  • "Stop Comparing Yourself to Others" Blog Post: westmanacademy...
    Christian homemakers, stop comparing yourself to others. We are faced with a world where money, careers, and material goods determine how "successful" we are. What we have does NOT determine how God views us, and what our worth is to Him. Let us pray that we can all break free from wanting worldly success. This "success" is leading us to yearn for what other people have, and compare ourselves to what others look like, and the things they possess.
    I know I am almost at 13,000 subscribers, and I haven't even gotten out my giveaway for 1,000. I promise I have not forgotten about my giveaway....I will actually just do two, one for 1,000 and one for 10,000. I am making my giveaway gifts, so it has been taking some time. I live out in the country and have mice! We ended up with a stray kitty showing up on our door step so I started feeding her then the next thing you know she gave birth to kittens under our house! Now we have 6 beautiful outdoor kitties! She is a wonderful momma and I have to say that was gods doing because I am deathly afraid of mice and so disgusted by them! Since we have had her here we haven’t had one mouse in the house! ❤ I love my precious outdoor kitties!

      Now, from experience, I will suggest to get them “fixed” to avoid future issues, assuming they are mostly feral. My friend had to trap the feral cats at his uncle house. I love them for the mice, but they can also carry diseases. Maybe fixing them will keep them from wandering as far…maybe. But I love outdoor cats! They are the best to keep mice at bay!

    Oh the couch accidents! Our couch has many stains on it. We got a steaming company to come out and get it cleaned, but I've noticed they are slowly creeping back up. My daughter has had accidents on our couch a few times too. I am waiting until the kids are out of the spilling/accidents stage before getting a new couch. And I noticed there's a tear in it too! My house gets to be disastrous quite often, so I can totally relate!
    Oh I love that, only compare your past self to your present self. We all grow so much each year and it's cool to look back and reflect how far we've come. 2023 was a huge year of growth for me in many areas, but most of all my faith.
    We have holes in our comforter too, thanks to my dog! And it's the 2nd one. I kept the old one as a backup. We also went several years without a bed frame and just had our mattress on the floor.

      I'm glad I'm not the only one with holes in their comforter. 😆 And accidents on the house...we are at a much better place potty training, this was just a day right before a good track. As much as I want my house tidy, you can only do so much with kids running around everywhere. I'm 2024 will also have many blessings in store for you. 🥰 I also love that you had your mattress on the floor too. 😄

      @abarn9541 8 месяцев назад +1

      If you get some curved needles and some pretty floss, those holes in the comforter (if just lines) can become part of the comforter's design. Otherwise I've found a patch in a complementary color (those fat quarters work well) and use that to patch a larger tear - patchwork quilt style.

    Dearest Sister-in-Christ, you are a God-given gift to me. Somehow, your videos come along, with precisely what I need to hear and remember, at exactly the right moment. Only a while ago, I was weeping and crying out in frustration at a particularly difficult season we are experiencing and this video appeared. It is as if God were speaking to me Himself through you... I am now calmer and am feeling His Spirit saying: "Be still and know that I am God." I cannot thank you enough for your content. May the Lord richly bless you. 💜

Psalm 139 (maybe 138 depending on your translation) is also a GREAT chapter to read when you're in the difficult season. God is strengthening you in your trials. ❤️ May God bless you abundantly!

    Last night while rocking my child so sleep, I prayed out to the Lord to help me grow in faith. To give me a shift in heart and mind. Throughout the last year, I've seen and felt that spark in my faith fade. And now today, while nursing my baby, I opened RUclips and saw your video on my recommended page. I know God showed me your videos as an answer to my prayer. I'm now binge watching your videos, feeling the spirits presence in my life again. Breathe, rest when they all rest. I made mine do a "quiet time" in their rooms, so everyone could rest for an hour after lunch. They didn't have to sleep (often did), but they had to play (or read when older) quietly as someone else might be sleeping.

It reminded me that I wasn't the only one experiencing this day to day. Thank you for doing this. I believe more moms than you know will benefit from this channel and people will come to Christ through it. @@faithfulacresfarmhouse You're welcome. As women of God, wives and mothers we should all strive to be that way. Yes, it is always wonderful when I connect with other homeschooling moms. I have been homeschooling for a few years but this year my oldest son will be 6 so I am really trying to find a curriculum as a guideline and I would like to incorporate my own things as well. Before I was a stay at home mom I was an Early Childhood Educator so I want to take some knowledge from that as well.

    It’s so refreshing to see a normal lived in house and you tacking the duties so calmly and methodically. My house is overly cluttered and I don’t know where to start. I find it overwhelming, especially when the children don’t want to donate stuff and my procrastination issues! I love the way you explain the scriptures and make them relevant to modern life. I am not publicly religious because when I hear some people speak ie “amen, sister in Christ, you are a sinner and need saving….” puts me off and some of them sound like brainwashed unthinking, fanatical types. Don’t mean for that to sound judgemental. Channels like “The Transformed Wife”scares me and it seems quite out of touch, although I like most of the guidance. People like you however, really make me feel a lot differently and I find you very inspiring. You have a lovely family

    • @faithfulacresfarmhouse
      @faithfulacresfarmhouse  8 месяцев назад +2

      We go through many stages of clutter (right now especially due to Christmas gifts). It's hard to get started and be motivated when it all seems so overwhelming. What helped me was getting empty totes, and having my kids pick out like 5 toys each, and packed the rest away downstairs. We didn't get rid of anything, we just rotate. If toys come up, others must come down. We found they play so much better when there is less to overstimulate and overwhelm them. Even if you did a tote a day or week. I also get rid of toys without them knowing. Kids will always want their toys, even if they don't care about them. Anything broke or incomplete (not a full set) goes. I also understand what you're saying about other Christians. Our purpose should be spreading love and God's word. Yes, we should all think about the consequences of disobedience, but telling someone they aren't saved usually doesn't help. I haven't watched the other channel, but hopefully as Christians, we can come together to form a community that outpours God's love and word to others. ❤️ Thank you for your kind words.

