I remember when hearing The Black Album when it was released in 94 being shocked by the track Bob George, as Kwamé had used the 'That skinny mutha-f***a with the high voice' line on his track Skinee Muva in 1990.
Remember the discussion and buzz around the album in 87 like yesterday. Nothing was more desirable as Prince fan than to have a bootleg copy of the Black Album. And yes, he called the all 90s trends in music 5 years early.
I agree. At that time that's all every Prince fan wanted to do was to get their hands on a copy of the Black album. This is what introduced me to the world of bootlegs
Hey, cool video. Salute to you. Fun fact: There is an official video from for The Black Album. The thing is, it may not be the music video that we wanted or expected. There is an official music video for "When 2 R In Love" that was released in 1994 in promotion for that album. The music video is a black screen with white caption of the lyrics. Although the promotion of The Black Album release in 1994 was very limited and little, there was technically a music video released for one of the songs/single for that album.
2:46 I was JUST about to ask the same question! 😆 Like, Have you HEARD SOTT?! Better yet, do you even know who Prince IS?! His style is everything and one thing. His albums take you from here and will drop you there. This IS who "Prince" is.
There's one track where prince made a little comedy in the intro of the instrumental track,in my opinion those are the best minutes of the black album, and the moment when the musicians intruduce themselves 2Ni**@z... united 4westcompton!!!!! Was lit.
Another excellent video! I love your comments on SOTT re losing his funk and making music just for a white audience….weren’t you listening??!! Great comment 👏🏼. Also on dead on it….completely agree he isn’t dissing hip hop….but the rappers at the time 👍🏼
Sigh... don't even recall where I found it, I stumbled over a Japanese pressing of this on LP. No idea what it was actually worth, unfortunately had to sell it and got really nothing for it.
Y R wrong He was talking about Hip hop, His band member had 2 stand up 4 Him from other Hip hop artist 4 saying the only rapper is 1 that's dead on it/Playboy

Still one of my favorite Prince albums

Is the orange vinyl/black label promo authentic? If so, a replica would make for a great release! RSD Prince Estate "are you listening?"
