I DEFY you to listen to the commentating and NOT laugh. This is legendary, just earned a subscriber
I absolutely love this series, thank you RGC! Now just to get the invite to the next breaking series!
I haven't laughed this hard in a while 😂, truly enjoyed every moment 👍🏾
Par 5 - 595 yards "You don't want to go left...I guess you don't want to go right either...So that's fun!" Love it!
I freakin love Bowfinger. My favorite Eddie Murphey performance. Classic. Love the series, love the golf, love the commentary. 🤘
You have to love Chris comes on RUclips and declares he is a 8 handicap and proves he is more like a 20 handicap. Then he Tiger twirls the most horrible golf swings over and over. Mark is a gamer. Struggled but continued with a great attitude. Liz is a good golfer. Played well on that beast course. I’m from N. Carolina and have played #2. The greens are a nightmare and sticking one from the fairway is very difficult.
This show is so awesome. Been following the shows and they should be using vice balls. They are the best!
Cousin Mark is my spirit animal.
Omg!! The texting story hits home like hot coco and toast !!!! When that thing sits on read for over a week… its time to give up but mama didnt raise no quitter !!
Enjoying this so much, it’s THE best golf content on youtube by a mile! Keep it up guys! ❤️
Love the series!!! EAL, I also love to see the ink on the course. I'm always getting looks by the old timers because of mine.👀 If you ever get up near Fort Hood we'll have to play.
Amazing group. Thomas the caddie is pure gold.
The one caddie that talked about screen door caddied for me their last Oct., great caddie! We played a customer scramble and shot -15, not from the tips.
Cousin Mark standing in the bunker after hitting it into the trees just contemplating his life is my spirit animal on the golf course.
I'm really enjoying this series!
Absolutely love the 3 combined shot tracers on the last!
Absolutely love the content and such a cool way of bringing different skill level of golfers together I would love to do this
Excellent video..have to say Liz is a superb golfer…what a swing 👌👌not sure about the trousers tucked in tho 🤣
Favorite series on youtube. Quality. And hey now that yall in Austin there are a couple great courses up here in East Texas worth checking out! Pine Dunes, Pinecrest (My Club in Longview), Tempest and WIllowbrook. Keep up with the great content!
Love this series! I'm twirling every club I use the next time I play. I wish you all could teach me how to create those awesome shot tracers!
Liz needs her own channel , golden.. what a great series.
Mark is my spirit animal.
The 5th hole , Don't go left , What ever you do Don't go right and of course Don't go straight. Enjoy !
Great video. Pinehurst on my groups list. Headed to Torrey pines tomorrow
This. Is. Brutal. Almost feels unfair to watch. How the heck these guys are keeping there spirits up is beyond me. Well done all. Great series...
Just finished watching a replay of the 2019 US amateur at Pinehurst. This video shows how good the competition is at the US am.
Yeah it's insane!
Best commentary ever!😄
Pretty sure ol Donny Ross' house was on an earlier hole. I think that one (@17:05) was the one with the flagpoles from Wrigley field (or something like that)
The twirl counter is priceless….. what’s the over under ? I say he ends with over 40 lol gotta love it , he seems like a cool dude
Can't spoil it, but I can't wait for everyone to get the final number lol.
@@RandomGolfClubFilms The numbers only matter if everything is putted out, EVERY hole.
One hole in and already shaving strokes off Cousin Mark's score. His 6th shot on 5 is ejected way off the green and then magically, he has a putt for 7 from the middle of the green. That's a very kind foot wedge at work.
Watching it back makes it even more hilarious...Mark probably made a 12 from where his ball was but they cut the cameras so obviously 4 of those shots didn't happen
take the tin foil hat off, my guy.
@@BeefyPreacher Didn't realize math was a controversial topic for RGC
@@TheKrbergen what does a RGC have from intentionally shaving strokes? Isn’t that kind of the point of breaking series? It doesn’t matter what you shoot?
@@BeefyPreacher Idk ask them not me. Shot 6:ruclips.net/video/Pt3ESlV1VZI/видео.html Shot 7:ruclips.net/video/Pt3ESlV1VZI/видео.html
Big fan of this series! EAL sleeved up golfer here. Lets tee it up!
Dude!!!! Erik all to real, when you see someone who ghosted you...I guess I'm going to walk away. Classic!!!! I was dying!!!
just found the channel - this is awesome. EAL's commentary is sooooooo good. I would like to see how he would describe following me around for 18...lol.
Great Series. Would love to see one of these at PGA West the stadium course in CA. It's a monster from the Tips.
Thank you Cousin Mark
You’re welcome, Troy. All are welcome.
Man these guy gotta really learn what a handicap is 😂 still a great video and kudos to them playing in front of the cameras but like cmon
Series always makes me wanna go play after watching. Everyone is super cool, great cast of characters.
Pinehurst #2...awesome clubhouse, great history, beautiful layout, top class service and facilities. The green complexes are just no fun and basically unfair for anyone that’s over a 2-3.
Hardest golf course I've ever played. Count on shooting 15 strokes (minimum) above your handicap.
I really enjoy this series and getting the appreciation for just how dang good the pros are. But I'd kind of like to see these players play from more appropriate tees to see what it would look like for them. The yardage definitely hurts them, but would be cool to see how amateurs perform on a tough course with a caddie helping to guide them.
Made my day with the bow finger reference! I thought I was the only one
I am beyond excited about this. Willing to pull my vehicle over to watch it!!!!
How does someone apply to be a part of this life-changing breaking series?! I couldn’t imagine getting the opportunity to play these courses in these conditions with EAL and the RGC crew!
Is there no penalty strokes for grounding the club in the bunker on this course 🤣
Love the content and the commentary!
You can ground your club in the waste bunkers at Pinehurst
The caddies recommend you take a practice swing to get a feel for the sand
@@markastegmeier i know, but there was a few times they grounded the club on a greenside bunker
@@dompan6958 you’re probably correct...just another one of the many reasons why we’re not getting our tour cards anytime soon!
I love Chris' enthusiasm for the club twirl no matter the situation
Favourite series on YT. Love Chris' swagger. What's the over/under on club twirls? Make your predictions here. I'm guessing 44 on the twirl counter. 😀
Think it's roughly about 2 per hole so far I'm gona go for 33
12:54 Mark almost walking directly into Chris' chip lol
Yeah I’m an idiot
@@markastegmeier haha I'd do the same when playing with friends. We dont exactly have the best etiquette/awareness
Can't believe there's still 2 more episodes of this. Haven't these poor souls been through enough?!
Liz swing is poetry in motion, could watch it all day
love this - would love to apply, come on over to New Zealand again!
23:02 HAHAHA ‘ohhh s$&t what the f@#k was that!’ Bahaha
Love this RGC!!!
