And, get things tailored if you can. Especially those quality work horse pieces. I’m blessed because my father has been a tailor for 60 plus years!

Yes!!! I actually learned basic sewing skills to hem very simple things and it helps SO MUCH and makes clothing look so much more polished 🤍🤍🤍

I’m 5” and never thought high rise were for me but they look so much better especially having more of an hourglass shape. Other cuts sit in an unflattering place. Wearing appropriately fitted clothing for your specific body type will increase your confidence and comfort in your skin. 👌🏻

I so agree with all your points! I love classic style anyway, but it has the added advantage of being nearly timeless. Simple, classic, high-quality items will give tons of wear and always look good. I buy generally more tailored, restrained, styles and add the femininity I want with their soft, luxurious fabrics, like silk and cashmere, and light, feminine colors, rather than girlish details like ruffles, puffed sleeves and tiers (I do have a few pieces with one of of these details, they can be hard to avoid when they’re trendy, but they date quickly and aren’t that sophisticated). I just bought a silk dress I love, for example, from Goelia - I don’t like the skirt tier, but I overlooked it because the dress is otherwise perfect for me. We’re seeing a lot less of these Prairie Dress details offered now, that was a pandemic loungewear rebound trend, but Asian brands are generally at least five years behind in their styling).

To me, fabric/material composition is the most important consideration when wardrobe shopping, I can only wear natural, non-plastic ones. I just don’t bother looking at clothes and accessories in synthetics, and even most blends, depending on the brand. Fast-fashion ones use a lot higher percentages of synthetics in their blends than premium ones do, if they use any at all Synthetics are never necessary, “improving the fabric” or desirable, regardless of what brands say, the only reason they use them is to reduce their costs. I hate Spandex, so I usually won’t buy anything that contains more than 1%. There’s nothing that Spandex or nylon can do that natural-fiber knits can’t do. I do still have a few otherwise-liked items with synthetics in them, but I will phase them out gradually (mostly poly pleated skirts, under which I wear a silk slip or petticoat). I have the double-trouble of skin allergies and overheating, I need maximum breathability, so I know synthetic items just won’t get worn if I have any better, more comfortable, choices in my wardrobe. Plus, natural-fiber items just look so much better and higher quality, because they are! I know my too-big natural-fiber items, which I take great care of, have that intrinsic, material value that means when I need to pass them on, they will be worn by others. (Have lost 50 lbs. and seem to be still losing weight, so the majority of my wardrobe had to go.). A used polyester top, for example, is not wanted by anyone and will end up in a landfill.

No, most brands do not offer free shipping! Sometimes if you spend a minimum, they will, but good quality items are more expensive and I can’t always buy multiple items at one time. I often won’t shop at sites that will not offer fs. I feel that if I take my time and spend my money to shop their site, they should offer free shipping and free returns. Jmo.

Sizing is so inconsistent these days that I only use it as a starting point. I don’t care what size is on the label, I only care about how the garment looks and feels on me. I agree, sizing up one or more sizes looks so much better than even one size too tight, which always makes us look fatter. When buying anything with Spandex it, I always start with one size higher than the size chart recommends for my measurements. Items made with Spandex, or a lot of nylon for stretch, squeeze the body, it’s neither flattering nor comfortable, and it causes horizontal strain lines across the body - these are always a sign that the item is too small. Too big and baggy isn’t flattering, either. I like a body-skimming fit in the torso for most clothes, these show one’s shape without squeezing it like a sausage. Fit is so important.🙂

Yes!! Try out the quince linen jumpsuit I linked in the description if you’re interested! It’s one of my favorite pieces I purchased this year and can’t wait to wear it again after I deliver baby ☺️❤️

    • @kimberlyperrotis8962

Jumpsuits and rompers have to fit at more points on the body than any other type of garment: shoulders, bust, waist, hips, rise, torso and pant lengths. That’s not even including sleeve fit, if applicable. I don’t have the most common, pear shape, I’m a rectangle shape, and have never found one of these that fits even reasonably well. I finally gave up, I’m age 64, on trying to make these and certain other tricky styles work for me. I prefer a dress of skirt for comfort anyway. If you want to find them, choosing knit/jersey fabric ones can help with the fit, they’re a bit more forgiving.🙂
