DMC is deeper especially 3, 4, and 5. But not Spider-Man. The combat in that is pretty simple. The thing is DMC and Elden Ring both have an in depth combat system but in different ways. There’s absolute retards out there playing DMC only button mashing and then say it’s just a boring hack and slash game… no. You can execute so many complicated combos with shit like jump canceling and all the other tech you can learn in DMC 5. While Elden Ring had far simpler combat but more complex movement and defense mechanics.

I went to irithyl dungeon for profaned coal for blood infusion, and titanite slab from Siegward. Then I went to dancer without even killing Yhorm, to Oceiros, and then to Champion Gundyr for hornet ring, that boosts critical atacks. And then I reached dragonslayer armor for colecting enough titanite chunks for dagger and bandit knife +10. It was the easiest pontiff kill. One parry, critical atack, and while his transition to second phase and summoning clone, I killed him.

I'll be honest, I preordered Elden Ring, having astronomically high expectations; expectations that were practically doomed to be disappointed. When I finally downloaded it and played for the first time, I was astounded. It literally blew my mind how beautifully they expanded upon the formula of the previous SoulsBorne games and married them to this massive open world without sacrificing any of the quality in level design and even expanding massively on the quality of the previously established combat system. Every single time I discovered another portion of the map, my mind was just blown again and again, realising just how insanely huge the world was and how much there was to see and discover. And hell, I missed areas such as the Subterranean Shunning Grounds or the entirety of the Hidden Path to the Haligtree and all the areas connected to the Consecrated Snowfield, such as Elfael or the Mogwyn Palace. Even now, after 500+ hours of play and several completed playthroughs later, I am amazed and astounded at how much passion and skill went into the craftmanship of ER. So I would say to the angry gentleman that yes, Elden Ring is revolutionary. It's revolutionary because it seamlessly marries the exceptional combat and level design of the previous Souls titles, the creative and downright disturbing lore and atmosphere of Bloodborne, the freedom of approach and exploration of Sekiro and the newly developed open world aspect into one beautiful experience that doesn't make almost any compromises. Yes, it has flaws, such as PvP balancing and the reuse of many bosses. Yes, it has room for improvement, as every game (or indeed every manmade product) in history. However it is one of those games that stand as a testament to the professional craftmanship, ethics, passion, creativity and unflinching resolve of its creators to create what they, and many others, consider to be nothing short of pure and unadulterated art and to share that art with the world.
Playing both the base game and DLC blind on the first go of it was one of the more memorable experiences I've had in a long time Also, may as well say Demon's Souls and Elden Ring are the same game if he's going to really go that road
Well....my only experience with a Fromsoft game is Elden Ring. I liked it, once I got used to the mechanics. Did i die a lot in the learning curve? Yes. I really am convinced that people who give these kind of reviews of the game just really suck at Soulslikes. It’s all skill issue anger. There's some kind of DS1 pure melee mentality these people can't get past of that you have to beat the game using a melee weapon without anything else except the healing flask and that's just fucking stupid. I know because I used to be like that but after ER came out I started to broaden my perspective and experiment with different shit and I love the games a lot more than when I tried to bash my head against a wall in the early to mid parts of ER. Even though I still don't summon for anything except a duo fight because I like to 1v1 and learn the boss instead of just getting through it and that has made me enjoy ER a lot more than I did the first few weeks of playing it. But saying that the fights are RNG is just completely wrong. The bosses are consistent if you learn how it works and that's why it didn't take that long for hitless runners to beat ER at RL1 with no upgrades, summons, buffs etc

My friend has such a blind-hatred to Fromsoftware he is not willing to listen to any argument (and i think the games are exactly the thing he loves which is why i recommend it to him to beging with) To give you an example..he loves Dark fantasy, he himself wrote stories about Knight fallen of grace due to betrayal leading them to dark paths and some of them struggling. He would not touch Dark souls with 10 foot long stick. He loves Gothic art and builidings (at least visually) he likes the idea of hunting monster and the exploration of mind and insanity. I'm glad you recognized the alan wake comment at 12:50 because, yes, you're right, just like dark souls has a large emphasis on combat, alan wake has a lot of emphasis on uncovering a mystery. Two very different genres. You often critique other people for comparing apples and oranges, so doing it here was hypocritical for sure. You do have to play a lot of the remedyverse to really appreciate alan wake 2, it is not an approachable game. But if you played the first Alan wake, Control+dlc, quantum break, and EVEN MAX PAYNE FOR PS1! all of these and more, intersect in Alan wake 2.

Just adding jump atracks & crouching is a massive upgrade to the combat, jumping over & low profiling under attacks is a significant change to how combat flows compared to previous From games, throw in sprinting attacks, guard counters & 90+ different Ashes of War that have different effects/timing to learn. The combat is infinitely more complex than ds1
If you played elder scrolls 4 you played skyrim. If you played pokemon red you played pokemon moon. If you played fifa 1 you played fifa 21. If you played cod 4 you played cod 12. I can continue over and over. But at least elden ring build more on the fundations of previous games.

Sure, you might not be able to perform advanced combos, but you can combine so many different things in this game. Different weapons have different moves and ashes of war. 2 weapons of the same type gives you a new set of moves. The list goes on...

