    I’m 70, five feet tall and slim. I really find your videos to be soooo helpful. Obviously, there are some items I wouldn’t wear…like miniskirts, over the knee boots. But I have always liked classic clothes and that’s your style. You have answered so many of my style questions and you help to keep me from looking outdated. Thank you! ❤

    Any time you create a vertical line on top it minimizes your bust. Yes to V necks, and necklaces that create a V.
    Also, IMHO longer trousers look better on short people like us. Worn with a pointed toe, they pull the eye in a vertical line. ❤

    I am 5 foot 2 inches tall and my body is pretty proportionate. But I simply cannot go with the “light” coats. I live in Canada and it’s FREEZING here. Simply not practical. I see young girls run around in the cold every day who are totally underdressed. Believe me, it’s so cold, nobody is looking!

    • @ElanaKinda
      @ElanaKinda  7 месяцев назад +2

      Omg if I lived somewhere where it got that cold, absolutely would not wear these thinner coats. 😂 I HATE being cold. It’s so miserable!!!😂 anytime it hits freezing I whip out my -32 C parka and simply don’t care, just trying to survive 😂

    I’m 5’ tall, slim at 89lbs and 80 years old. Please don’t tell my body, it still thinks it’s 50 years old and dresses as such. I wear straight leg jeans, tank tops, white button down shirts, sneakers and ribbed tank tops. I have several blazers in different colors and many cashmere sweaters. My daughter is 50 years old and her body thinks it’s only 30 years old. My biggest problem is finding pants and jeans short enough for my petite inseam. I also wear size 4.5 shoes. So when I find clothes and shoes that fit I usually buy them.

    If it’s cold enough for a wool winter coat, I’ll be wearing it closed up to my chin outdoors. That’s one thing I look for - can it button all the way up? The other thing is fabric: 100% wool, 100% cashmere or a wool/cashmere blend and fully lined with a breathable fabric, not polyester or acetate! Being cold and sweaty is the worst of all and my skin can’t touch synthetics - allergies. Rayon is fine and not expensive, I wish more brands used it for linings. Because Banana Republic does (in most coats and jackets), I bought four winter coats there in the autumn! I had to get them when I saw them, it’s been all-poly for decades and I don’t like unlined winter coats - they don’t cut the wind or have as nice a shape. All those double faced wool coats are oversized and sloppy, plus a smooth lining is essential for donning and doffing. I love your V-neck style coat, but it must have a top closure for me.

    • @ElanaKinda
      @ElanaKinda  7 месяцев назад +3

      Yes, if it’s freezing I don’t care 😆 all coats must be able to close! Usually if I’m going in and outdoors I can wear it open, but winter walks there’s no way it’ll be open 😂 so essentially for me, all coats must be able to close but if weather allows me to wear it open, I prefer that if I can :)

    Hi! I’m also 5’1 with a long torso and short legs and the hardest thing for me to find is one piece bathing suits! They all seem like they are made for short torsos. Just a suggestion if you ever want to film a video on petite long torso one pieces I would be so grateful! 😂

      LOL, I'm 5' with a short torso, and I would swear bathing suits are all made for long-torso women. I always have to shorten the crotch to make them come even close to fitting. Often I just wear shorts over my suit to feel comfortably covered.

    • @bettyparker3317

      IDK if you have issues with brand names, but Lands End catalogue co. makes one-piece swimsuits with options for long torso. It’s the only brand I can wear, with my long torso and short everywhere else. You have to read closely in the descriptions/fine print on sizing, but they do have a lot.

    I think the most important thing for us petites is to always tuck in all tops, even sweaters. Or, I buy petite, cropped styles, like Banana Republic’s Luna cashmere Polo sweaters, they’re perfect - V-neck, collar and short length, they just cover my waistband. Our proportions look so much better, and we look more slender and taller, if the entire leg length is shown, up to and including a standard “high-rise” waistband. After that, I agree, an open neckline with a pointed collar is the best! I also love a lowish, but still modest, square-neckline, they look great under blazers, my favorite jacket style. I also wear leather footwear with comfortable 2 to 2.5-inch heels when I can, instead of sneakers, which I only wear if essential for the day’s activities. I’m lucky because I have relatively long legs for my height, and a very short torso. Being petite is challenging, clothes are always too wide at my narrow hips and shoulders, and my head/face, hands and feet are ridiculously small (at least they have some entertainment value, they get laughed at often enough). I love soft, thin, drapey fabrics, too, especially silk, my main wardrobe choice (with Merino/Cashmere over it in winter). Thanks for your great tips, they all help! PS, I don’t think you have a huge bust, I’m about the same, around 34D, and think it’s pretty average, guessing you might be an E, somewhat fuller than me, but I’m older, 63. This bust size just seems bigger, in proportion to our small frames. The bust can get a bit smaller, about 1/2 to 1 cup size, I used to be an E before menopause, tops fit better now!🙂

    • @ElanaKinda
      @ElanaKinda  7 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah! My breasts are bigger right now :) pre pregnancy I was a C cup and I’m currently 14 weeks now and I fit into an E cup now! 😅 they’ll go down after breastfeeding, it’s so interesting, it seems to be after I breast feed each kid, my breasts get smaller! Before I had any kids, they used to be a DDD naturally! So they changed significantly in the past 6 years 🤭😅 they’re going up and down constantly and I have quite the bra collection at this point 😂

      👆THIS, I can relate to. Pants or ANY botoms I find very difficult. High waisted totally deletes my small torso. Low rise creates muffin top....what can ya do??? I find midrise my best compromise, but still NOT great.

    I'm 5' 1", short legs, short torso and well..the opposite of what you said you are on top. I have narrow shoulders, small from neck to waist, but pear shaped from the waist down
    Do you think prints (if they are small prints, florals) are ok to wear on blouses and jackets? I never wear floral prints on pants but do like them on tops, jackets.
    So for blouses and tops I wear petite size but pants I have to wear 10 or 12 these days. I am a senior citizen.
    I wear a size 6 in sneakers and do love the platform/wedge kind.
    I know the wedge sneakers come in various heights and styles.
    What height of wedge do you think is appropriate?

    I'm sorry, but I will never stop being annoyed at the unbuttoned coat. I am wearing long oversized wool coat not only because of fashion, but because it's cold af, I need layers AND I need thick outer layer to protect me from wind, snow, fire-and-necrotic-damage-tornados, you name it. Why even wear a coat if you can unbutton it?

    Heel height should be proportionate to your shoe size. Petites generally have small feet and look fabulous in flats or low heels. Size 9 - 10 feet look fabulous in 4" or more heels. I am 5' with size 7 - 7 1/2 feet, so I try to wear a 2" heel because it makes the foot look smaller. I also like boots and boot-cut jeans because the jeans hide the foot, allowing only the toe to show, which also minimizes the size of the foot.
