If you ever do a picnic and you have more than 15 mons on your screen, one is a shiny!!!! The irony here is that the first time I tried this method, I kept picnic resetting until I was on my 2nd sandwich. I got tired and randomly ended a picnic and went to auto battle a Minior right? This video is amazing. I've been hunting shiny alolan vulpix with a snow frolicker title for over a week. And by eyes are bleeding for looking at all the white.
this appears to be the case even for pokemon that have clearer but still difficult to notice especially with lighting in bad areas, I did a cubchoo hunt earlier today and when the shiny appeared I counted all the others and including the shiny there were 16 on the field, it would be harder to tell if there are any fixed spawns so just be aware of that

Oh wow that would have saved me some time. I just found an outbreak and killed them all to see if they were shiny, and then just reset over and over till I found one. With sparkling power 3 and a shiny charm of course. I got a blue one but I'm not crazy enough to get them all because they're basically the same except for their menu sprites.
This works. I just did this method on an outbreak with no shiny sandwich. I'm so glad I saved before because it exploded twice before I could catch it.
Congrats on the shiny :) I didnt mention in this video but I did cover a method to avoid the explosions by using a pokemon with a damp ability, might be useful for any future hunts you do :)
Really wish I had figured this out sooner. I've thought I counted 16 so many times and just chalked it up to a Pokemon wandering out of range and despawning and another spawn taking its place. I will definitely be counting more carefully from now on.
def worked super well for gastly! got it last night from this method. i was able to tell since it spawns in families so i was able to easily compare the colors to the others but i can see it being useful for someone with eyesight problems! this is such a good method
This shiny hunting method is HUGE. Just tryed seing what happens if you use shiny charm odds no sandwich and stuff. I got a random shiny snover. Thx a lot for the method my friend will be using this a lot

Some hunts just seem cursed 😅 hope there are some instances though where this is useful

I’ve done this hunt, and I obviously recommend getting max odds (outbreak, sandwich, and charm) but I did it with just a sandwich. Something odd I found is that it’s easier to notice shiny phantump when in handheld opposed to docked. When you do that, it’s surprisingly noticeable.
gotta get a method for spotting shiny joltik even with my perfect vision seeing the slight diffrence between dark blue and purple on an absolutly tiny scale from camera angles that do you no favors not to mention they have a severe lack of staying still and the last part the lighting conditions of the cave dont make seeing that diffrence easy in the slightest. i mean this method may work for that too because its just about as luck based as this is
This method should work for Joltik, I really like the method for the general purpose it takes away the need to identify the actual shiny, like you say so many hunts are made way harder than they ever need to be because of lighting ect GL with the hunt :)
Was out doing auto battles as a part of the BP grind, not shiny hunting, when my pokemon wouldn't attack a random minior. Saved, and sure enough it was a random shiny. Turned to leave the area and down a slope was a random shiny excadrill.
just to clarify.....with outbreaks are you still knocking out 60 first before you start looking for the 16th one or can just start doing it right away?
What i don’t quite understand about this method is that, especially with hard to tell shinies (like minior) how do you keep track of those 16 considering that the moment you move more pokemon will start spawning to make up for despawned ones as you move?
Yeah that is tricky I normally do a section at time then reset and do the next section and so on until I find the shiny, using the let’s go feature helped a lot for doing this as well
So just go for the magic number of 16, save and scout that shiny. Gonna attempt a shiny elekid cause those things look the same(except with the sparkle intro in-battle) from a regular one not like electabuzz which is a tad orange from the usual yellow.
I'm not sure tbh I will test this in AZ mysefl and come back to you, I know this was a method that the japanese content creators have been using for around 8 months now so on that basis I would say this should be something you can use in Paldea as this was pre DLCs being released.
I’m totally not wasting my time hunting for the shiny of every core color. Same with Alcremie, since that one depends on what sweet bit you have it hold.
Just fyi that shiny 16th Pokemon will still only appear with the odds you currently have. So have fun grinding! I’ve reset picnics over 200+ times now and have never had 16 Pokemon appear. So technically this isn’t really a new method. It’s just a new observation to be fair. Although I guess it does make it easier to hunt hard to see shinies like Minior or Tandemaus.
I'm assuming this method is best paired with the lvl 3 sandwiches but has anyone tried it with the lvl 2? I would think it would take a little bit longer to spawn due to the sandwich lvl but 🤷♀
Yeah I think you are right with this, I havent tested a level 2 sandwich but I assume it will work just as well to dictate the amount of spawns of a certain pokemon in those isolated areas :) thanks so much for sharing :)

Curious... When I was shiny hunting Galarian Slowpoke, I saw as many as 17-18 'mon on the field fairly consistently. I can guarantee you that this did NOT mean guaranteed shiny. Possibly a bug that's separate from this method?

I was shiny hunting an outbreak Jangmo-o and this would not have worked since 15 Jangmo-o did not show up at a time. Also even though i had a dragon sandwich, I didnt get many Jangmo-o appearing...alot of Luxray, Ruffrock, and Meinfoo.

Yeah be careful with the G-Slowpoke using this method there are multiple fixed spawns of Slowpoke on the beach in the terrarium that can make the count a little off

I think you have it backwards. If there are 15 on the field, none can be shiny. If any of the spawns are shiny, there will be at least 16 on the field. My understanding of this is that shiny Pokemon are treated separately by the game. If there is one shiny in the area that you're standing, you will get 16 total spawns. So you stand in a spot, the game spawns in Pokemon from the available pool for that area until there are 15. The game applies a check to see if the Pokemon spawned is shiny. If shiny=true, then it either doesn't count it or reduces the count by one, allowing an additional regular spawn. So if you're looking and there are 15 spawns, the game has maxed out it's count and none of the spawns were shiny. You won't miss a shiny because if there are only 15 spawns on the field, due to the games math, none of them can be shiny.

Didn’t catch this mentioned in the video but you can auto battle all suspicious spawns and if it’s shiny your Pokémon will refuse to attack.

Getting alcremie sweets are easier in SWSH with the cramorant machine but it still requires grinding up for berries.

You had static spawns or you were doing an outbreak.

In this location there are 4 fixed spawns for slowpoke so that might make more sense of what was happening with that hunt

I think i found a new method. I found a torchic and cyndaquil with-in 10 minutes of the same sandwich. Can get about 1500 seen cyndaquil per sandwich.

I mean it's not a "method" I think the game lists the shiny as a different species, but this can help hunt hard to distinguish mons.

after experimtening a bit with this method its UTHER GARBAGE