I'm new to Eldin Ring and Erdtree DLC. Also new to From games period. I admit I scream in anger in some very early beat downs and "you died" from early areas to late areas, but then I calm down. Do some level grinding and come back and kick ass successfully. I enjoy it even with the anger spats. It keeps me experimenting and trying again and again.

I think what make Elden Ring so revolutionary is not only does it take everything people loved from the previous entries to the souls series and puts it into one package with improvements on top (i.e. a huge open world). It does all that without unnecessary microtransactions, battle passes, time wasters, energy bars, other predatory tactics the industry uses on the consumers. Its like going to chinese spot in the mall and they stack your plate so you cant even close the top. You got what you paid for and then some. Technically speaking thats not revolutionary. But in comparison to its contemporaries, it's a breath of fresh air. 😂

@@Groby50000I wouldn't consider any of them filler content because every cave, tunnel, catacomb, and boss cleared gives you much needed runes for levelling. It's definitely not filler when it's so intertwined with character progression

I really am convinced that people who give these kind of reviews of the game just really suck at Soulslikes. It’s all skill issue anger. Angry there are a millions that can and do get it, but folks like him can’t move past Limgrave and it infuriates them how badly they suck at a game that literally gives you everything you need to make the game easier.

I summon almost every fight. Why? Cause making use of a tool I have is more strategically logical than bashing my head against a wall 300 times and praying that RNG throws me a bone

There's some kind of DS1 pure melee mentality these people can't get past of that you have to beat the game using a melee weapon without anything else except the healing flask and that's just fucking stupid. I know because I used to be like that but after ER came out I started to broaden my perspective and experiment with different shit and I love the games a lot more than when I tried to bash my head against a wall in the early to mid parts of ER. Even though I still don't summon for anything except a duo fight because I like to 1v1 and learn the boss instead of just getting through it and that has made me enjoy ER a lot more than I did the first few weeks of playing it. But saying that the fights are RNG is just completely wrong. The bosses are consistent if you learn how it works and that's why it didn't take that long for hitless runners to beat ER at RL1 with no upgrades, summons, buffs etc

To give you an example..he loves Dark fantasy, he himself wrote stories about Knight fallen of grace due to betrayal leading them to dark paths and some of them struggling.
He would not touch Dark souls with 10 foot long stick.
He loves Gothic art and builidings (at least visually) he likes the idea of hunting monster and the exploration of mind and insanity.
Says Bloodborne is just Dark souls with a skin on top. (Despite the guns)

I'm glad you recognized the alan wake comment at 12:50 because, yes, you're right, just like dark souls has a large emphasis on combat, alan wake has a lot of emphasis on uncovering a mystery. Two very different genres. You often critique other people for comparing apples and oranges, so doing it here was hypocritical for sure.
You do have to play a lot of the remedyverse to really appreciate alan wake 2, it is not an approachable game. But if you played the first Alan wake, Control+dlc, quantum break, and EVEN MAX PAYNE FOR PS1! all of these and more, intersect in Alan wake 2.

Just adding jump atracks & crouching is a massive upgrade to the combat, jumping over & low profiling under attacks is a significant change to how combat flows compared to previous From games, throw in sprinting attacks, guard counters & 90+ different Ashes of War that have different effects/timing to learn.
The combat is infinitely more complex than ds1

His "fight an enemy and fight a boss" comment is basically what you do in most games to be honest. And his comment about the combat system being simplistic is just wrong. Sure, you might not be able to perform advanced combos, but you can combine so many different things in this game. Different weapons have different moves and ashes of war. 2 weapons of the same type gives you a new set of moves. The list goes on...

I killed Tree Sentinel at level 23 my first playthrough, after a bit of the DLC, I beat it at level 9, the Confessor Class's default level, Square Off is an OP early AOW x3
I'm new to Eldin Ring and Erdtree DLC. Also new to From games period. I admit I scream in anger in some very early beat downs and "you died" from early areas to late areas, but then I calm down. Do some level grinding and come back and kick ass successfully. I enjoy it even with the anger spats. It keeps me experimenting and trying again and again.
This guy compares this game with others with a difficulty slider and calling it a combat system. The part where he screamed about the game being too hard gave that away here.
When the Dude says he's played other from soft games what he means is he played them for about an hour, got spanked and rage quit. So technically he's not lying. Now he's super mad because the one that was supposed to be the most accessible FS game for casuals is still too hard. This is why he's raging you can totally tell.

I think what make Elden Ring so revolutionary is not only does it take everything people loved from the previous entries to the souls series and puts it into one package with improvements on top (i.e. a huge open world). It does all that without unnecessary microtransactions, battle passes, time wasters, energy bars, other predatory tactics the industry uses on the consumers. Its like going to chinese spot in the mall and they stack your plate so you cant even close the top. You got what you paid for and then some. Technically speaking thats not revolutionary. But in comparison to its contemporaries, it's a breath of fresh air. 😂

I love this guy, if you listen to the examples that he gives Devil May Cry, Kingdom Hearts etc I think what he is trying to say is that he doesn't like the weighty measured combat of Elden Ring, he thinks that if you can win by mashing buttons and switching between cool looking moves that's somehow an improvement.
