Exactly, if they also introduced cargoships into vanilla and reworked the world gen to get more islands it would make a better game. Hopefully the devs consider it, because it would make the game a lot more interesting
@@8cow945 Yeah I always felt cargo ships should be an option in the base game. My current game has several very large lakes that are just screaming for a cargo ship instead of routing a train line a long long way around.
For some the most interesting part of the game is getting to the first rocket, after that it is nothing but massive amounts of copy pasting your base. Or even worse, copy pasta other peoples bases into yours. My favorite play through so far was a Deathworld, no mods, no lasers, no solar, and no robots. Using timers you can put 10 items on a belt at a time, make a complete circle with that belt around your base along the wall that takes the items off and replaces them. so one single belt you can have ammo, coal to power burner inserters, eventually artillery shells, and oil barrels for flamethrowers. No constructors meant keeping an eye on things, but fully upgraded bullet turrets are ridiculously OP capable of almost instagibbing even behemoths. It has been a couple years for me, so things might be different now.
@@CrackedCogInTheMachine its kinda hard make the logistics work of a megabase, how do you make ur train system, how to get all the materials u need making a super big perimeter and all that stuff
@@SalsaPicant3 my belt circuit was crazy long supplying my turrets, if i had a wall, i had a belt next to it. Utilizing terrain, forests, water and cliffs it was easy to take control of territory with a tank and build walls where necessary at the narrowest points. Using timers you don't have to keep the ammo supply belt saturated, factory supplies an inserter which puts ammo into a chest when it is less than 200. Inserter transfers ammo every 10 seconds or so from that chest to the supply belt, at the completion of the supply belt's circuit another inserter pulls all that ammo off that makes it to the end into the chest again, to be replaced onto the belt. that way you dont saturate the belt, which allows you to also put coal, artillery shells, oil barrels and emptied oil barrels onto the same belt. At the remote outposts I had a rail car with ammo supplies. It really wasn't all that difficult, if you can place a wall, you can place a yellow belt just as easy. And bullet research is crazy OP for not only your turrets but your tank as well. Bullet turrets do WAY more damage than lasers and quite literally instagib all enemies other than behemoths, and behemoths last maybe 2 seconds. Bullet turrets dont have as long of range as lasers, but by the time range is an issue with behemoth spitters you have flamethrower turrets. And once you have artillery deathworld is no longer an issue. I think I kept the world going for around 50 rocket launches or so, can't remember.
@@CrackedCogInTheMachine can I ask why supply flamethrower turrets with barrels and not just connect entire perimeter with underground pipes connected to heavy oil tank?
@@Laireso You could, but i only needed flamethrowers in specific areas, so having kilometers of pipe full of oil was unnecessary. One assembler grabbing a barrel and placing back the empty was easy. No need for storage tanks either, the amount of oil in the pipe was more than sufficient to run a few flamethrowers in the specific areas. It did make me run power though. i experimented with water barrels and a steam generator, but found it ridiculous lol.