    Dear Kelsey, you breathe so much truth into me outside of my bible study. My husband and I have always been renters and I have prayed for the 20 years of our marriage for us to have our own home to raise our family in. Instead, we have always lived in a rental; be it an apartment or a townhouse or condo. There have even been times when we were all stuffed into one room because we were homeless and a dear friend would take us all in (a family of 5 at the time). My oldest son is 18 years old and I remember before he turned 15, I prayed and asked God to please find us a place to rent so my oldest son could have his own room before he turned 16 years old. The following December, we were able to rent a 4 bedroom house. The first time we have rented anything bigger than a townhouse. We're still renting the same house. One night, during an evening neighborhood walk I became completely discontented because this home isn't ours to make changes and I can't plant flowers in the front yard etc. The next day, I poured my heart out to God about this discontented feeling I had over not having a home of my own and He reminded me that this world is not my home. This is all temporary. I haven't struggled with that issue since God met me in prayer that day to remind me that home is with Him! ❤😭🙌

      What a beautiful reminder and experience you have shared with us. I need to remember this. I feel like I long for something, and if God blesses me with it, then I am discontent and want more or want it to be different. I need to stay focused on our eternal home, not temporary home. Thank you for this beautiful reminder!

    I am sorry about the mouse problem. Ugh. I love the breaking down of a simple scripture and making it more understandable to all. While I am not one who has ever really been the jealous type of things at all, I do have goals for my home. I have a very small home for our family size or even for a family smaller than ours, but I have always been content with it. The only thing I tend to covet is a bathtub, since I haven't owned one for 15 years and miss baths dearly. It doesn't eat away at me or making me jealous to see others who have tubs, it just makes me miss that time I had to relax and unwind that I don't do. Loved your video.

      I don't think there is anything wrong with missing your bath tub! I don't blame you at all. I have one, but rarely have time to be able to go and sit and relax in it. I do miss that. I feel the same way a lot of times. I try to follow the same routine. My 3 older kids (6, 4, 2) all get 15 minutes each with me where we play whatever that kid wants, and the other kids follow along with that game. I also homeschool, so in-between times I try to get housework done. Some days I spend more time cleaning and some days less. I try to interact with my 10 month old while the others play and while I'm doing stuff. I try really hard to stop what I'm doing if I see my kid(s) need me, but I can't say I'm always the best. I also try to incorporate them into what I'm doing, even cleaning. You're doing great! It's hard to find balance.

    You are amazing Kelsey ... Wonderful mom & wife in every way, you really do it all. I'm wondering if you took your pantry items, putting as much as you can in Jars, Mason Jars, etc., (including bottles/pkgs of spices into jars) to avoid mice, should you have time to do that.
    You are a GREAT Inspiration to everyone. God Bless you and your Beautiful family! 🙏❤️🌈

      Yes! Great idea! I have switched things to jars and we moved the food from that specific "closet" "pantry". I need to utilize jars!

    Thank you so much for your transparency in the beginning. Sometimes, i feel very overwhelmed with the house not looking a certain way. That reminded me that nonodys perfect, and that's ok. ❤

      Yes! I definitely still have all those feelings too. I'm slowly appreciating the mess because I know it means my family is comfortable and active.

    This is probably the wrong video to ask …Not asking to covet🙂. I’ve been looking for the containers like the ones you have on your counter for flour, sugar, etc. Would,you mind sharing where you found them? This was my second video and I’m now a new subscriber.

      They are the Anchor Hocking ones. The gallon ones! amzn.to/48cIoI9 They are on Amazon and at Walmart! They also have smaller sizes too.

    Love the transparency. Contentment is great gain with godliness. I too have learned this over time and finally can truly see my blessings! I am encouraged to see how God has molded me so far and yes, we need to look at that more. Love this video. All glory belongs to God and it should never be a comparison of what we have verses what others have. May we continue to remember these truths as the world pushes this game of comparison and competition . We can walk free of that in Jesus name! I have been meditating on the abundance we have in Christ. We truly have it all in Him. So thankful!
    Bless you sister❤

    Mice freak me out so much! I had a momma get in mine and had babies. I now have 3 cats 🩵🩵🩷 Thank you for showing real life. I think if we are honest, all of our homes are lived in. I always pray that God would help me be a better steward to what He has given me. I’m trying to always work on contentment. Trying to always see the blessings. My marriage ended years ago. I’m alone and I’m fine with that. Thank you so much for this video! 🩷🌷

      Yes! Mice are super freaky! I am continued to work on being a good steward, too, and content. You got this!
