Recording Psychotic Waltz mostly in our home studios has been my ambition since the very beginning. Finally we are there, and now my studio is much better than even then. The next one I'd love to do here in Studio D entirely. A guy can dream, right?

I remember (no pun intended 🤣) hearing demos for the Social Grace album, and they seem to have an additional rawness and excitement to it. Which, as a musician, I fully understand: you're trying to capture the magic before it becomes "stale", and you're trying to keep that writing momentum going :)
But I can also vividly remember your show at the Dynamo Festival in the Netherlands - and whatever raw power was lost on the album, thát performance definitely made up for it!!
We briefly spoke when you walked into the audience afterwards, amazed at home made t-shirts...
Going back to here and now, having your own studio is absolutely brilliant - even if it can distract and take away a little of that urgency to get everything on tape before time runs out 🤣🤣
You really had to be prepared to the best of your ability before walking in. And thát made recording even the most exiting tracks.... well, less exiting.
But then again, you guys have done this for so long, I'm sure you can pump yourselves up & get the adrenaline going like you felt it on the early recording sessions, and *then* go into your own studio(s) and record 😎 Heck, put a timer on if it works 🤣👍
I'd say: absolutely go for it!
Thanks for your valuable insights D, I totally enjoy these videos! 🙏

The God Shaped void is a true gem; not possible to listen to without playing all the way through. The guitar work and sound is amazing. Thank you for producing such a masterpiece. Would love to know what guitar sims were used. Brilliant…

So much going on behind the scenes… but this album is without a doubt the best sounding PW record by far… I wish Into the Everflow was remastered to sound like this album…

So glad i journeyed to Europe from San Diego to catch several of your shows on the Power of Metal tour. To see PW perform with people half my age singing their songs was really something special. The metal/ prog music scene in Europe is leaps and bounds better than the USA and well the landscape and countries are absolutely stunning. I can see why you decided to live your life there. It really felt like a dream and I had a overwhelming sense of peace over there. God Shaped Void is a masterpiece and has been on repeat on all my media players since it came out.. i hope someday we can get a video of PW performing this album.

Always enjoyed Norms performances, live or studio, an incredibly solid player that carries such a passion for his craft. have admired his chops... for decades. I first heard your vocals at Blue Meanie records in El cajon when they were playing, "I remember" on the overhead system. became a lifelong fan right then and there...Thank you for the gift of your efforts Devon.

The Neumann M147 is one of my absolute favorite more modern microphones. It's like butter.
Edit: I agree with the transformer output on the mics, but the M147 allows me to push the hell out of whichever preamps and compressors without the typical tube noise floor. To each their own, though. Funnily enough, I have an actual U47 but I don't like it on much.

Awesome! thank you for your insight. I also noticed the 147 responds well to soft or heavy vocals. I'm using a U67 which is breathtaking on soft vocals, but I am challenged with heavy vocals. Maybe a video on this is a good idea.

skrillex created 10 years worth of a genre single hanedly using a laptop with blown speakers.
you have more of a studio than most major label bands are using now...

Hello! I have just Begun to Have the Want and Need to Record and Make Music, so I Decided that the Best Way is to Set Up my OWN Studio. I want to do it This Way so I can Record and Produce My own music Whenever I Want, and I don't have to pay for or schedule or even TRAVEL to a Recording Studio to Make Music. And Secondly, I would Like to Produce Other People's Albums, so they can Be Heard. I live in a College Town, Ames, Iowa, and I have been in Several Bands over the Years, and There are New Bands Every year, because New People Move Here to Go to College every Fall. I am a Permanent Resident, so I Can Become Known in this town as Someone who has the Equipment to Record Your Songs, and I Might have a Synthesizer or Drum Machine they could use in their Album, because I Own those things, but they May Not have them, so it Benefits them and makes more Options Available to the Artist. I LIKE the 3 or 4 videos that I have watched of yours, the first one being the DOLBY Atmos Video, and I Like you as a Person, I understand what you are saying in your Videos without having to Know all of the Technical terms and Acronyms for programs or formats, you help the Viewer learn these terms and give Definitions, and I am in the SPONGE MODE of Learning About Recording, So I am going to be watching you a lot! THANKZ FOR BEING AWESOME!
